Only a One Year Warranty
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. One reason that I decided to go with this drive is that the online write up on the Best Buy site states that it is covered by a 5 year warranty. After I got the drive installed, I looked at the material included in the box and I examined the box itself more closely; it is only covered for 1 year by Seagate. This is so short a time period that I consider it to be pitiful. I wish I had noticed this before I left the store with it.

It died with no warning
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It lasted 14 months (should I consider myself lucky?). I had it installed as an auxilliary drive, & tried to do a backup to it, and the backup failed. I jotted down the error numbers, and decided to look into it tomorrow. There was no tomorrow. When I tried to boot up the next day, it took 30 minutes to boot. I put in my windows disk to attempt a repair, and the computer wouldn't respond to the DVD in the drive, a sure sign of hardware failure. I removed the Seagate drive, and my computer sprung to life. I will now shop for a new drive, but not a Seagate.

Bait and Switch
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had the same experience as Besley below. When I checked the product at our local store here in East Orlando, the drive was actually the ST3500320AS! Says it right on the drive. The clerk at Best Buy agreed that this is really dirty on Seagate's part. I got an instant refund. You have been warned! Do not buy this drive, regardless what the box says.

This is a bad drive model - don't buy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this in April 2009, it died first of December 2009. Just died. One minute surfing the internet, next minute rebooting computer and the drive isn't recognized. Nothing - no matter what cable, slot, power cord, order of boot - just dead. I'm trying the freezer trick now - hoping to recover one or two things if that'll work some magic. Don't buy this one - buy some other model.

3 Months Old and Failing
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this because I had great luck with my older Barracuda 7200.10s (ST3500630AS). Instead, this drive is showing bad sectors after 3 months of light use. For the noobs, that means the drive is failing and data loss is occurring. Stay away from this drive.

Failed after 6 weeks
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I thought I was getting a good deal. Picked this up for $90.00. Six weeks later - I'm in a data recovering panic. This drive failed hard and failed fast. This is the second Seagate drive I have had that failed shortly after being put in to service. Spend the extra $30-$40 and get a good quality HD. (and backup often!)

Bad Experience with Product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Trusted the Seagate name and the fact that it was sold via Best Buy. This produce died in less than 3 months! I would not recommend this product to anyone.

Worst Drive ever
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this drive in July because it seem like a good price and good name. In under 90 days it developed a click of death without warning. I have not been able to read this drive since.

Very dissapointing drive
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This drive is the biggest waste of money, don't trust Seagate for reliability. Went through 2, 500GB drives, 1, 350GB Drive and 1, 100GB drive. All Seagate drives died and spinned out in 4 months with very limited use. Buyers Beware!!!!!!!!!!
