Popped it into two other laptops and the same thing happened, so the flash drive was definitely defective. I was surprised as I've never had a problem with any other SanDisk flash drive.

The USB plug extends and retracts only with great difficulty, and is so tight inside USB sockets that it is difficult to plug in. It seems to be poorly made and I will be taking it back for a refund or credit on another make.

Not one single anti-virus program I tried to use would recognize it. Kapersky, AVG, etc. Not unknown programs. Ended up using an old USB stick I had and it was detected by these programs immediately. So this stick was useless to me and has never been used. Waste of money.

When I finally got it to show up, it would not allow me to save anything. Formatting it was a no go as well. The computer stated that it was "Write Protected." I will be taking it back or exchanging it for a new one.

Please allow us to inform you that all the SanDisk® products are manufactured on a strong hardware to sustain daily usages. Also, you are observing is the difference in the definition of one Gigabyte by Operating Systems versus all Storage device manufacturers. Operating systems use a binary system which will present a lower number of GBs than the decimal based system used by Storage Device manufacturers to define the capacity of products. This is due to the binary system representing a GBs as a higher number of actual bytes.
For example: Operating systems define a 1GB as 1,073,741,824 Bytes. Storage device manufacturers define 1GB as 1,000,000,000 bytes.

Do not buy for boot purposes!

SanDisk has locked down this drive under a partition that does not like cooperating with boot media. Great for storage only though.

I cannot format , write or delete anything on this. Unfortunately i tossed by receipt so I am not sure if I can return it.
