Great external hard drive. Very easy set-up. Would purchase again.

Very nice to have one place to store all my movies on. A little bit bulky to take with you on the go, but can hold tons of movies and pictures.

I purchased this drive specifically to act as a DVR for DISH Network. With DISH, if you have certain boxes, you can use your own external hard drive as a DVR with a one-time whole house activation fee. The external drive must be powered by an AC cord, not just by USB. This fit the bill perfectly and works flawlessly. A great buy.

Some hard disk drive names are very similar. The exact name of my product is: Seagate Expansion 2TB External USB 3.0 Hard Drive Black Seagate Model Number: STBV2000100 BestBuy SKU: 5998345 I logged in specially to write this review cuz i just tried out this hard drive for the first time and the speed floored me. I transferred a 1GB video in 5 seconds. That's 200MB/s. That's really high. Now, it was on a beefy laptop--HP Envy 17t with Core i7 and an HM87 chipset and USB 3.0 ports. And the laptop is relatively new, so still pretty fast. Still, we know the disk is at least capable of running at those speeds. Some other comments: It is a 3.5" drive. Not a portable drive. They call it a desktop drive. Portable drives are smaller, 2.5" drives. They are a little smaller than your hand. Thin. Portable drives usually have just the usb cable, and that provides both data transfer and power. The one i bought (and nearly all 3.5" desktop drives) is bigger. Maybe the size of a hardcover book. And it has 2 cable connections, not just 1: one usb cable plugs in for data transfer, and a second cable connection for power with an adapter that plugs into the wall. Sometimes the power cable has a adapter brick. This one the adapter is in the plug. So this one then is bigger and less convenient. However, desktop drives tend to be faster, which is what i wanted.

Worked well until it failed which is not a good thing with a hard drive after less than thirty days.
