I was looking for a drive that was on sale on the website, but after going into the local store I found this drive (which is larger) for the same price!! Awesome deal BestBuy!

Buyers should be aware that the Seagate drive model numbers on the exterior package label may not be what is ine box. They will alway provide a drive that at least matches theb specifications advertised. In my case, the contents was actually a SATA 3 model, rather than at SATA 2. No complaints there. My main disappointment is with quality control. I Seem to get a high number of defective drives out of the box with this brand. Other than that the drive are a good value, and BB has always been good with me on returns.

I thought I was purchasing a Seagate model number ST3500641AS-RK. I opened the box ... it turns out o be a ST3500418AS; even the part number was different (at least the serial number is the same). With all the hullaballoo about Seagate swapping these drives and the failing, I'll have to wait and see. I purchased 2 of these drives before with no problems (they had the correct model number and all), and I never had problems with Seagate before ... my fingers are crossed and I'm knocking on wood. I have always recommended these drives but now I'm hesitant.

Great speed, great price and a trustworthy brand. I have no complaints about this product. I use it for HD video editing and have it as my second 'Media' hard drive.

Wanted to try windows 8 but did not want to add it to my existing hard drive. Thought it would be better to have a disignated drive for Windows Worked out great.

First and foremost! If you plan on buying this hard drive, make sure you have a windows installation cd with service pack 1. If not you're o/s will detect this hard drive as 127 GB instead of 500. Tech support was horrible and only offered two solutions - Go buy a new Windows Installation CD or format the hard drive in a friends computer and reinstall windows on the formatted drive. The hard drive makes ALOT of noise. Hopefully I will get used to the clicking sounds and constant murmer when I access or save files.

This great little drive was on sale and just the right size for what my gf needs. Transferred her old drive's contents and still had 2/3 left available.

I purchased two of the Barracuda drives because my company has had great results with Seagate drives before. Not these. First, some info about the drives. These are half width drives, a specification not noted on the packaging, which is great for installation drives, but less than ideal for use with external bays, though still usable. They run very cool while being very fast, and their 16mb cache ensures they're faster still. That's all good. However, they're extremely error prone, and this may also be related to their cache. I've had windows 7 check them for errors 30% of the time I start them up, require reformatting them at least twice, and I have zero confidence in them at this point. I wish I could exchange them, but best buy's customer service has been mute about this. Maybe they're good internal drives, but don't buy them to use with an external dock!

I needed a new hard drive and bought and installed this one. It works just like any hard drive should.

good price with good transfer software. This is the1st time I've had the software actually transfer an entire drive with OS and not had problems

Be sure to get a HD with long warranty. This seems to be the most likely component to fail in a PC.

This product is great. Highly recommended. I've had great luck with Maxtor, which Seagate bought. You can trust this product.

I bought this drive when it was $100 which at the time was a good deal. It worked great until it died with no warning. I was watching movies the other night and shut down my PC instead of sleeping it.Next morning I start up my PC and no hard drive. It died with NO WARNING AT ALL. The only reason I am not completely livid over the situation is because I have an external backup drive so all I lost were my favorites.I just RMA'd it yesterday, the replacement better not break on me as well like other reviews have stated. How am I supposed to trust that he new one isn't going to fail as well now? I am extremely disappointed because other Seagate drives I have owned have been great....I guess we will see.

Computer moisture damaged existing hard drive. Need to replace was quick repair solution. Affordable option.

This drive worked well for my mother board that could not use a drive above 500GB.

I have used several brands of hard drives both internal and external. I have yet to have a Seagate fail.
