Amazing controller!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Hello friends and welcome to my review of the new Scuf Omega WL gaming controller. My unit is an early one for sure because the packaging I received it in was upside down. So when I opened it everything fell out the bottom. I'm guessing this was just an early mistake and is fixed by now. Other than that the packaging is well done with the least amount of waste they could. Scuf also has a digital user manual, which is good because most folks only look at it one time and it goes to the landfill. Aside from all that I must say that I like this controller a lot! Yes it is a premium product, and yes it feels like one in the hand. The first thing I noticed is just how nice the materials they made this out of feels. It has a texture that is just nice, and the plastic is not cheap feeling at all. This makes you want to play for long periods of time. It is much better than a standard controller by a mile. That is just the beginning of what this controller can do. First off Scuf gives you more buttons than ever with buttons added on the sides and the bottom. And with a PC you can configure every one of them to what you want them to do. If you are using it with a PS5, then it allows for G1 and G5 to be anything you want. Then there is the game-play with this controller. I did not think that the original controller could get much better, I was wrong. This controller is so much easier to use, it has very small inputs on the square triangle etc.. It is noticeable as soon as you start using it. It takes way less movement from your fingers to get things moving. That is really nice the faster you want to move thru a game. For FPS games this is a next level of speed. If you read the instructions you will see how Scuf set this up for different types of play. So depending on what type of games you enjoy playing you can customize this controller to your liking. Last but not least this controller has an app. I know you are as surprised as I am. But the App is pretty nice, it allows for a lot of flex-ability in the way you can set up the controller. Things such as sensitivity can be adjusted down to zero. Microphone , volume controls, and audio controls can be adjusted as well as other things, even the lighting . (PC only) Don't forget that the extra buttons on the sides and back can be deleted if you don't need them. And Scuf has lot's of parts and pieces on their site to customize this controller even more! So I highly recommend this new Scuf controller to friends and family, if you are in the market for a premium experience!

Fine Controller with Some Limitations
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a perfectly good controller for a subset of people and with some limitations which I will talk about in a moment. Limitations: First off, this controller has some limitations. You can’t turn on the PS5 from the controller. You must turn it on with the button on the front of the PS5, and then separately turn on the controller. There are no rumble/vibrations and no adaptive triggers. I think the reason for these limitations on all third-party controllers is that Sony has a patent on these features. Buttons and Triggers: The buttons feel a combination of mushy and clicky. It is a matter of taste if you like it. It is not really my style. I’ve tried other Scuf controllers and they all have that feel. The triggers have the average feel which is fine and have normal mode and instant trigger mode that is easy to change between them although done differently than other devices. It has side buttons which I find annoying because I find myself clicking them by accident when I use the bumpers. I also don’t really see the point of them. There are 4 back buttons which I find in a strange location and hard to click. While I find them difficult to press by accident which is good, they are also hard to press intentionally. It does come with covers for the side bumpers and back buttons if they are not in use. These are essential for me. Case: It comes with a nice hard case that does hold some of the accessories but not all. They sell the case separately, which I have bought for some of my other controllers so thumbs up there. Connections: This allows connection using a dongle, USB cable or Bluetooth. For some reason, the dongle didn’t work right away. The USB cable did. It was only after connecting the USB cable to my PS5 for a while that the dongle started working. Weird. I haven’t had any problems with it since. I never tried the Bluetooth connection. Remapping: You can remap the back, side, and front G buttons without the use of an app. I like the ability to customize my hardware without having to install a separate app for each so this is a big win. There are several profiles that you can map. Finally: While I like this controller, I’ve found there are others that are a better fit for me, and don’t have the limitations mentioned above. It is really a matter of personal taste, and it is a perfectly fine controller.

Surprisingly sweet!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm never one to step outside of the company for a controller, Madcatz took care of that long ago during the GameCube era and it's always difficult trusting somebody that isn't the manufacturer to make you a controller. But you know how they say there is an exception to every rule? Well, I'm pretty sure this controller is it. There are some noticeable and interesting differences between what Sony makes and what these guys make. Now obviously this will work with a PlayStation 5 and I went ahead and I tested it on my gaming PC and it works seemlessly on it as well. I enjoy using this controller. The first thing that stands out is the construction. I don't know if it's a good thing or bad thing or my hands are huge but my son says it's the greatest control ever. I let him use it to play Rocket League and I can't seem to get the controller back. With my son and gaming products that is the highest form of flattery. The clicking almost confirmation that you get is definitely different and very affirming in a way. The sound and lighting buttons at the bottom are different and very cool in it of itself. The obvious missing component is the Hepic feedback, but easily missed and not always needed. This controller is good for what it's supposed to be for those of you who need that feedback. It may not be the controller for you but still gets a full five stars because of how awesome it is and the sturdiness of the construction.

Very Customizable
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There is so much good here, however I will start with the negative. Why? Because I only have one issue with this controller. You can't power the PS5 on with it. I did not deduct a star because that is the nature of a dongle connection to the PS5. Initially, until the PS5 knew of the dongle and controller, I could not select my profile either. Subsequent logins had no such issue. The controller is very smooth. The mechanical switches are very nicely done. The directional buttons (D-pad) are connected magnetically, I found that out when I removed the faceplate to change the dipswitches. The right arrow was pointing left. I thought I bent something. :D Speaking of dipswitches. There are two switches under the cover. One is for PC/PS5/Mobile and the other is BT (mobile only), Wired and Wireless (dongle). The cover is magnetically attached, and removes fairly easily. You can swap out the thumb sticks, these are a bit more challenging and require some force. To remove you need to lift straight up. When replacing they snap into place. The thumb sticks are very smooth when moving them. Since they are magnetic (I think I saw that somewhere) they should not suffer from drift that you have with the native sticks. I know there are self lubricating. You can tell they are different from the standard controller. The triggers are fully adjustable to how deep or shallow you want to press. For throttle/brake in a driving game you want full travel. A quick trigger with short travel would be a great adjustment for FPS games. There is a simple rotating knob to adjust the depth of the press. The side buttons and grip buttons are programable through the Android or iPhone app along with the 5 function buttons. Any app changes are saved to onboard memory. There are included covers to remove the side buttons. In PC mode, the touch pad works as a PC touchpad. I recommend the dongle for PC use, there was a noticeable delay with BT IF you have other devices also connected via BT. That could be a function of my PC, but I felt it was worth mentioning. Overall I would definitely recommend this controller, even if I really wish the BT would work with the PS5. The learning curve was pretty quick to figure out what the buttons were by default. This will definitely give you a better feel in games.

Comfy, comfort, and comfortable
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is an excellent controller. It is very simple to use in spite of all the functions it has. The design is not outrageous, consistent with other Corsair SCUF products. But there is one thing that stands out to me: the COMFORT. This is a very comfortable controller, and when I say comfort, it can mean a lot of things. 1) I love dual shock controllers. They just work well in your hands. It took some getting used to when I first got the PS4 then the PS5. It was the start of being more round at the edges. But this SCUF Omega controller is comfortable from the start-- I did not have to hug it. It just works in my hands. My hands are not big but they are wide, and my fingers are more on the shorter end. But when I hold this controller, it just feels right. The ends fall straight into the center of my palm without effort. The rubber that keeps them in place do not make my hands sweaty and they are very grippy. My thumbs fall into place like any other controller but it's how the palm part of my thumbs rest lightly around the bottom front grips that make it easy for me to move my thumb tips from the stick to the buttons. The triggers, for my index and middle fingers, like the position of my thumbs are not any different, but it's the way the rest of my fingers can easily reach the other buttons, such as the back paddle and the side buttons. This comfort made me map the other buttons because I have easy access to them. So now, I can double trigger using my index finger and the back without feeling the fatigue of rapid fire because the insides of my palm are not hanging. I don't even know if I am explaining it well. My hold on this controller just works. It's like this controller was made just for me. 2) When I say comfort, it is also how I trust my device. I know it is not going to fail me. My wired performance does not differ from my wireless performance. I hardly do wired. I only play 3 hours at a time so I don't really run out of battery. Although I already had 3 sessions on a charge and I am still going. But I know that when I need to roll sideways to avoid being shot at point blank, I know it is going to happen. I know when I'm splitting lanes, I can precisely slide in between without side slamming into another vehicle. It's that comfort I have with this controller. It is just very dependable and precise. The feel of the button clicks and the D-pad, the smoothness of the sticks—my characters become a direct extension of how I want me to exactly move. 3) Lastly, the comfort of knowing this can last me. It’s not just the durability of the components because inasmuch as they are replaceable, it is not flimsy to remove and put back such as the sticks and the buttons. I am talking about the ease and provision to replace the components. The case snaps on easily and the way it's snapped on/off does not seem to put any wear on the case or the base. This modular approach matched with durability makes me warm and fuzzy-- I know I can commit to this controller without "leaving" me one day. I know I can be dramatic, but man, I am a one-controller kind of guy. There are a lot of nice-to-haves for me: like the bottom G buttons which are fully mappable on PC, the ease of switching the connection without guessing what mode it is on, the cable security snap-on piece, the quality of the braided cable, the lovely controller case, the light animation when it is turned off, the quality of the wireless dongle and its reliable connection, the ability to drive and shoot with flick of that switch (very helpful in GTA 5), the seamless profile switching, and the android app with its intuitive interface-- all these are great, Corsair. Believe me. They are well done. But how this controller makes me comfortable is far up there for me. And I thank you for this experience. Now enough of this because I want to get back to my 4x heist points session.

Mega Awesome Controller
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The SCUF Omega PS5 Controller is a high quality functional product that is competitive and casual gamer friendly. The controller comes with blanking plates, a USB dongle, and a USB-C cable. The overall build includes textured grips and replaceable joysticks. You can also change between standard or instant triggers, both of which are very useful depending on what game you’re playing. However, the most important part of the build is the magnetic faceplate, which comes off easily and is very important for keeping it clean and avoiding problems like dust and stick drift. The only negative is that unlike the standard PS5 controller, this one doesn’t include any vibration or sound mechanics. Unlike other controllers, the SCUF Omega also has 6 extra buttons, with 1 on either side and 4 on the back, all of which can be easily customized and remapped at any point. They don’t have any unique purposes but it comes with blanking plates for casual users who may accidentally press them or don’t need them. It also includes 5 G buttons at the bottom, which also can be reprogrammed although you need the app to do so. This controller connects to PC, PS5, and mobile. It also includes bluetooth, although it only works to connect with mobile devices. However, the included USB-C cable and USB dongle allow the user to choose between wired or wireless connection for either PC or PS5 connection. In terms of performance and connection, there were no issues found with delay, sudden disconnection or lag, plus it was also very easy to get the controller to connect. Overall, the Corsair SCUF Omega PS5 controller is clearly targeted towards the competitive gamer audience, but both competitive and casual users can both use and appreciate this controller. It offers high quality performance, gameplay for any genre of games, solid connectivity, and is worth buying.
