Q: is it compatible with Dish Network
A: Yes. I have the Hopper without the Sling. It works perfectly. Plug in the power first and then plug in the USB. Your DVR should recognize the device, immediately. It will ask you a few formatting questions. Just click yes. Use the menu option on your remote and go to external hard drives. From here you can select to move data from your Hopper to your External Device. It will take you to your DVR's saved movies and shows. Just start transferring. You can transfer an entire season, but it may take a while. It may take hours, depending on your Internet connection. Don't worry. You can still watch TV while in the transfer process. I also have 3 Joeys. You can access your external hard drive from the other rooms without having to unplug anything. It was easy and it works. I would recommend this product.
Q: What does backward compatible with USB 2.0 for simple connection to your computer mean?
A: Backward comparable with USB 2.0 means that even if your pc is older or does not have a USB 3.0 port this product will still work. The transfer will not be as fast but all the features will still function without any problems.
A: This comes with both a USB cable to connect to your computer, as well as an adapter to plug it into your wall. So you can use it w/o the adapter, as long as you have it plugged into/installed on your computer.

A: I had to return it it did not work with my iMac

A: YES!!! it works excellent with xbox one. just so you know. when you configure it, you will actually be getting 1.8 TB of space. still that is more than enough for most people
