I have a parrot and things can be dusty. Though I was skeptical about it, I've kept this on "auto" and by golly it does turn on when the heat or air comes on through the floor ducts, or the bird "fluffs", or sometimes even if the doors are open. I use several Shark products so I was comfortable purchasing this.

Like that it has 3 air flow levels and lights can be turned off. Only wish it could be programmed to run at different levels at different times.

It is a bit loud when it's working hard (I keep it in auto mode) but it's white noise that's easy to ignore. After the first night it spent running on high, it's been very quiet and keeping the indoor air clean. I wake up feeling much better these days, so it's doing what I needed it for: removing allergens.
