I used the Apex today. I clean houses for a living, and I was working today, when the vacuum wasn't doing its job. The "DUO" Rollers weren't rolling. The indic. Light was green, the headlights flashing. I did the troublesh. Solutions: ck for debris, clogged airways, anything wrapped around rollers, emptied canister, ck filters, took roller off, looked inside anywhere i cud, put the coverplate back on. Did this 6 times. It work for maybe a minute or 2, then rollers wud stop again. I was very annoyed. I was at a clients house, wasted alot of valuable time messin with it. I need a reliable vacuum. Matter of fact, I was just looking for the receipt, so I cud return it. I hope its not top late. I was gonna go to Bestbuy tomorrow afternnoon, fri, aug.2nd. Very unhappy.

As good as a vacuum gets

I refuse in most cases to read instructions, the Shark passed the test out of the box assembly was no problem, everything fit intuitively. Build quality is also good, I wasn’t able to break anything by not reading the directions. After 2 weeks of use no malfunctions or quirks. At just over 16lbs it is not feather light but once you separate the cannister it is plenty light enough to do what a 2-in1 vacuum does best. Getting to anything over my head (I’m 6’) does require some strength but this would be true with any vacuum style. The articulating dusting tool is a great idea and makes those tough angles a bit easier. Likewise, the motorized pet tool works great on stairs and upholstery. I really like the lights, funny but lights are one of those things that seemed to have disappeared over the years and we just got used to it. This unit brings back the lights and it really does make a big difference, now I can see there is no dirt left behind. The other very nice addition to this Shark is the 30’ chord, again one of those things we forgot about but a great feature. There are three power levels you can choose from bare floor, low pile, thick pile, these adjust brush speed and suction. The Zero-M technology isn’t just a gimmick, it really does prevent hair from wrapping around the roller brush. We have this one rug that forever has me cutting stuff off the brush, I won that war. Maneuverability is a decent thanks the Active Glide technology, neither my wife nor I have a problem. That said you have to put some effort into it but the roller brushes help on the forward motion, on the return it takes some effort but you also have to consider the cleaning power you are getting. This is not your grandma’s cannister vacuum. Speaking of suction, this thing won that war. The only complaint I have, which is an odd one to have about a vacuum, is the suction. No more vacuuming small throw rugs unless you have someone to stand on the outer edges. However, if you do have some help it will be the cleanest throw rug you have ever had. I have tinkered with adjusting the power, opening the vent to reduce suction and had pretty good luck on my own. One other minor area of concern is tool storage, not enough room on-board to store all the tools. Everything comes apart easily, including accessing the roller. The dust bin isn’t as large as a bag vacuum an does need to be emptied regularly, luckily it is very easy to do so. The power button took some time to get used to, not highly tactile but after a couple of uses I’m over it. Filter access is also easy and I like he option of a filter you can wash. My experience tells me however replacement is always a better option after some time. All things considered this is a great vacuum, even in comparison to other bag-less 2-in-1 options out there.

Have had the vacuum six months and it has worked beautifully. We use it once a week and have very little carpet but do have dogs. Vacuum started making a loud noise when the rollers were engaged. Called Shark as there is a 5 year warranty. The entire foot of the vacuum needs replaced and is considered normal wear and tear. Initial price was $100 and I was ticked, they finally came down to $50. I cannot believe this is not covered under warranty, the vacuum looks like brand new and not used hard.

vacuum does great for all floor surfaces. Real easy to clean filter. The tools option works great. Extra long power cord allows for cleaning of 2 rooms without changing to a different outlet.

    POWERFUL!

Backstory: I have owned a Dyson since 2014 and have loved it since day one. I had heard good things about Shark, but never tried one before. Therefore, a lot of my comparisons will be of the Dyson versus the Shark. Received the Shark vacuum and it was quite easy to put together with the instructions. Once put together, I lifted the Shark off the floor and realized it felt just a slight heavier than the Dyson. Not a dealbreaker; just an observation. Fired up the Shark! First thing I noticed almost immediately…it appeared the Shark was pulling the carpet as the bristles went over it. Second observation: it appeared that the “carpet tracks” were more pronounced than any vacuum I had ever seen (including when I used to sell Kirby vacuums back in the late 90s). Now, does this mean it’s cleaning “better” than the Dyson? Who knows at this point and time. I can confirm the Shark is powerful and appears to have great suction. Whoever made the decision to make the power cord longer deserves a pay raise. Something that could be considered unimportant in regards to the vacuum cleaning does indeed makes a huge difference. I’m always yanking the Dyson cord out of the plug and I haven’t come close to doing this with the Shark. I only have two cons with the Shark and I’m nitpicking. 1) I’ve been spoiled with either pressing a release with my foot or applying pressure on the Dyson to make the vacuums connect to the floor when it’s locked into position. For the Shark, you actually have to put your foot on the designated place on the roller to have it connect to the floor….first world problem, I know. 2) Turning the Shark on the carpet does have a different feel than turning the Dyson. Not a dealbreaker. I’ll get use to it. The Shark is put together well and you won’t be disappointed.

Definitely one of the better vacuums I've used. Very smooth movement and easy to manipulate. My one complaint is I wish it stored more but it does a pretty good job cleaning up after my very fluffy dog.
