What is the difference between the Samsung SSD S7 and the shield version? Just that the shield is more rugged?
Answered by SamsungBabs: Both the T7 and T7 Shield have the same USB interface, maximum sequential reading and maximum sequential writing speeds. They both have the same security with password protection; support the Samsung Portable SSD Software and Samsung Magician Software and use AES 256-bit hardware encryption. The main visible difference between the two drives is that the T7 Shield is the only one to offer any protection against dust and water. With an IP65 rating, the Shield version is fully dust tight in addition to being able to be submerged underwater at a maximum depth of 1 meter for up to 30 minutes. The T7 offers a drop resistance of up to 2 meters while the T7 Shield offers a drop resistance of up to 3 meters. - Samsung Memory
