Nice controller, but not as customizable as others

To begin, this controller is indeed a wired controller as advertised. There is no battery. If you unplug it, it does not work (just as advertised). The cord is pretty long (about 10 feet or so, I'm guessing). If that is not long enough, I am guessing any USB-A to USB-C cable (in a longer length) would work. The controller is comfortable and is akin to virtually any other Xbox Series S|X controller on the market in terms of form factor. There are "paddle" buttons on the underside of the controller, but they are "built in" to the controller in a different way that makes them seem less like paddle buttons than just extra buttons on the underside of the controller. (A couple of those buttons can actually be removed and replaced with a flat piece that removes the "bump" associated with the button.) The thumbsticks can apparently be replaced with a convex stick (as opposed to the concave stick that is on the controller by default). I was not able to figure out how to make this change easily, however, so did not explore it further. (Unlike some customizable controllers that use magnetic sticks that just pull off, this controller seemed different in that regard.) The D-pad is pretty straightforward and appears to be a permanent part of the controller (it does not appear to be replaceable). The feel and accuracy of the thumbsticks is what one would expect. Strangely, the select and menu buttons seem to be a little higher on the controller than on other controllers and it took me a little getting used to it as, when I went to press the buttons without looking, my thumbs landed on the plastic of the controller, below the buttons. Not a big deal, but struck me as a little odd. Ultimately, I am not sure what the appeal of this controller would be compared to a standard Xbox controller that ships with the Xbox. A typical controller with batteries can still be plugged in, just like this unit, if you wanted. Aside from the quasi-paddle buttons and the ability to change out the thumbsticks, I personally did not find anything in this controller to make it worth the investment. It is comfortable, works as it should, and is a good, quality controller, but so too is a regular 'ole Xbox controller.

Pro Quality Tied Down at a Price

A Pro controller with great features for about half the price? What’s the catch? It’s wired! I really do love this controller, even if I’m tethered by an obscenely long USB-A to USB-C cable, and my family members are tripping over the cord all day. The magnetic faceplate is awesome and makes changing out the thumb sticks so easy. If I want to switch from a FPS to something else, it only takes seconds for the swap. What makes this better is the profile button, where you can store different button/paddle mappings into one of three profiles. I can jump right in without having to spend so much time remapping every time I start the game. I would probably have bought another faceplate now if they were available, but unfortunately they aren’t (as of this writing). I love being able to switch the triggers from normal function to mouse-click functionality. The volume control wheels are fantastic. It’s great that I don’t have to keep jumping into the settings menus to adjust the volume. Quick muting makes them that much better. If you can live with being connected to a super long USB cable when on your couch, I would definitely recommend this controller.
