This item looks pretty but doesn’t function good enough for the price tag. I tried to return it 2 days after the 30 day window closed and Best Buy refused it. This was over the holidays. I won’t ever shop there again.

Lumens are very low. Needs to be a very dark room to get value out of it.

It worked great for a year, then suddenly wouldn’t turn on about a month after the one-year warranty expired. I called Samsung to get help and they told me it would cost $269 to fix. I’m really disappointed because it felt like the perfect projector for the setup in my bedroom.

If you are looking for a compact projector that can easily be taken on the go and set up anywhere, then the Samsung Freestyle Second Gen with Gaming Hub Portable Projector may be just what you are looking for. This projector works great in so many different applications. Out of the box, the first thing that you will notice is just how small this projector is. It is only seven inches tall and about 4 inches wide while weighing less than two pounds. All you really need to do is pull it out of the box, plug it in, and you are halfway there. Ou will need to decide what you will use for a screen. Since it is portable, sometimes I just use a white wall in my house, and it works fine. When you power it on, you will go through a normal setup where you input Wi-Fi network information. You will want this as it provides you access to many free apps with the system as well as updates. Unfortunately, there is no input for Ethernet connection so everything will be wireless. Also, if you want to plug in a gaming console, you will need a special cable. An ordinary HDMI to HDMI will not work. You will need a mini-HDMI to HDMI cable. This cable is not included but can be purchased relatively cheaply. One of the nice features of this projector is that it can produce an image from 30 inches in diagonal to 100 inches. The projector has an auto level and auto keystone correction capability which makes it easy for you to line up your projector. The projector also allows you to rotate the projector so you can show the image anywhere. If you want, you can even easily show images off of the ceiling in your bedroom. As for other features, the projector comes will several preloaded apps but also allows you to download many more. The free Samsung TV gives you free programming to many older shows. One channel even has endless repeats of the making of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. There are literally hundreds of channels there. If you have other apps, you can easily download those as well. You can download Netflix, Hulu, ESPN, Fubo, PBS Kids, Disney Plus, Amazon Prime Video, YouTube, and even Apple TV to name a few. You can even share the screen from your iPhone or other mobile device. As for performance, it Is among the best for what I have seen in this size of projector. The picture is not the brightest in the world. You can few it is a room with lights on, but it really works best in a dark room. The picture is full HD 1080p, so it does look good. The sound is projected in all directions. For the most part, the sound quality is good. If you used this in a loud environment, it may be hard to hear. But for small groups, there should be no problem with the built-in speakers, especially if the volume is turned all the way up. As for using this projector as a gaming projector, it will work for having fun. If you are using it for shooter games or other online gaming, lag may become a bit of an issue for you. But to suggest this should only be used for gaming is a little unfair. This projector can really do so much more. In the end, I really love the Samsung Freestyle Portable Projector. With the ability to turn any room, any wall, or any ceiling into a screen, it really is a fun projector to have. Then you have the bonus that this projector is portable. So, if you are looking for a portable projector that packs a lot of features in a little package, this may be the one for you. I recommend this projector to anyone.

I had to go through hoops just to get it to play a power point presentation. It’s not just a “plug and play” style projector. Also I was told the picture would be good quality even with light around, but the opposite was actually true. The worst part is I’m stuck with this projector because Best Buy only has a 1 week refund policy and it has to not work properly for me to be able to return it.

Soo I ordered it in store and had it shipped to my house as no Best Buy around me had it. Came quickly. After opening the box I saw it only said freestyle not freestyle gen 2. Did some more digging on the model number and found they had sent me the wrong projector. Beat buy swears it’s the right one but I can assure you the model number for the first gen and 2gen do not match up. Other than that the gen one isn’t bad. Just wish I coulda gotten my gen2 as I paid the price for the gen 2.

It seems to be very good, but after an hour of use it starts to freeze, I have good internet but it freezes, and I have to turn it off and start everything again to get it back to normal.

Item does not work. I tried to set up but it get switch off in middle in the process of setting up and then I am unable to start. I called customer care even they could not resolve it. They say that we have tried everything it must be hardware problem. Now I don't know how to return and get new item or redund

Great while it lasted. After only 13 months, it refuses to power on. Samsung will not help. This device has major quality control issues.

Won't price match ($115) when I purchased the item 6 days ago in store.

Good idea poor execution. Perfect for pitch black rooms and shorter throws. Anything over 5’ don’t waste your time.
