Not compatable for back up with Windows7

After several failed back up attempts, I looked around online. I found that the large Seagate hard drives, for some reason, won't back up a disc image with Windows 7. It will store pictures, music, video, and everything else without a problem. I ended up reformatting my original external hard drive for back up and just using the Seagate for general storage. I feel like I wasted my time and money buying this.
