  • Cool concept but doesn’t last long

    The concept of having these lights is pretty cool and they’re super cool when they work. I got a couple of these lights for free when I purchased some echos for Christmas and it appears that the lifespan isn’t too great when using them in lamps. The lights would be unresponsive much more often than responsive. When this happens you have to screw the bulb into a reciprocal that is operated by a light switch (like a bathroom or kidcbdn light) flip the switch off and on 5 times in order to reset it. Then when putting it back in the lamp it goes out without warning again. This has happened to two of my light bulbs so perhaps I’d try a different brand the next time.

    I have dozens of smart bulbs in my home. This one came free with a new Echo Dot purchase and all I can say is I’m glad I didn’t pay for it. It was the least intuitive of any smart bulb I own to setup. Once I figured out that it didn’t require an app like the others, I thought that was a good thing. But when I started having trouble with it I quickly came to realize that not having an app to troubleshoot it wasn’t so great. This bulb was (emphasis on WAS) in a lamp 5 feet away from my Alexa device and 15 feet away from my Wi-Fi router yet it continually had network connectivity issues. I finally replaced it with another brand smart bulb which is working perfectly.

    We love all of our Alexa connected devices, including the smart bulbs! They are convenient products that are easy to set up and now we have a routine for our lights when we are not home.
