I have been debating about upgrading my vacuum, first time using this baby and it picked up a lot of dirt.

This is a upright vacuum. Well, yes, that's true, but you can also separately purchase a caddie so it can be used as like a canister vacuum with a powerful sweeper. I did not have the caddie, so I used the Lift-Away in its "native" configuration. I have never been more impressed with a vacuum. It shines a merciless LED in front of the sweeper, so that the dirt, lint, cat or dog hair or any other substance in the way is swept into the clear canister. The results are there to observe after one session. This unit picks up so much stuff that you'll have to empty the canister often, and the process is quite easy. It comes with a handy black bag full of attachments which aid in getting in every crevice you can imagine. You can also lift the vacuum unit off the handle to run the sweeper under a chair or couch. That's a very useful feature. The power cord is nice and long and wraps around the cleats on the handle for storage. We have a maid who helps us on occasion, and brings her own vacuum. But the last time she visited, her vacuum was on the fritz, and she used the Shark. She simply loved it! A lot of sound engineering went into this unit. I was able to get it out of the box and put together in 10 minutes. It has a user washable filter, and given it's pickup power, it needs to be washed at least monthly. The vacuum works so well, and is so easy to use, I sometimes find myself looking for an excuse to vacuum! I am serious. I can't say enough about the product. Highly recommended!
