I used this SSD while traveling across the country and carrying lots of video files. Nothing has corrupted and still works great! I like the high transfer speed, the amount of storage for the price. The size is small and compact, which us great since I am a student. It does not run hot and I would purchase this again.

Having recently purchased a brand new MacBook Pro M1 Pro with 1TB SSD, I wanted a really good external SSD for Time Machine Backups. I already own a much smaller Samsung SSD which has served me really well for the last few years. So I knew in advance the Samsung T7 2TB would be the perfect choice for the task at hand. It's simply amazing you can get portable SSD drives with so much real and usable storage, for the price of admission in this T7. It came nicely packaged with every you need, including a little owners manual and a high quality USB C to USB C cable. This drive is incredibly fast and was able to download hundreds of gigabytes of data quickly. It's built to the best standards with durable thermal construction, which Samsung says defends against impact or overheating. Out of the box, it was recognized on my new MacBook and using Disc Utility, I formatted it appropriately for a Mac (using APFS) and while data is downloading, the little Blue LED blinks to let you know data is being accepted, then turns solid blue when the data transfer is complete. You can password protect the drive and it includes 256-BIT AES hardware encryption, which scrambles data to make it nearly impossible to hack. It's small, elegant, incredibly well made, protects your data and simply couldn't be easier to use. If you've ever lost data before, you know how awful the feeling. This T7 SSD from Samsung will ensure I can never lose data. For the money, I simply can't recommend this enough.

Pros + small and portable + fast + easy setup + user-friendly (plug and go) Cons - very smooth (which could be prone to sliding and falling if not on a flat/leveled surface) - would be nice if it had a feature or warning that this device is overheating (haven't had this issue yet, but it would be nice to know if it starts to overheat) If any company out there could make a simple silicone case/wrap to give it some grip and added protection on the corners and edges, to avoid sliding or slipping out your fingers, that would be a great compliment to this device. Overall the product is solid and works great with no issues yet. Quality for the price, will be buying more in the future.

Very small and compact which I like. Also very smooth surface really nice. Speed has been great. Haven’t had any performance issues. I’ve had faster but for the price I don’t think anyone would see any issues with speed or performance. Very portable no bigger than those slim weird wallets. Could easily slide into full pocket. That’s a nice touch. I use it weekly for extra storage in always emptying my sd card onto it and It’s done great.

Pros: Small, sturdy, and reliable. Password protection easy to use once it's set up. Possible Cons: it needs to be plugged into a higher powered USB C slot or it won't run properly. On newer laptops that's usually not an issue. Cons: Setting up the password protection required installing software on my computer

I love my Samsung products, and this SSD allows my devices more storage. My phone, computer, and tablet easily connect to this through USB-C. This drive is very light and portable, and the speeds allow me to back up things very quickly from my devices. I recommend it.

Very portable. Packs a lot of storage in a small package (size of the palm of your hand)! Fast. Streams 4K video stored on the SSD in real time without stuttering (using a MacBook Pro with M2 chip). Good quality. The SSD is metal and feels sleek and robust but is not heavy due to its small size. Comes with both USB-A and USB-c connection cables.

Needed a faster drive as photos and videos are taking up more space as resolution increases and my data was trapped in the cloud somewhere. I bought this drive thinking it was a temporary fix and it turned out to be a godsend. There are faster drives available BUT… many are rated at 25%-30% of the total read/write cycles of this drive meaning they’ll last 25%-30% of the estimated drive life. It’s fast enough to do anything an intermediate user would need to use with the benefit of password protection and encryption. Just make sure you don’t lose your password if you activate one, not sure if you can recover it if that were to happen. Password protection and 750-850 Read/write speeds on my Mac (750 read on my M1/850 read on my Intel model) make it 10x faster than my old external WD HDD and I’m future proofed for years to come. Excellent value and performance. I usually shoot for the stars when buying new components but this purchase had NO Remorse associated with it. I actually want to gift one to everyone I know who has had issues recovering media from their phones or clouds. It can download entire albums in record time depending on the size of your library. I’d highly recommend this product and will probably be buying 1-2 more in the near future

Bought the external storage for concert content (ie. larger videos and loads of photos). Its transfer from my initial laptop storage was simple, quick, and did not compromise the quality of content (that I have noticed). The only thing I would tell future users to mind would be to transfer larger quantities in batches. Without breaks, the storage can heat up very quickly and to very hot temperatures.

I recently bought the Samsung - T7 1TB External USB 3.2 Gen 2 Portable SSD, and I am really happy with it. It was super easy to set up, just plug it in and it is ready to go. No setup or software needed. What I love most is how fast it is. I transferred large videos and files in just seconds. It’s way quicker than the regular hard drives I have used before. It is also super small and lightweight, so I can carry it in my pocket or bag with no problem when I go to school. The design is sleek and it feels strong, not cheap. You can tell it is good quality. Overall, this SSD is fast, reliable, and easy to use. Totally worth it for anyone who needs quick storage on the go.

After debating on whether or not to completely replaced my late 2013 27" iMac and spending an exorbitant amount of time on Reddit and YouTube looking at the benefits of internal versus external SSDs. I decided against tearing the screen off of my iMac (why do you make it so hard Apple) and reconfiguring my boot disk to run off of an SSD. How did I choose this SSD? Honestly, impatience. I think the Samsung T5 would've worked just as well, given that the late 2013 iMac has thunderbolt 2 and USB 3.0/A. While the T7 is built to run super fast, I am capped out via the USB C to USB A compatibility. Also, I "needed" 2TB worth of storage, (I've been using 1TB since 2013 and I've used about 60% of it, so the need is relative and in my mind), and there wasn't a huge difference in the cost point of the T5 2TB and the T7 2B. Plus T7 was available same day and T5 had "unavailable to deliver." The install. I know it semi sounds like I know what I am doing, let me assure you - I do not. This is the first time I have made any changes and I was terrified.. but I had disk speeds in the teens and I am heavy into research and frequently have 6-7 different applications running. It was super easy. You literally plug the SSD in, wipe it, and copy your HDD over (I used carbon copy software). For me, given my 1TB HDD, it took about 4 hours. Afterwards, my disk speeds had increased from 30 to 4-500 MB/s. Well below what this SSD is rated for but once again - external SSD through a USB 3.0 and not through the thunderbolt 2. That being said - it's like a new computer. Restarts take 20-30 seconds from start to finish versus the 5-7 minutes. Applications open instantly. I can play world of warcraft on one screen while studying on another. This is a lifesaver and saved me an incredible amount of money. I would highly recommend to any novice looking to extend the life of earlier model iMacs whose HDDs are behind the glass screens. I've also bought 32GB of RAM from MacSales to replace the 8GB but it has not been delivered. I cannot see how it could improve my performance further, but we will see. Attached are the new disk speeds, this is with 9 different applications running not including World of Warcraft which is open on my second screen. Also - Don't be fooled if you google "Samsung T7 SSD iMac" and see people saying that the it will not connect to iMac, it connected just fine straight out of the box. They probably reformatted it wrong. Go to youtube, watch videos. If I can do it - you can too!

Once you use Samsung SSD portable hard drive you won't use anything else. Fast, reliable, and compact.

If you're looking for an easily portable SSD then look no further. I recently purchases this drive to take with me on vacation so I can move footage for my youtube channel off my cameras and onto my computer. This drive not only was super small and easy to carry around but the internals of this drive are phenomenal. With speeds quicker than or the same as larger drives in a sleek design and only needed one short cable making travel easy, made this SSD one of the best options on the market. Would HIGHLY recommend this drive to anyone and everyone.

I'm used to the very bulky external hard drives, this is slim, compact and well-traveled. the transfer speed for large files is also a nice factor, the C port usage with the new Lenovo i have ties in well for space saving style. Hands Down better that the Bulky 6T Seagate i use.

I use these with my Black Magic 6K Pro. They are slightly wider and thinner than the previous T5 model but so far they are also just as reliable. As far as storage and speed bigger faster better.

The 1TB storage SSD samsung drive has been useful and efficient for my work. It is light so you can bring it anywhere and plug in to any Type C. I love it and I still use it now for my college work which has been four years.
