Interesting LED Starter kit, great value with Pack
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Sengled - Smart LED A19 Starter Kit with Multicolor bulbs is a product that needs an introduction; it's a good thing it was bundled with an ArloPro camera system! While a bit complicated to get set up, the possibilities for the Sengled system is intriguing. This is an emerging product market segment that will be interesting to watch.

Nice, but started to malfunction.
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I owned these for about a week or so, and the first few days in, the lights had started to turn on by themselves. I had dismissed it, though this problem kept persisting, and after a few hours, the lights would change colours and flash spontaneously, while I was sleeping, waking me up constantly.

Great addition to a smart home
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As smart homes go, one of the easiest and essential upgrades should be your lighting system. Whether it is your switches, or bulbs. Having control over the cost, timing, and mood of any room in your home is the gold standard in our tech driven word. Here is where the Sengled element smart bulb system give you the best of both worlds; from easy setup and configuration to total control it has it all. I plugged the Sengled hub into my router and then connected to the hub through the Sengled Element Home app on my Android phone (an iPhone version is also available). When you set up the hub and the bulbs for the first time, Sengled says it will plant a tree for each of its light you install, with the goal of reaching 1 million trees. You can select the continent on which the trees will be planted. I thought this was pretty cool. The setup process is very straightforward. You plug the hub directly into your router with the Ethernet cable provided in the kit. Power it up, follow the instructions on the app to pair the hub to your network (you’ll need your network password), and the app will let you know when you’re all connected. You then go to the app to identify the locations of your bulbs in the house. As you set up the app, you’ll identify the rooms where your bulbs are located. I put my three in multiple rooms and levels for purposes of the test. Your home screen on the app now serves as your master control. This is where you can control your lighting options, color, brightness, on/off times and many more. This is as also where you name your bulbs, which allows you the convenience of saying hey Google turn of the light in the bedroom with your Google Home. In addition to on-demand control, you have the ability to schedule the lighting by room by tapping the “advanced” button. Here you can set a wake up time to turn the lights on, or two different scheduled events. This includes a start time, end time, brightness, and what days of the week to repeat the function. With two scheduled events available, this means that you could set multiple events for a single room if desired. It’s important to note that the scheduled event either happens on the day it is set, or is repeated each day that you select in the interface. You cannot schedule for a specific date range, like a vacation. According to Sengled a single hub can support 64 bulbs. I don’t imagine needing an additional hub unless you’re pushing the 120 foot range of the hub itself. Hardware specs: Bulbs: 9 W, 60 hz 4.41” by 2.42” (standard socket size) 800 lumens, 2700 K Color Temperature Dimmable with app 240 degree beam angle 25,000 hour lifetime Hub: 3.07” by 1.02” 2.4 GHz 120 foot range 64 bulb management capacity Overall, I love the easy set up and the option to add up to 64 bulbs to one hub. The disadvantages in my opinion are the brightness of the lights and you can't use the bulbs with IFTTT or an Apple HomeKit as well. The app itself can be a little clunky at times as well. It is not a deal breaker for me, as I would still purchase the product again and recommend to my friends and family.

Great Color! App Still Needs Work
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We’ve been enjoying the Soft White bulbs for a few months, so adding the adjustable color bulbs has been a lot of fun. Note: the set of instructions in the box advises to download the “Sengled Element Home” App (green icon). Because this App is no longer supported, you’ll be directed to download the “Sengled Home” App (red icon). The Hub & Bulb setup isn’t complicated, but it can be glitchy. It took several attempts, including re-setting the Hub, before it finally paired. Same experience with the bulbs. One bulb paired immediately, but the next took several tries including a reset (turn fixture on/off quickly 10 times, then wait for bulb to flash). Once the Hub & bulbs are paired, the fun begins! The bulbs are very customizable. There are 3 main adjustment features in the App. There are sliders to adjust brightness & color temperature. And there’s a trackpad-style feature to allow full spectrum color options. The ability to turn lights on/off when away from home is a key security feature. You can also set an on/off schedule. The color bulbs are also a huge hit in the children’s bedrooms. Overall, the bulbs & hub combo are a good buy if they’ll just continue to improve the App.

Not compatible with wi-fi
||Posted . Owned for 11 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. You have to hook up the hub to your ethernet box to be able to actually use the color features from the light bulb. I guess it's too much to ask for wireless access. The worst part is that it doesn't even state this anywhere in the description.

No luck in setting these up
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've spent an hour or 2 trying to get these things to work and my ex girlfriend that is a computer geek also tried to get these thing to work thru the hub and with my Alexa with no luck. For $50 for 2 light bulbs - this should be easier to work with.

Easy to Setup, Works Great!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love these, and they are very easy to setup. First you will need to download the Sengled Home app. Then the easiest way to get started is to connect the base unit to an ethernet cable from your router. Once your get the initial setup out of the way by selecting what WiFi network you would like to use, you will no longer need to use the ethernet cable. This makes it very easy to hide the base unit. All you need is a outlet at this point and you can tuck the base unit wherever you want. All three lights come pre-synced to the base unit. All that's left is naming the locations you put the lights. After doing this you have access to more controls of each bulb/group. You can control brightness, color temperature, and change the color to whatever you desire. You can also set schedules for each bulb. I have one bulb in my bedroom, and two in my "office". I have also paired this system with Google Home, and I love the fact that I can turn them on with just my voice, as well as select whatever color, brightness, and color temperature without using the app. Quick tip for changing color temperature with your voice, say "ok google, change color to warm white", "cool white", "bright white", etc.

Home automation is fun
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These bulbs are a real nice addition to my home; I have wall sconces in my basement so these make perfect party lights. The installation was pretty straight-forward. I was a little annoyed that I had to create yet another login, but it seems like that's normal. I have several other devices that have a network bridge, so I'm used to it. One nice feature of this network bridge is that it has wifi capability, so once I set it up, I can unplug the ethernet and tuck it away somewhere. It has a USB adapter cord so I was able to power it with another device that happened to have a USB port free. That made it super convenient. The setup was also pretty normal. Like my other smart devices, the setup had the 3 bulbs listed but no easy way to tell which is which. It would be super cool if there were a "toggle power" button on the setup app. I didn't have my reading glasses handy, so I went through trial and error to identify the bulbs rather than trying to read their serial numbers. It was also pretty easy to add them to Google Home. It did remember the names I gave the bulbs, but I had to re-ad them to locations. No biggie but still can be improved. The fun part is controlling them. I can shout at Google Home to tell them which colors to shine, and it is a lot of fun to experiment with the lighting. They can be controlled separately or in groups. I'm happy with these, they were reasonably easy to install and setup and they do what they're supposed to do.

Versatile color schemes
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I received this kit at no cost for an honest review. I first heard of Sengled about a year ago, and I was wary about a knockoff wifi lighting company I hadn't heard of. Well, fast forward to now, where I've owned several of their products and I gotta say, they are high quality and very user friendly. These lights have very clear definition of the color you choose, and they are very versatile. Some lights I've seen, you choose a yellow color, but instead you get an Amber, you choose red, bit get pink. Not so with these. These appear to be true to the colors available and the intensity or brightness of the light. The lights come with a hub which can be connected wirelessly but you must first plug it in to the Ethernet cable (included) and then you can either leave it connected wired, or go wireless. You can connect up to 50 bulbs per hub, and lights must be within 180 feet. As far as the app, it is user-friendly and takes you step by step on how to install and use. There are different lighting scenes depending on your mood, or you may Aldo customize your own scene. Scheduled lighting is available and so is pairing with Google Home and Amazon's Alexa. I will definitely consider Sengled as a top contender (but probably much-better priced) when it comes to choosing wifi lighting needs. When installing, follow instructions just as written because that's how it'll work perfectly. I recommend these and they worked perfectly for me.

there is nothing SMART about this Sengled SmartHub
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I would have given -5 stars if I had an option to do that. It was very hard for me to set up this kit and make it work successfully. I tried with two set of starter kits but I ended up wasting 2 hours of time. I got this kit with offer from BestBuy and tried to set it up. The hub set up was easy but the bulbs were not getting detected by the hub at all or even in the app. Tried auto set up, using the QR Scanner and also using the Serial number. Nothing worked. Returned it and bought another starter kit from BestBuy and tried again. Nothing new except wasting time switching on and off the bulbs for troubleshooting for more than 500 times in the process.

Worst user experience ever, avoid these bulbs
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I never write reviews, but after investing over $300 on their bulbs and hubs in five different rooms, their app has completely stopped working. I keep getting "phone not connected to internet" errors. Did a search for their app reviews, and it's apparently happening to everyone else too. I've passed the return window, so now I'm stuck with hardware that is useless due to poor software engineering or lack of it. I have one room with Philip's Hue bulbs that are working fine. I recommend spending the extra for the Philips, cause the Sengled is most unreliable product I've bought.

Nice lights. Inconsistent app.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just in time for the Holiday season, I got these with the goal of adding some complementary lighting to our home over Thanksgiving and Christmas. Setup was as simple as could be: I installed the Sengled Home app on my (Android) phone, connected the hub to my network with the included patch cable and powered it up. The app saw everything right away and I was able to configure the hub, associate the 3 bulbs, create rooms, and assign the bulbs to rooms/groups quite easily. Although you can configure the hub to function off the network wirelessly I chose to leave it wired. The Sengled Home hub is powered by a standard USB-A adapter and port on one end, but unfortunately the hub-end of the cable is not standard which makes the cable unnecessarily restrictive. I’d much rather the hub side of the cable be USB-C, or even the older Micro-USB. I’d also like to have seen PoE as an option to give a little more freedom from needing to be tied to a nearby power outlet at all. Grouping the bulbs together is easy and is helpful for setting groups of bulbs to the exact same color shade. The preset options are Edison (very orange), Warm, Neutral, Cool, and Daylight, increasing in pure-whiteness color temperature progressively. If you want to set a color though then there is a color selection panel below the presets. While this works for picking colors, there is no way I saw to save the color you pick as a new preset or to set the RGB values yourself directly. So long as the bulbs are grouped this probably isn’t a problem because they will all change to the matching color at the same time. But, if you have bulbs that are not grouped and want them to be the exact same color you may find it difficult to achieve since, other than the presets mentioned before, there is no way to repeatedly set the exact same color. You can get pretty close manually, but it would be great if the app gave you the ability to save custom color choices so that you can specifically retrieve and use them later, even across different rooms or individual bulbs. You can also schedule the lights and the app gives three “slots”. The first two slots are functionally the same -- allowing you to set on time, off time, and to select a lighting preset. If you don’t pick a preset here the lights will instead power up at the last color and brightness used. What’s missing is that the scheduler does not let you pick any colors here, only the presets are listed with no color picker chart shown where you’d expect it to be based on the normal lighting options. The 3rd schedule slot is special wherein the lights will turn on and gradually get brighter at the designated time to facilitate a progressive wake-up lighting experience. Other than a few inconsistencies and limits in the app I found this kit to provide what I think is otherwise a solid platform for smart, custom, colored lighting. The only other issue that stood out to me is that the bulbs would often show as dimmed all the way down in the app even though the bulbs were actually turned all the way up. So long as I kept the lights grouped I had no problem setting a consistent custom color to complement family activities in a particular room or area. And, even though these aren’t specifically designed for outdoors, I’ve got a weather protected 2-bulb fixture above our front porch that I think will serve well to spread some color to our homefront. I’ve had standard LED bulbs there for years without issue so I’m willing to risk the investment of a couple of these and hope they last there as well.

Now you can control your lights with an app
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I never thought I would find myself using a set of Smart LED Light Bulbs in my house, but ever since I installed the Element Color Plus A19 Smart LED Light Bulbs with Hub by Sengled, I simply cannot go back to traditional light bulbs. Having the ability to control my household lights with an app, set them on a schedule to turn on/off, or control them with my Google Assistant makes it extremely convenient for my family and I. Furthermore, having the ability to change the light brightness and colors of the Smart LED Light Bulbs to create a mood allows us to have a bit more fun with the lighting. Initial setup was very straightforward, the only thing that took a bit at first the setup of the Hub to connect to our home’s 2.4Ghz Wi-Fi network. But once the Hub was connected via Wi-Fi, everything else was self-explanatory. Integrating the lights with our Google Home system was also straightforward and allows us to use our Google Home to control many of the same features that can be accessed and controlled through the Sengled app. The three blubs in this kit are pre-programmed to work with this Hub, so all you have to do is setup the Hub, plug in the blubs and connect the system with your smartphone/Google Home and you’re good to go. One tip for those that use a smart device such as a Google Home / Alexa to controls these bulbs, make sure to give each blub or group of blubs a unique name so that when you turn them on or off with your assistant, the assistant can respond accordingly. Otherwise, your assistant may have trouble understanding your request and may not be able to process it.

Bulbs look good, app needs work
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These are my first colored smart bulbs, I've had many of the temperature changing smart bulbs but, was excited to see how these would look. These are much more reasonably priced than some of the other high end color smart bulbs so I was curious to see how they stacked up. The colors on the bulbs themselves look great. They are bright and vibrant. They change color quickly and turn off and on quickly. As far as the bulbs themselves go, I think they look just as good as the more expensive bulbs. The app on the other hand is a different story. I think it will get there, it's just not as full featured as some of the others. My biggest problem is that I couldn't figure out how to match the color of all three bulbs. The color slider doesn't give you an RGB value or anything like that, so you have to guess what color you used. They also work with the smarthings hub but, you have very similar problems there but, there are some workarounds that make them work well. Overall the bulbs themselves work great but, the apps need some more features and refining to make them as useful as other bulbs.
