Not too much to it... plug it in, setup the dashboard backup software with the defaults and let it do what it’s supposed to do. Installed it on a Windows 8 machine. I’ve always had great luck with Seagate… knocking on wood right now!

I know it says slim in the title but I didn't think it would be this slim! Plenty of room for my photos and movies. Almost a year and I don't think I have any issues with it at all! Still plenty of room left also.

If you've ever experienced a computer crash, I highly suggest this external hard drive, so that if it happens to you, your information is saved & may be downloaded to the new/repaired device

After all the BS I went though Seagate, I gave up and turned to this. only regret, I just wish I did it after the 1st return. Lost a TB (went from 2 to 1) but no problems. Connected, runs, quiet. Loving It.

I needed an external drive to match with my Mac. The Seagate - Backup Plus Slim for Mac 2TB External USB 3.0 Portable Hard Drive - Silver was just what the doctor ordered. It is very compact so it takes up little space on my desk but provides 2TB of storage for all of my files. I have had no issues with it and would recommend it to anyone needing an external drive for their Mac.

I use these drives for backing up a large photo library as well as virtual machines for servers. The USB 3 interface is amazingly fast and error-free. I highly recommend these drives for everyone from amateur to pro.

I needed back up capability with lots of elbow room for future savings to my hard drive. This has that and more. I have it programmed to back up all my files on a schedule that is convenient to me.

This external hard drive is literally the best buy option for your money. This hard drive won't fail like the others. Enough storage space for everything!

So far so good. Nothing wrong so far. I mainly use it to store hd pictures and videos taken with my camera, phonen and gopro. It's really small and portable too, so i am able to take it with me wherevet i go!

Its a nice USB3 Drive that I am using as a backup. I do not leave it plugged into my systems so I cannot speak to heating and possible expected life. As with all but Network Attached Devices, I suggest you do NOT leave it plugged in and used as an extra drive...

I have had some terrible experiences in the past with having hard drives failing on me or not showing on computers when plugged in. But for some months now I have been very impressed by the consistency of this little hard drive. The size of this hard drive is impressive and makes is super easy to take on trips with me. I use it primarily for backing up laptop and photography use. So far very please and would recommend.

I was able to easily partition the drive. I use it for Time Machine backups (one partition) and for file storage (another partition). With Time Machine, it is very easy to make a backup.

Really easy to use, plug it in and go. The drive is small, light weight so you can throw it in your back pack and go or keep it in a drawer.

I you have a need for an external hard drive to have enough storage capacity, the Seatgate Backup Plus provides 2 TB of space to accomodate those backups without fear of space problems

I needed someplace to store raw video footage before editing. Seagate 2TB is working great. Easy instructions to re format for MAC and turn off pre-loaded software. It's doing just what I need.
