Great item for the computer to give it extra memory

WARNING, this uses SMR technology! If you frequently work with, and modify, large files (20GB+), be prepared to wait while the drive rewrites itself. 45 minutes of work, 2 hours of waiting for it to respond.

I bought this to back up my computer in an external case. After I'd backed up about 5 TB of stuff the drive stopped responding. I tried moving it to another case, connecting it to another computer, and still no response (it is no longer seen), but placing another hard drive into the same cases show no problem. I would return the drive except it is full of non-encrypted personal data (including financial stuff).

There was no cable inside. I thought it was included.

My star choice is not for the product its that it cannot be used as an NAS mycloud storage. I would recommend this product if you are not going to use this as a cloud storage NAS drive.

Initial unit had to be RMA'd they did send a new one within about 3 weeks(after making me pay for shipping) then I used it for 2 weeks and it catastrophically died... do not recommend

Over price, i have had internal hard drives and they where not as loud.

Very good for a retro gaming drive. Not too loud and plenty of storage.

Starts to make noise 1 week after installation, the periodic kind.

Drawbacks: 1) Frequently and easily fragmented. 2) Unstable when I download files. 3) Copying files onto this HD could be as slow as 2 Mb/sec especially when I was downloading files. 4) May freeze and slow down Chrome. I returned this HD and found a good internal HD from WD. My experience for external HD is exactly opposite between WD and Seagate. WD's external 8TB HD runs too hot (i.e., >55 deg C).

I returned the drive since it failed shortly after I installed it.

I used to be a Western Digital only HD user, but lately the quality seems to have dropped. This is my fourth Seagate drive in the last few years and they seem to hold up better.

this is an AMAZING SSD. The only thing that made me super frustrated is that there is a 20 TB one for the SAME PRICE AS THE 8 TB I JUST GOT! How is that fair??

I bought this in May. Return period ended in June. Now, July 10, the drive is dead. Is this what we should expect from Seagate?

Stay way from this drive. Failed a few months after purchase. No warranty from vendor either . . .

This drive was dead on arrival when i purchased it. Never going with Seagate again
