Also wrote a review for the same 2T drive in Beige. Very fast and rugged Solid State Drive without any moving parts. Comes with 2 USB cables....the drive is the new C type and the difference in the 2 cables is the end that goes to the PC. One is type C male and the other is type A male at the PC side. The connector on the drive is type C. Regardless of USB connector this drive is USB 3.2 Gen2. My understanding is this 3.2 version of type A is something like at least 10 times faster than previous versions of USB. C type can go in either direction when plugging in and the same exact pins are connected either orientation. Notice that no USB symbol is on a C type connector as it designates which side will go up for female horizontal slots and the USB symbol on a type A goes to the left for the vertical slots on front of my Dell XPS desktop. This drive comes with a "Samsung Portable" software program which simply allows you to set a password to access the drive, for security or privacy. DON'T FORGET THE PASSWORD. WRITE IT DOWN IN A FILE FOR EXAMPLE. This is a very fast and rugged and water resistant drive. I had a "G Drive" before which is a ruggedized SS version of a Western Digital Drive. I prefer this Samsung SS Drive instead and don't use the G Drive any longer, but they are also good drives. I bought 2 of these same T7 Shield drives, in different colors to identify and I bought the second drive after using this blue drive for at least a year.

I've been using this external drive as a way to back up my main storage drive on my PC, which is an HDD (4TB). So far I'm happy with the performance of this drive. I love it's size and managing the drive is very easy using Samsung's magician software. It was also very easy to register the drive on the Samsung website - using the magician software, you can actually see the serial number of the drive in the "drive details" section of the Magician software, making it super easy to find/use the serial number to register the drive on Samsung.com after making a consumer account profile. As an aside, I also have installed a Samsung EVO 870 2.5" drive and my system is installed on a Samsung 990 Pro 1TB drive. The magician software was a lifesaver here since I otherwise would've had to take apart my computer to find the serial numbers on those drives, especially the 990 Pro to which I had added an aftermarket heat sink. The Samsung magician software that comes with this T7 shield drive also allows you to run diagnostics on the drive to check its performance and health. It also allows you to easily use the drive to transfer your old system onto it and make it a bootable drive if you plan to upgrade your current computer with a 980 or 990 Samsung SSD. The T7 shield comes with a 3-year warranty, as I saw after I registered it online. That's lower than the 5-year warranty that comes with the Samsung internal 990 pro and Evo 870 2.5" drives, unfortunately. Overall, I have to give it 5 stars and I plan on buying another one for my kid's compuer.

This drive offers impressive speeds of 700MB/s or higher, making data transfer a breeze. The rubberized exterior provides a layer of protection, ensuring durability even during travel or rough handling. With a spacious 4TB storage capacity, it's perfect for storing large files, multimedia, and backups. The compact design and fast performance make the Samsung T7 a fantastic choice for those seeking both reliability and efficiency in an external drive.

I am, by no means, a power user of electronics and computers. This external hard drive was easy to use and did everything I wanted in a very quick period of time. I had my photos scattered on a bunch of flash drives. They are all in one place in an easy to find and organized place. The transfer took longer than I thought, but all my photos barely took up any space on this 2TB product.

I am extremely satisfied with this purchase. "Value" is a relative term. Was the price a bit daunting? YES! However knowing the value of the content going on this drive is literally Priceless! I will now sleep better at night knowing all of the files are saved and safer. The files now transferred by The Geek Squad (Jason & Jackson @ the Midwest City, OK store) is a professional lifetime, 46 years of learning and training materials for Aging Adults, Adult Protective Services & Domestic Violence professionals and para-professionals at a state, national, an d international level. Note my previous 5TB drive was also purchased from Best Buy several years ago and it was an excellent drive but I used it ALL THE TIME and since it was a disk drive it eventually became unreliable. That was not the fault of the drive but simply constant use. Again......Having these priceless files now on a solid state drive I can now sleep at night. Final note: I also want to thank Bryan in the Midwest City, OK store who on my visit went out of his way to find not only the right drive, but actually locate it in the store for me.

While this isn't the latest model on the market, this Samsung - T7 Shield External Storage is fabulous. I like the added protection to make it less prone to damage. It is fast, easy to use, and has plenty of room to backup a computer. It is pretty straight-forward and suits my storage needs perfectly.

This hard drive does what you want it to do. It's compact, durable, and fast. I use it on the road recording and photographing bands. It stays in my backpack and takes a bit of a beating and I've never had an issue with it at all. I recommend this hard drive for anyone taking photos or videos while on the road traveling.

This is my 2nd of these drives & I couldn't be happier with them. They are LIGHTNING fast when it comes to transferring large amounts of data from an Android device & vice-versa. They're perfect for those who take a lot of pictures or who use their mobile device like a laptop PC & need an external-type drive that's a more stable & reliable alternative to the cloud. The only downside to the device is the cataloging in that, if you do use this for pictures and you've spent time "tagging" your photos for easy searching, the tags DO transfer to the drive in the metadata, but ate not searchable in thus manner (as far as I can tell) as that's only a feature available in Samsung's Gallery. Another downside might be that you need to open each file individually, rather than being able to scroll through them like you'd be able to in a "Gallery" setting. ... I'm sure there are ways around this/apps to fix this, I just haven't found them yet. ... But- For the purpose of versatile, stable, reliable, FAST, large capacity & EXTREMELY portable data storage, this is TOTALLY the way to go for any of your storage needs!

The Samsung T7 Shield works well overall and does what it’s supposed to do. The transfer speeds are fast and reliable, and I like how durable and water-resistant it is, which makes it feel safe for storing important files. It’s also compact and easy to carry around. However, the price is a little high compared to other external SSDs with similar performance. Still, it’s a solid option if you want something sturdy and dependable.
