Many appreciate the quick setup and compatibility with smart home assistants like Alexa and Google Home, enabling convenient voice control. Review for Sengled - Element Classic A19 Smart LED Light Bulbs (3-Pack) with Hub I’m new to smart bulbs but not IOT, so I was happy to have a successful first venture with these bulbs. The installation instructions are five simple steps and work well if you follow them. I saw several reviews where people said they had problems if they varied from the directions, so I was very strict in adhering to them and had good luck. That said, I don’t know what I don’t know! Since the kit came with three bulbs. I installed them as directed, but then found there was no way to know which was which in terms of assigning them names (room locations). I happened to get all three wrong and had to unname and rename them. Even so, this was easy and quick. I also found it odd that the initial setup for the hub required it to be hard wired to the router before being able to be made wireless and yet, this was simple too. Again, following the directions made this very straight forward. I went out on a limb to connect the system to my Google Home and once again, found that the instructions made it easy. Within minutes, i could adjust the three lights with voice commands from my Google Home device. Better yet, I can address them from the Google Home app when I’m away from home. This may not seem like a big deal, but I can imagine having a more connected home in the future and the idea of addressing different systems though their respective apps could get really annoying! Having one place to control everything seems a much better goal. As to the Sengled Elements app, itself, I’d give it 4 stars. It’s basically fine, but could be easier. For instance, scheduling seems so buried in the feature set, that I began to think that it wan’t possible. (It is!) This seems like an important feature for individually-addressable light bulbs; why not put it up front with on/off and brightness controls? Yet, power consumption stats are out at the main level, something you may check infrequently, if at all. I do like the graphics that show a lit room vs. a dim room for each bulb; very intuitive instead of saying “Living room on,” etc. The bulbs themselves are bright, dim well, and seem to be well designed. Time will tell!

The bulbs would not stay connected, stayed on for one hour and then lost connection. Readded the connection and it was offline by morning, returned them the next day and bought C by GE.....wayyyyyy easier to install and no hub required..save yourself some time ..

Smart lights for not a lot of money

My home is a mish mash of different smart devices -- lights and switches, all from different manufacturers -- so I was worried the Singled Element Classsic might not work. Especially since my plan was to not use the included hub (since I already have Hue system with hub) and connect them directly to an Amaon Echo Plus I already had. It has a built in hub that is SUPPOSED to work in place of the manufacturer's hub, but you know that goes. Sometimes it works. Sometimes not. My first attempt was a failure. Right of the box, the Singled bulbs already are paired to included hub. The "find new device" command on Alexa turned up nothing. So I searched around and discovered you can reset the Singled bulbs by simply turning them on and off 10 times in rapid succession. Or at least, that's how it is supposed to work. It did not. The bulbs are supposed to flash five times if reset. That never happened. So I searched some more and finally came across a video showing how to do it.Turns out the bulbs have to be ON first before you turn them OFF and then back ON 10 times in rapid succession. So, on and off, not off and on. Five flashes. Success. With that done, I ordered Alexa to search for new devices again and, much to my surprise, it found the Singled bulb after a few seconds. Voice control was now possible with no new skill or special app installed. As long as I was happy with the bulb being named "first light," which I was not. So back to the Alexa app to see what sort of customization was possible. Answer: not much. You can rename it and dim it to whatever level you wish but that's about it. Timers, scheduling and other smart functions require the use of the Singled's own app and hub, which comes with the kit Use of the app requires the usual sign up and register routine but once done, it worked fine. You can do almost anything with the Singled as the more expensive brands out there. If you are new the smart lighting scene, the Singled works as well as any other brand for less money. So its worth a look.

These bulbs do not seem to work as well as the CE with GE that I bought,I've been using them with my Google Assistant, same as with all my bulbs so I don't know if they're just not very compatible with GA or what the problem is but I'm not very fond of them and I would not purchase them again.

I had begun expanding my smart home appliances and functionality recently and this product works absolutely perfect with all my other products configured with Google Assistant. Firstly, I`ve learned that ease of setup when it comes to smart home devices is of great importance and the ease that this product was able to do that was refreshing. The ability to have one hub for all of the bulbs in my home (up to 64) is great knowing that I won`t have to spend more on more hubs or mess with a variety of other products trying to combine various features. The simplicity of the app is also great as it is bare bones and this is very welcome as it creates a simplicity that allows everything to function quickly and efficiently. The ability to control my lights when I am away and set routines is great and definitely is worth the upgrade to these smart bulbs. Overall, I am very pleased with these as they do exactly what I need that some cheaper more generic alternatives do not offer and not as expensive and complex as some other brands. For me this is a perfect happy medium and I look forward to purchasing more Element bulbs to use throughout my entire home.

This was my first experience with connected internet of things and to be honest I was a little skeptical. I was guessing the installation and connections etc will be a big hassle. But once I installed this kit, all my fears were put to rest. The installation was super easy. It was as simple as plugging in the hub to my router via ethernet cable and plug in the bulbs in to the holders. The hub was able to connect to all the bulbs without any issues. I actually hooked them up to my recessed lighting fixtures and even though the manual says that it does not support them, surprisingly it worked. I have 3 bulbs in my bedroom and earlier it was all or none but now I am able to turn on/off whichever bulb I want to and the best part is that I don't have to get out of the bed when I am ready to doze off. I can just turn all of them off from the mobile app. I highly recommend this kit.

Simple Setup, Works as Described, Some Quirks

This kit of three LED smart bulbs and hub from Sengled is pretty simple and straightforward. The system works as described, but there are a couple of minor points that could be improved upon. Setup was relatively easy, but you'll need both the Sengled app (available for iOS or Android) and an available wired/ethernet port on your router to configure the hub. It's frustrating that there's no way to configure it completely wirelessly... especially since I had to temporarily remove another device from my router to free up a port. The good news is that once it's configured, the Sengled hub will connect to your network using Wi-Fi, so I got that port back. Once the hub is configured, you'll see three bulbs already paired to it in the app. They're labeled on the screen as Bulb 1, Bulb 2, and Bulb 3. However, there's no markings in the box that actually say which bulb is which. You'll need to either read the small print device IDs on the sides of the bulbs, or use trial and error, to figure out which is which. After you figure out which bulbs are 1, 2, and 3, you'll assign them to rooms (and optionally give them more descriptive names) in the app, allowing you to turn the lights on and off or dim them by room or by bulb, either using the app or your home automation system (e.g. Amazon Alexa, Google Home). This part really does just work as advertised. I had no trouble turning lights on or off, dimming them, etc. The bulbs give off soft-white light, much less harsh than the compact fluorescent bulbs that I had in my fixtures before. They stay cool to the touch during use (except for the ceramic base, which warms up a bit). The app gives some information about power usage. I didn't find that information all that helpful, but if you're swapping out older incandescent bulbs for LEDs, you will probably see that you're using a lot less energy for the same amount of light. Finally, the Sengled bulbs use the Zigbee protocol, which many other home home automation systems support. So, if you already have a system up and running in your home, you can reset the bulbs (to un-pair them from the Sengled hub) and add them to your existing scheme. The reset sequence for Sengled bulbs is one of the easier to execute (switch on and off quickly 10 times). This also means that if you have another brand's Zigbee bulb, you can most likely add it to the Sengled hub. I had to enter the device ID from the small print on the side of the bulb to do this, however... the Sengled app didn't just find it automatically. Overall, this kit does what it advertises. Gives you three bulbs that you can turn on/off and dim remotely, on a schedule, or with your Amazon Alexa or Google Home. I'd recommend it to anyone who can can get past the minor annoyance of having to plug in with a wire to configure the hub and guessing which bulb is 1, 2, and 3 when you first install them.

This 3-Pack of Sengled Element Classic A19 bulbs really floored me. I looked online before I received them to figure out how to connect them to my SmartThings hub, and it seemed fairly easy. The new SmartThings app (vs. the Classic app) was the only one that instructed me to reset the bulb to get it to connect, which was easy... turn the bulb on, turn it off and on 10 times quickly, and it will dim 3 times to show it's in pairing mode. SmartThings picked it up a few seconds later. The first thing that struck me was that these are dimmable. The switch in the app showed a fader and I tried it out right away. They are brighter than the other warm LEDs I have in my house, which was a nice surprise, but the dimmer impressed me even more. After finding them in the Alexa app, I was easily able to control them with my Echo. The hardest part to remember is not to turn off the switch, but I'm sure that will be an easy hurdle.

I've been skeptical about the home automation thing for a while. I didn't think voice commands for lights, outlets, etc. would be worth it. Having this simple smart bulb package has completely changed my mind. The install was a breeze. Just download the Sengled app on your phone, plug the hub into your router and you're good to go. Controlling the lights with the app is easy and I love the dimming feature. I have also set up these lights to work with my Google Home and it's easy to turn on/off all lights or one light at a time with voice commands since I was easily able to give each light a nickname in the Home app. I'd recommend this to anyone who's interested in getting started with home automation and wants lights that you can turn on/off using different methods. Light scheduling is even available in the Sengled app of you want them to come on and turn off at the same time every day.
