Great at the start but went down hill
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What can I say it work great for about a month avg 2 times a week. Then it started just falling apart. The brush roll is a nightmare to clean and you have to alot or it will start bogging down. Then the thing just started falling apart. The company want me to leave 5 star rating to get my warranty replacement . Best buy was great and took it back. I'd skip shark nothing but garbage

Apex is a must have very close to Dyson modes.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This SHARK product was amazing. It had good versatility and suction power for the duration of our use in a 2400 sqft home. The only downside after a few years of owner ship was the handle interconnection wore out so during use it would switch from floor suction to hand-held suction; granted this was after three years of ownership. Definitely a great product…

Returned it
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Did not pick up much more than a fluff of dog hair...the hair got stuck on the bottom and inhibited suctioning of dirt. I got it because I liked the way it opened on the top and bottom in order to clean out the bucket holding the dirt and that you could remove it in order to clean stairs and under the couch, but it just did not perform well. Very disappointed.

Not as easy to use as discribed
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The brush attachment is directly over the electrical wire so you have to remove the brush in order to wind up the electrical line. The balance of the device is awkward. Turning the device is difficult at times as the motor is high so it is off balance. But it works it cleans well and is good for stairs and high areas that need to be vacuumed

Great All Around Vacuum, Almost no complaints
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The AZ1002 is the latest iteration on the Shark APEX DuoClean line of vacuums. DuoClean - as it is designed for both carpet and hard floors. APEX, because presumably, this is the top Shark vacuum line. Here, the product does deliver on the promise given by its name. The vacuum is about 15lbs though feels a bit heavier than some competitors. This is due to it being an "upright" so one moves the entire weight of the vacuum plus suction when cleaning. In fact, I think it's the suction that in a strange manner, both helps and hurts. Suction is amazing. I feel confident this vacuum will pick up anything in it's path. However, it also makes it sticky, suction keeps it glued to the floor or carpet. The vacuum does have a switch that lets you change from floor, high pile carpet/rug and regular/low pile. This helps with manoeverability though once again, this comes with some caveats. One feature, to help lessen the weight is the ability to lift away the main body of the vacuum and just move the normal floor attachment. Normally, you'd hold the main vacuum body in your hand though you could put it down. Either way, the amount of weight you're moving is drastically reduced. Which is a plus given the suction until you get to carpet. See, while the switch for carpet reduces suction, it increases brush speed. So you end up with the vacuum pulling itself along in which case, the extra weight of the main body ends up being useful. This comes with the usual Shark APEX accessories including the under appliance wand. I feel like that's one of those vacuum attachments that everyone wants but never really remembers when shopping to see if its availble for a given model. After all, while the main attachment is pretty good and the vacuum has great suction power, one still can't clean what one cannot reach.

Rollers stopped working after less than 2 yrs
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Originally I would have given this close to 5 stars. But we have had it less than 2 years and the brush rollers have stopped turning. It’s like it stuck on floor mode. Apparently this is an issue with these vacuums. Tried looking up different ways to fix , but nothing has worked. It no longer cleans carpets well and most of our house has carpet. It was a waste of over $300. I will never by a shark again , our last dyson lasted almost 10 yrs.

Awesome
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The first thing I said to my wife about this vacuum as, "This vacuum is awesome." I was very impressed from the beginning. It required some assembly, which I wasn't expecting. The directions were clear and it was easy. First things first, it's a vacuum so does it vacuum well? Yes. it's made to be used on 3 floor types: Base, Carpet and Area Rug/High Carpet. It vacuumed well on each surface and left nothing behind. So from that perspective, it's worth the money for how well it does. The small design elements are what prompted me to say that it's awesome. First, the power button is right on the handle where you naturally put your hand. Then, the button to switch between the 3 flooring types is right there also. I never stop vacuuming to switch. It's a little thing, but a well thought out one that saves you time. It turns with a twist of your wrist, saving me some back and forth. The cord is also long enough that I could plug it one room and vacuum that one and the two across the hall. The attachments all connect easily and also vacuum well. Honestly, I'm very happy with this vacuum. It's light, it works well and is easy to use. I highly recommend it.

Too Powerful & Complicated for Simple Vacuum needs
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My star rating is a bit unfair as the Shark vacuum cleaner is a very good product. However, it is far too powerful and complicated for my needs. My vacuuming needs are for an apartment with short pile carpet. There are no stairs, no draperies, no real need to detach the canister to, say walk up stairs. If I had been smart enough to keep the box and packaging, I would have returned it to Best Buy and purchased a simpler model that would much better suit my needs. If anyone is looking for a brand new Shark that has been used only once, I would happily sell it at significant reduction from original price - along with sales receipt.

Not good if you use a lot
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I chosed Shark Apex after exchanging 5 times another Shark Duo Clean because they suddenly stopped to work. This is the second Shark Apex that I have to return (I purchased that on September 25th, a out a month ago) (Total of 7 Shark Vacuums). It has too many electric components for different features. One single malfunction related to one of the attachments and your vaccum will not work anymore. PS: I regularly cleaned these vaccums to remove the excess of dust. It didn’t help to keep them working for too long. At the end of the day, choose one of those old style vaccums. They work for years and require less maintenance

The Best!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I simply can not say enough about the Shark APEX DuoClean Powered Lift-Away AZ1002. This is easily the best vacuum we have ever owned. To begin, it is crazy simple to put together. Open the box and snap the dust bin and handle into place (no tools needed) and you are up and running. The build quality is fantastic. It doesn't feel cheap at all. The standard accessories are all included. I really like the controls. The power button is right at your thumb. As is the three way control for carpet level adjustment. Everything is just so logically placed. Can't say that about some other vacuums. As for how well it works, well, it is simple outstanding! It glides along effortlessly and twist & turns easily into even the tightest spots. And best of all, it gets all the dirt (and pet hair!) on the first pass. Can't speak highly enough about this seeing as we have a dog & cat who never seem to stop shedding! I honestly can't find any faults with this vacuum. I have a feeling this will last a very long time.

Love It..
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am a Dyson Ball user and fan. I own a SHARK wand for quick clean-ups and I'm quite pleased with it. But, the times they are a changing. I have recently installed engineered vinyl plank (EVP) flooring, and neither of my older (2 YEARS OLD, oi) would do for my new flooring. Along comes SHARK with a unit designed for these changing times! And let me tell you, SHARKNAD0 does it right. The AZ1002 is well built and boasts a 5 year manufacturers warranty. It's pretty light weight and has the suction of my now retired Dyson Ball, comes with attachments to get dirt, or in my place, doggie fur wherever it's hiding. It's detachable for easier handling and turns on a dime. You may have seen a SHARK commercial where SHARK boasts that the AZ1002 will leave a sheen on your hard surfaces. It does, atleast on my flooring. Whether you have hard surfaces (EVP, LVP, laminate, bamboo, tile, hard woods) or a combo including carpeting this lightweight SHARKNAD0 can handle it all. Well worth the price.

Best vacuum when it works

Heavy
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’m not happy with this vacuum, it seems heavy and the self propel cleaning head isn’t like the last model I had. It seems new functions make the machine less functional. Very disappointed in this shark. I would deal with cleaning the hair from the roller for self propel and lighter. It is clumsy going up a flight of stairs. I was showing it to my mother and she couldn’t handle it. Pushing the vacuum hurt her more than her cheap vacuum. Very, very disappointed!

Great vacuum but a little hard to maneuver
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I will preface this review by saying that I am a fan of Shark vacuum cleaners. I bought my first one about 3 years ago and I really like it. It seems to do a good job on our carpets even though we had to have our carpets cleaned a few months ago after living in our house for about 3 years. This Shark vacuum is very similar to the one I previously had. So much so that I didn't even need to use the manual for how to put the vacuum together. But assembling the vacuum is a very simple process. You just have to connect the canister to the base and then a couple of hoses. It only takes a couple of minutes. But how does it clean? Well after using it to vacuum my living room I thought that the floor actually felt a little cleaner than what I was used to with the older Shark. I wasn't sure if this was just placebo but my wife commented that she thought the floor felt better as well. The vacuum is a little harder to maneuver than my previous Shark, (probably due to the roller on the front of the vacuum). But it isn't too difficult. I'm sure the Duo roller makes this vacuum great for cleaning kitchen or hardwood floors but I mainly use it for carpets. I did try vacuuming some of the laminate flooring that we have downstairs but again I thought that maneuvering the vacuum made it a bit problematic. I don't think I will use this machine for anything other than carpets. One of the great things about these Shark vacuums is that the base can be separated from the canister. This allows you to vacuum under furniture like beds and dressers. The vacuum is also pretty light so taking it up and down stairs is not difficult. I will say that I am not very happy with the attachments that come with the vacuum. My previous Shark has a small brush roller attachment that I use to vacuum the stairs in my house. This Shark has a similar tool that is designated as a pet hair tool. This one is not good at vacuuming stairs at all. I tried using the roller attachment from my other Shark and it worked with the new one. So I think I will actually use the attachments that came with the old Shark instead of the ones that came with this one. Overall I think this is a great vacuum. If you have combination hardwood, vinyl, tile and carpet floors, this one can do it all.
