This is actually my third purchase of the Sandisk drives. I have a 1TB and second 2TB drives. They have been the most reliable drive for me. I use them for my photography and when I DJ.

Solid ssd, only issue is the cords, after awhile they start to loose connection and eject the drive. Some more often than others but no issues with the ssd itself.

    SanDisk Extreme Pro failures

Ooof, my SSD died. I've probably used it for maybe 20 hours total, and when I went to use it again today, it's dead. I've been reading the articles about the 4TB and 2TB drives failing, and hoped that mine wouldn't be in that boat. I was wrong. I'd stay away from the Extreme Pro models for now.

This item works extremely well and it's really fast to edit off. The one and only issue I've had is that it has erased EVERYTHING and formatted on its own! Everything is gone. No way to recover it. NOTHING available. I always eject safely too.

Failed after about 7 Months :(

I’ve used only SanDisk products for all my Multimedia career and stand behind their products but unfortunately, for the first time, I’m dealt with this Extreme Pro 2TB just starting to have issues after 7 months… It was connected, I went to the bathroom and I came back wondering why no files were on the drive… so I ejected and tried to connect it again but now it is not readable but any device. I have an Extreme 1TB that is still doing fine (fingers crossed) after several years but this newer, Extreme Pro 2TB one worked amazing up until about 2 hrs ago. Been doing research online and realized there was a major issue from multiple users including a lawsuit as well! I wish I knew before I purchased! My boss and clients are going to be very unhappy. If I still even have a job after this…I hope I can recover the data :(

    Corruption Problem

Finally decided to get this on sale. I was excited for 2mb/sec speeds. Unfortunately the SanDisk - Extreme Pro Portable 2TB External USB-C NVMe SSD - Black, became corrupted over 4 times. I had to keep reformatting or ChkDsk repair but after a short while of transferring or using the SSD it would become corrupted again. I finally gave up. My other three 1gb and 2gb External SanDisk SSD's work just fine. I've had them for more then a year and only had one of them get corrupted but I was able to return it for a new one and it's been working fine since. I'm hoping that this is a fluke or a bad batch (SKU:6427554, Model: SDSSDE81-2T00-G25) that got pass the testers because I would like to keep using their products. I will get another SSD and see how it fairs. Will probably try the 4GB this time. Fingers crossed. I'm giving it an extra star only because I have other SanDisk product that work fine. I would also still recommend picking one up because they are otherwise great, just make sure to test the heck out of them right away in case you need to return it or get a new one.

It’s a great little ssd. I have it hooked up to a 3.2 gen 2 usb connection and I’m only getting 1Gbps is my only complaint. The description said it is supposed to get 2Gbps

Despite it’s tiny appearance, this drive hs proven wildly durable and has the fastest data transfer speed of all ~12 or so drives I have in rotation. It’s quickly become my go-to favorite. I use large, complex design and image files and work between an iMac Pro desktop and my MacBook Pro (2nd gen M chip, i think?) and I can easily work directly off the drive on both setups. It plays nicely with the massive LaCie drive that is my central source of truth. I’ll be getting another, for sure.

This item should have been recall. It needed a firmware update because it kept asking for reformat even though it was formatted got a hold of technical support. They were no help. I had to figure out how to update the driver myself.. now it works okay. But you have to update the firmware driver which means you download the driver, put it on the actual drive and run it

Have been using 3 other of the SanDisk 1TB & 2TB for a few years now. When I was ready to buy another, I opted for the faster data transfer (this one here). I use it play video files on my television. I had about 15GB to transfer from my Mac and before the transfer was complete, got a notice that I need to eject the drive before disconnecting. I didn't touch the thing during transfer. I have had unplugged one by mistake before and I haven't had a problem with corrupting the files. My Mac and my television don't recognize the drive. Thought I was paying more for better quality... not with this one.

Very nice data storage drive. I thought I could get away with a 1 TB. I saw this on sale , why not try the pro level 2 TB. I was surprised how much Data I really had. This one is easy access and works great.

Great drive, but I don’t know that it’s as fast as advertised. I have several of the “non pro” models and this one does not seem to transfer data any faster.
