Better than most but not the champ
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So I’ll start with the positives. The wand is great! It separates in two places to make getting into hard to reach areas even easier. The dust bin is large and empties all the way clean (without having to be blown out ) the vacuum is light and easy to maneuver. The cord is very long and reaches 50% of my home. That in mind there is a cord... at first I thought ok maybe it cleans better, has more power etc. Alas the brush head needs some work and I find myself rolling over the same spots multiple times. Overall a solid vac , but not the best

Great Vacuum
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love shark vacuums I think they work better than the big name brands that cost 3 times the amount. This vacuum works so well, I love the fact that it is easy to move around and get to hard places with it and it is so easy to detach and use with the tools. It is also very easy to clean parts snap right off with the press of a button. overall this vacuum is very customer friendly but also works very well. I highly recommend it if your in the market for a new vacuum.

EXCELLENT VACUUM
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I typically like to remain balanced in my reviews and point out all positivies and negatives I can think of. However, this vacuum makes that a near impossible task, it is practically perfect! PROS: - Excellent suction/ cleaning: Perhaps due in part to the Zero M roller system and overall superior build quality, this thing just flat out SUCKS (dad joke). But seriously the clean you get from this vacuum is second to none. - Features/ easy of use: Between the easy floor-cleaning mode selection, the LEDs, the powered lift away, and all of the attachments (epspecially the motorized pet tool) this vacuum will tackle any cleaning job you have with ease. Con: The only thing I can strecth into a "con" is the canister itself. It is small so it requires frequent emptying and also made of clear plastic so it looks "dirty" very quickly. I can not reccomend this vacuum enough for anyone in the market for a new corded vacuum.

Lots of great features
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I needed a new upright, corded vac, to replace the one I have, because the on/off switch doesn’t work correctly. Also just didn’t feel like dealing with another battery powered device. This Shark model weighs less and fits better in storage, as dimensions are smaller. Did a good job with my one bedroom condo carpets . Swivel head like the Dyson is new to me and might take a little bit of time getting used to. I was able to get under all my furniture Filter is cleaned by rinsing it with tap water or with a garden hose. Hope I only have to do this every 5-6x I use the vac. The only other thing I would use it for, other than flooring, is to vacuum my car. This vac is a very good, versatile tool and hope to get many years of use from it. Nice to it comes with a seven year warranty.

Love Love this vacuum
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Returned 2 hoover vacuums within 3 weeks. Bought this yesterday. The suction is awesome. Works great on my hardwood floors , area rugs and my thick carpets. I used it yesterday after purchase and again today. I am still pulling out stuff from my carpets. I have 3 dogs, so it's mostly dog hair embedded in the carpet. It only took 5 minutes to assemble. Easy, peezy. The only drawback is it can be heavy to swivel around furniture, but that might loosen up in time. The drawback is not enough to return this product.

Shark has done it again.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This vacuum is awesome. It has great powerful suction, a ton of different settings from deep clean to bare floor, very sleek looking and the lift away feature and all the tools are great. I'm so happy with this vacuum. Definitely a must own.

Effective, high quality, several shortcomings
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Shark Apex Powered Lift-Away Duo Clean (three registered names stuffed into that mouthful) has an interesting mix of positive and negative attributes that make it a good fit for some, while a poor fit for others. The materials used and construction quality make this feel like a very solid product, unlike many competing products that use thin, flimsy plastic that make them feel like cheap children’s toys. Unfortunately, it’s so solid as to be surprisingly heavy, making it’s usage feel like a mild workout. The elderly and/or frail might be better served by a lighter vacuum cleaner. This unit has great suction, and the rollers seem very effective. It pulled up dry leaves from my garage floor without experiencing clogging, which can’t be said of some lesser-powered bagless vacuum cleaners I’ve tried. A family member testing the unit accidentally sucked up a sizeable cat toy, which was deposited into a large/heavy object trap in the dust cup, allowing for easy (and relatively clean) retrieval. Unfortunately, immediately upon first contact with the middle of a hallway runner rug, the rollers began stripping its pile threading, pulling out about 10 feet worth before I turned the unit off. Not wanting to inflict further damage on my rugs, I avoided them for the rest of my testing. I used what I think was the correct setting (medium pile), so I’m not sure if this was a fluke, or if this unit doesn’t work well with the kind of rugs I have, or rugs in general. I’ve never had this type of issue with the five other vacuum cleaners I’ve used on these rugs (and around the rest of the house). Common manipulations such as detaching and reattaching the various components, emptying the dust cup, etc. were smooth and easy. I found using the pet roller attachment to be awkward to use, as it was highly resistant to forward movement (with backward movement being much easier). Very little dust collected on the filters, which means greatly reduced time cleaning them compared to those found in some competing bagless vacuum cleaners where the dust cakes on requiring cleaning the filter(s) after every use. The lift-away pod unfortunately only has room to store two of the four included attachment accessories. Perhaps even more unfortunate is that the orientation of the lift-away pod’s handle results in the exhaust vent directly facing the user; I had plenty of hot air blown on me while holding it.

Cleans well, but lousy design.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We just got it so I cannot speak to longevity, only operation. Yes, it cleans very well, but did the engineers ever use this? The first thing I noticed is that not only is it IMPOSSIBLE to store the motorized brush where it says to, even the smaller fabric tool, which will fit there, interferes with winding and unwinding the cord. You'll need to store 2 of the 3 included tools in your closet. Not very handy. The next thing I realized is that unlike our old bagged upright, this, with the lift-off motor attached can't go under much of anything...so plan on lifting it off more than you'd need to with a better design. The third thing I noticed is how heavy it is to use. I felt my arm getting tired after one room. I never felt anything with our older vacuums. If you remove the lift-off motor, it makes it immensely lighter and quite comfortable to use,but then you need to carry the motor in your other hand, leaving you without a hand to move things like chairs or toys.... And the hose between them isn't long, so you can't treat it like a canister vac (plus there are no wheels on the lift-off part anyway). I'm debating about trying to return it and getting an old-school upright or a true canister. This Shark provides a little benefit of both, but with drawbacks that more than offset the benefits. But it does clean the floors well.

Sucks Better than a crack hoe
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve owned plenty of expensive vacuums but this thing is impressive. I just wanted a canister vacuum but the price of this and the versatility got me to try it. Now I’m hooked. Impressive suction, ease of use, versatility, it’s almost fun to use. Ok it’s fun. They even have headlights. I use it for every floor, dusting, cobwebs.

Amazing
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Recieved as a present. Since I own a Dyson v10 I was in no hurry to use the shark apex. Decided to put it together one day without the instructions and it was pretty intuitive to put together. Then I started using it and I immediately knew this was the best vacuum I have ever used. With all of the extensions and tools I was able to get behind the couch and entertainment center without moving them. Needless to say I vacuumed the whole house (carpet, hardwood, and rugs) in one sitting. Which is not usual for me as my wife usually vaccums. It was very satisfying to see how clean the shark has made everything. The only question I have left is What am I going to do with my Dyson v10?

Great vacuum
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I just vacuumed with my old Dyson then I bought this because I have wood floors and little kids so I need something that can pickup cheerios and whatever else they drop. On wood floors this is world's above the Dyson. My Dyson just pushes the larger pieces around on wood this sucks it right up. I can get all the way under the couch which is awesome. On carpet this got everything the Dyson missed, almost I full bin after I just vacuumed! My carpets feel new again So far I love this vacuum!

Average Vacuum
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After looking at the Sharks and Dyson's, I decided to buy this one because of the lift-away option. I primarily use this vacuum on my laminate floors and tile. I wanted something good for hard surfaces because, honestly, who likes using a broom? I give this vacuum 3 stars because the suction is good, BUT you aren't SUPPOSED to have to clean the brush roller that makes constant contact with the floor, it is supposed to be non-tangle with hair. However, the brush roller got clogged after a couple months of use and stopped spinning. I had to dig out the hair by hand. There is an indicator light that should be green if the roller is working. The light came back on and it started working again after I cleaned it out. Also, the wand part is nearly useless because the hose isn't stretchy at all. The vacuum will tip over if you don't carry the canister around within a foot at most of where you are cleaning. This is not a bad vacuum, but for the price tag, I am a little disappointed. Would likely purchase something different next time.

It is bulky and hard to move around
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this vacuum for all the features it has but I find it awkward and bulky. I like and hate the lift a way. I like the convenience of being able to take the body off to get under stuff but at the same time I don't like to have to hold it. I can't use the other had to move chairs if I am holding the canister. I think they should add wheels to it so you can put it on the ground and wheel it behind you when needed. Also they should make the hose longer so you are not dragging or pulling over the machine. With all the reviews about suction I was expecting everything to come to me but it did not. I had to roll over it. I should state that I used this vacuum for hard floors. Right now I don't think I will be keeping it. My prior vacuum is a Meile canister vacuum. I really wanted an upright but I guess they haven't quite figured it out for hard floors yet. If the Shark people are reading this you should make a thinner head for hard floors so you can get around and under furniture. That with the wheels on the lift away would have made a big difference.

This vacuum is a dog hair/hardwoods/tile beast!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent vacuum! Handles dog hair and human alike. Even does a decent job getting pine straw that the dogs bring in. Works great in hard floors. You DO have to keep the beater bar area clean, fortunately the vacuum is super easy to clean. Many parts come apart for washing in the sink. I love the lights on the wand which makes seeing to clean crevices easy. I would buy again!

Grat vacuum
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was a great vacuum for years. It even survived the kids using it. Almost 4 years later and i am replacing my first part from years of abuse and kids slamming the front roller into stuff.
