Easy setup

Great for Time Machine backups

I then continue to use the hard drive for other purposes. I always buy Seagates and they always last many years.

Great if you have windows 8

Not the drive's "fault" but would have been nice to have this spelled out in the instructions. All 2 GB or higher back-up drives now have this problem. You have to use a "work around" from Seagate to fix this issue.

Good value and reliable

It is a nice size for 3 TB. I bought a smaller portable by the same brand, but my MacBook had trouble recognizing it. This was probably due to the fact that it used my MacBook as its power source - there was no electrical connection. Best Buy had a great price for this product and it does a good job as a backup. I would have liked to have a Thunderbolt connection, but as of now this doubles the price of the hardrive. I love Apple products, but if they want to advance this Thunderbolt technology, they need to make it more cost effective. For now buy this external hard drive with the USB 3 connection.

Would not back up windows 7 automatically

Not able to do from the box and I am not at all handy so caused lots of grief so I now back up disk image to one source and files to another. Not ideal and perhaps fixable but .....???

Great for Xbox One

I decided to try this external drive based on others recommendations and it is working great. I now have plenty of space and the load speed on games is noticeably faster than the internal drive.
