    Wanted to love them

I really wanted to love these headphones, but... The good Just like other Sennheiser audio products, these sound spectacular. The highs are crisp, the lows deep, and the sound is well balanced. The quality of the sound is really top notch. The ear cups are comfortable and I can wear them for long periods without discomfort or my ears getting hot What can be improved First off, they are not very attractive. I know that should not be important, but they do look like they belong on Gigantor or another robot from years past The included manual is rudimentary at best. Every language imaginable but no real instructions This is important since there is a button or toggle for everything. No multi function button or proximity sensors to make things easier Sennheiser tried to make that easier by applying an ugly instruction sticker that lasted all of 10 seconds before I tore it off. Really seems like an afterthought The “3” stars is because of the Bluetooth lag. This was common a few years back, but all other brands found ways around this. I bought these to watch movies on my Mac, and I am struggling to keep interest Lastly, I also want to use these for long flights (on an iPad) and the battery can not be swapped out with a fresh one leaving me to keep them plugged in during the overseas portion of my flights. For $399, I guess I just expected more

Best wireless sound on a overear headset

Hi, I’ll try to keep it simple and easy. First,if you buy Sennheiser, you buy it for the SOUND. That is the dominant quality you’re looking for and in that department and Sennheiser delivers as always. People talk about anc, battery life, connections with multiple devices etc. Is it good to have all of that? Of course it is,but, not if it affects the sound quality. I don’t care about charging them every other day,I don’t care the call quality is not Sony level etc. All I care is that I can immerse myself in the SOUND everytime I use them. Battery last as specs ,17 hrs( I use them full 8hrs at work) , so far I got them connected on 3 devices and it switches automatically (phone,iPad and tv) just have to turn Bluetooth off if all devices are in the same room. ANC and calls quality has improved ,still not Sony or AirPods level. Material quality is top level and if you take care of them it will last many years. One minor problem or better said inconvenience. I don’t know if it applies to all of Momentum 3 but my left cup slider is kind of loose and it makes it uneven,as I move a lot at work is inconvenient, but found a easy fix. Home Depot,#11 rubber rings applied on the outside does the magic. Another weird thing ,I can’t charge them with my iPad cord but I can charge my iPad with the Sennheiser cord,so I use that one instead now(longer and better quality) Overall is worth it every penny.

    Great sounding well made headphones

To start with here are my priorities for a new set of cans: 1 Sonic quality 2 Durability 3 On Sale I've been listening to AT-M50 and JBL E65BTNC headphones for years. The ATs are excellent for front of house engineers as they are efficient and full range. They have held up well. The JBLs on the other hand sound good but are falling apart. Hence I purchased Sennheiser Momentum headphones to replace the JBLs. My thought was stainless steel and genuine stitched lamb's skin will last longer than plastic and glued imitation leather. The bonus is Momentums sound better than either of the other two headphones understanding that I am looking for sonic accuracy. The bass is very articulate not mushy, the midrange is superbly smooth and highs sparkle without being harsh. As an audio engineer I'm rather critical. I use a lot of Sennheiser gear on stage. Momentum headphones fit the Sennheiser philosophy of making solid, good performing products that hold up on the road. Some people want over the top low end. If that is your thing these are not the headphones (or droids) you are looking for. Some reviewers complain about Momentum's battery life. How often do you charge your phone, laptop and all your other gadgets? You won't need to charge Momentums any more often than the rest of your wireless gear. A good multiport USB charger is a must in today's world. I've found Anker USB power ports to be very good and you can find them at Best Buy. Momentum's noise cancelling is not as good as Bose or Sony. However I turned up a radio tuned to a talk show while listening to music with headphones. The blaring radio was adequately cancelled by Momentums. Momentums are light and comfortable. They clamp securely over your ears without being too tight affording hours of comfortable listening. The build quality is up to Sennheiser standards, again they are made with stainless steel and genuine leather stitched together instead of being glued which invariably fails. After some hours of listening I am falling in love with Momentums. I listened to classic rock, country, classical, musical theater and pop. I have a magnificent recording of Moonlight Sonata. With Momentums I felt like I was sitting on the piano bench. The 1812 Overture is a true test of any speaker system. It's very dynamic culminating in cannon fire which normally shows the inability of speakers to handle such dynamic range, but Momentums handle it with ease providing authentic reproduction from the most delicate passage to maximum level impulse response without distortion. To say I'm impressed is an understatement. Sennheiser set the bar very high with Momentum Bluetooth headphones. Time will tell but I anticipate listening to Sennheiser Momentums for a good long time while enjoying every minute.

I cant believe I am giving a Sennheiser product a bad review, but here we are. I am a long time Sennheiser fan, but they missed the mark with these IMO. My hat size is 7 3/8, which I dont think is overly large or small. I had fit issues with these from the get go. No matter what I did, they never felt secure on my head, and my right ear would always touch the inside of the headphone a tiny bit. That in it of itself would be no big deal, but... These have a "feature" where when you remove your headphones, they pause, and when you close them, they turn off on. Sounds great in theory, but in practice, it was maddening. The pressure sensor is located in the right ear piece. Even shifting it slightly (kept doing this because of the above issue), it will either pause your music playback, or if you are on a call, it will put it on hold (not mute, Hold). Even something as simple as a quick head turn (no, I was not going all Waynes World and headbanging to queen), was enough to cause the music to pause or hold a call. I honestly thought I had a bad bluetooth connection until I figured out what was going on. I also had an experience where I was driving my car, phone playing on my car radio via Bluetooth, and I came to a stop. The headphones were on my front passenger seat, and they rolled forward and opened slightly. That was enough for my phone to try and switch from my radio to my car. I had to pull over to figure out what the heck happened. Just sitting still, I will say the sound quality is excellent, exactly what you would expect from Sennheiser. I really like the retro look, and was initially also excited that these maintained traditional buttons instead of hand gestures. The app seemed to work, but the EQ was a little weird. ANC was good, but not as good as the bose. Ultimately, I returned these and got the Bose 700s. They fit better, have a longer battery life, better ANC, and I surprisingly loved the touch control. I will concede that they dont sound quite as good as these, but truthfully, you are splitting hairs at that point.

These headphones were extremely easy to setup and pair with my computer and iPhone. I was also able to setup the Tile pairing rather easily. Following setup, everything worked great and the sound was fantastic. The battery life is also as advertised and these are just a great set of wireless headphones!

    Fantastic sound profile

OK lets get into it. Sound is phenomenal on these headphones second to none from 250 - $800. I tested out the new B&O over the ear headphones with the rotating earcup in their store. Doesn't cut it at all in the sound department, was greatly disappointed. (Especially with their asking price, maybe it's for the metal lunchbox case with no handle that cases those headphones, who knows. It's not the sound.) Soundstage on the Momentum 3s is great and if you listen to music a lot and want to hear it as it should sound, these are for you. Treble, Midrange, Bass and separation is on point for any genre of music on the Momentums. Sound quality is the main reason you look at Sennheiser products, their sound profile is truly heavenly for the Momentum lineup. Build is great. Metal band, retro look. No corners cut there. I don't find them to be heavy. I have the black ones though the sandy ones look tempting. The case however is lacking durability and doesn't protect the awesome utility inside. No excuse for the case provided with these headphones. So im careful with their placement in a bag. Noise cancelling is not the North Star here, more like a wandering star. If your noise cancelling is on and you're music is off while using these you will notice more of the passive noise cancelling than anything else. The volume on these headphones do get loud however and work good that way with the noise cancelling. Sixty five percent volume and noise cancelling should isolate outside sounds. (Depending on your volume set up on your phone) For example on android phones you have volume booster apps that can make the volume significantly higher than recommended by the manufacturer of your phone, and health recommendations lol. I do wish sennheiser improved in the noise cancelling department with the momentum earbuds as well. For comparisons sake I had the Sony 1000xm3 over the ear headphones and earbuds, but now have the QC earbuds and the 700 over the ear in Sony's place. Both those products have great noise cancelling though Bose tops it out from my diligent tests and research. The app (smart control) depends on your taste and your phone setup. I really like the app and it's eq. They also make significant improvements to the frequencies on the eq on some of their updates. I have an android and use music players that cater to audiophiles that have very effective equalizers. It makes a great combo for sound enthusiasts. The mic is good as well. People can hear me but for comparisons sake the bose 700 is superior in that department. The mic hear does sound better than the Sonys though, by a longshot. The battery on the momentums however could use a boost. Overall, the sound profile is excellent. Even with the Cons mentioned these headphones are definitely for music lovers. If you're looking for noise cancelling headphones you might want to look elsewhere. There is no excuse for the case though Sennheiser that's cutting corners for sure. Nonetheless I would recommend this to music lovers because of the very beautiful and elegant sound profile (it's very beautiful sounding folks) and would expect Sennheiser to improve on their overall package, like other reviewers have mentioned.

These headphones provide some of the highest quality audio I’ve ever heard. They’re far superior to Beats and a big step up from any other Bluetooth headset I’ve used. I’m using them for gaming and music and love the crisp sound quality and deep bass notes. The noise cancelling features work amazingly well and really help to tune out background noise and isolate what you’re listening to. I started to get a headache after about an hour of use so I’m still fine tuning the fit. The leather cups and headband will likely soften up as I use them as well. I’m glad that it also includes an audio jack for wired listening. The storage case is well-made and attractive.

The Bose and Sony are both great and all but I got these and have never been more satisfied with a pair of headphones. The bass is almost like a subwoofer that shakes your head but if you don’t like that then you can adjust it in the app. They are however a lot heavier than Bose or Sony but honestly very comfortable and way better build quality then the other options.

    Momentums Have Incredible Bass

I bought these a month or so and they are one of the best sets of headphones I have ever owned. I've tried several sets of headphones in the past starting with Beats Studios to the Sonys WH1000XM3 and 4 and the Bose 700's. Each have their +'s -'s. However, with each set of headphones I tried out I felt they lacked what I enjoyed most out of my music...the BASS! These headphones are incredible when it comes to bass. They have a very deep bass, to the point; that on some of the tracks I've listened to, my head shakes. The quality is also very nice, they look different than any of the other headphones on the market and are very comfortable and the ear cups don't heat up your ears, when wearing them for a long time. If your someone who enjoys a rich deep bass, like myself...then these are the headphones for you!

Great sounding wireless headphones, with a catch.

Purchased the Momentum 3 about 2 years ago, as my go-to wireless headphones. I also have a Sennheiser HD58X and 599SE at home. Build quality is top notch. The product feels very premium, with the leather earcups and headband. It feels like it will last for a long time. Battery life is poor, with just 13 hours. It will be less if used with Sennheiser's high end sound tuning. ANC is decent, but not as good as Sony or Bose's best offerings. I have not experienced it, but there is definitely some software bugs with these headphones. The main reason I got these was for the sound. For me, these are comparable to the Sennheiser HD58X Jubilees, which some people compare to the Sennheiser HD660s, which are very well regarded $500 headphones purely for sound. The headphones are U shaped, so there is a lot of bass at first, but when I used the high end sound tuning, everything is just so much detailed. The bass is very pleasant, but it doesn't make the headphones sound muddy. The soundstage is not very narrow for a closed back set of headphones. When used via the USB-C cable, there's an exceptional level of detail. If you want a wireless set of cans that focus purely for sound, these are probably it. Otherwise, I would look at the Sony XM4. The Sony do not sound even remotely as good as these, but for everything else, I think the Sonys are better.

    Otherworldly Sound. Dark Secret

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

~Sound 9/10 What can I say? Golden. Recreates all sorts of stuff in an organic, never tinny way. ~The design 5/10 yes, it's retro but it looks somewhat unappealing and bulky for little reason. now it likes sliding down a bit on my head and not staying firm in its set position as well. for the $$$, wish it was a bit tighter. ~Comfort 7/10 Plushy and pretty good. Puts some pressure on my ears that feels mostly cozy. Starts getting uncomfy after 2 hours of use. ~Gimmicks 1/10 Yep. This is it. Imagine adding some fun new tech to your device and it nuking its basic functionality. The ANC is fine and the background noise is very pleasant, like it's recreating the sound of floating itself. Folding the headphones and them turning off? Awesome. Everything else? Unholily ridiculous. At first I accepted it because I'm normally patient. But after months of use I've come to realize for a 250$ pair of headphones it's unacceptable. The Evil On/Off Issue So...these headphones pause whatever you're listening to with you take them off. In theory. For me, they have mostly turned off when I was still wearing them--even when I'm sure I didn't move at all, they like pausing randomly. It's extremely hard to actually do anything with these headphones. BLUETOOTH ISSUES Regularly, I have to disconnect or remove my headphones from my laptop because they no longer play sound. There is a good chance I have to do something to get these headphones working right each time I try using them. The auto-connect when you put them on is sometimes good though. I have never had this issue for my 40$ pair of over-ear bluetooths. Not even my 20$ pair or earbuds. Their bluetooth connection has worked as intended always. Isn't that ridiculous? I've had 100s of failures for these but never for cheaper pairs. All in all, I don't know if the way I use them as bugged up the software or something, or I damaged them somehow, but either ways I don't like how many features on this just come across as being in beta and very janky.

Very rich and crisp sound reproduction, excellent noise cancelling. High quality materials and craftsmanship. The accompanying app is easy to use and understand. To achieve the best sound suited to your taste, you need to use the graphic equalizer features preset categories or even use the custom setting, which I prefer the most. Both Bose and Sony make great headphones, but the price you pay for them is partially their brand name. You will not go wrong with these Sennheiser headphones.

I really wanted to love these headphones. I read reviews for days and consistently heard these were the best sounding headphones ever! I consider myself somewhat of an audiophile, I enjoy listening to music on my Yamaha RX-V481 amp pushing Polk Audio S60 Tower speakers, not a top of the line set up, but great sounding HiFi! When purchasing headphones I wanted to get as close to this sound as I could in a portable package. I expected to be blown away by these considering the price tag and the reviews I read. Unfortunately as soon as I played my first Rolling Stones song through them I was disappointed. I thought to myself, maybe it's the inferior bluetooth connection, so I connected them to my MacBook pro. Sound was much better, and yet I thought do these really sound that much better than my HyperX Cloud Stinger gaming headset. With this in mind I decided to listen to the same song at max volume on both. To me the difference was negligible, so I asked my wife to listen, she came to the same conclusion. Do these sound better than my gaming headset? They do, they are more clear, but not by much. Do they sound $400 better than my $60 gaming headset? No... Unfortunately I will be returning these, perhaps my expectations were too high, or perhaps headphones have too much hype.

This headphones beat Beats Studio 3 many times over!! It is a piece of art and perfection!!!! The reason why I gave it a 4 stars is because of the sheep skin.. I want vegan leather.. You hear so so so so many details!!! Connectivity is great, functionality is great, design is cute! The buttons are incredibly quality and cute. It’s just perfect! I would give it a 10 stars if it was made of light pinkish and white vegan leather (: I got the light color one (: Man this is perfect and also to mention I am insanely and extremely picky and I am also an audiophile.. :D :D :D

First of all, I tested these headphones out for a about a week before returning. The issue is the audio. Yes, the audio is amazing. The bass, treble, and mids are great. However, you will experience a crackle in your headphones. Only when the artist you are listening to hits high notes and/or music gets loud/complicated. It was extremely annoying and I couldn’t enjoy my music without it making me go insane. The construction of these is amazing. I loved the genuine leather and aluminum siding. Though looks are only 25% of headphones. If I were you, steer away from these. No matter how much you play with these with the EQ, you’ll always get that crackle. Not worth it for that much money. Trust me, you’ll return these if you buy them. I wanted to love them so much but I couldn’t bring myself to hear the crackle 24/7.

Great item. Music quality is all around amazing. I was heartbroken to let these go but I’m giving it 3starts is bc it has this feature. If you remove the headphones, the music pauses. But if you eat while you have them on, everytime your jaw moves, the music stops. It’s incredibly aggravating. Also the cable charger is an inconvenience. It’s a usb-c on both ends and comes with an adapter that constantly falls off. I had to buy an extra charger.
