The Shark FlexStyle Air Styling and Drying System positions itself as a versatile, all-in-one alternative to higher-priced competitors, and overall it follows through. The FlexStyle combines a hair dryer with multiple styling attachments, including auto-wrap curlers, oval and paddle brushes, and a concentrator. The standout feature that differentiates it from competing brands Is the rotating design. With a simple twist, the device converts from a traditional dryer into a styling wand, which makes switching between drying and styling feel intuitive rather than gimmicky. Airflow is strong, drying time is quick, and heat feels well controlled. Even on higher settings, it avoids the overly hot sensation that can lead to damage or discomfort. The auto-wrap curlers work particularly well once you get the hang of them. The airflow pulls hair smoothly around the barrel, creating consistent curls with less effort than a traditional curling iron. Results are polished and natural-looking, especially for loose waves and everyday styles. The brushes add versatility, making it easy to smooth, add volume, or shape ends without juggling multiple tools. Build quality is solid, and is a situation of “you get what you pay for.” Doesn’t feel as “nice” but that’s understandable that shark had to make some sacrifices to keep the price lower. Still, attachments snap on securely and feel durable enough without being flims. Noise levels are noticeable but reasonable for a high-powered dryer. Where the FlexStyle, like all Shark products, really stands out is value. It offers a wide range of styling features that work solidly, at a price point that is cheaper than other brands. Overall, the Shark FlexStyle does everything it advertised itself to. One small wish would be a case or something to help keep all the attachments organized, but that would likely drive the cost up.

I don’t understand all of the great reviews. The curls would not hold at all and the brush attachment don’t work any better than the Revlon on-step brush which is so much cheaper.

I picked up the Shark Flexstyle air styler and dryer system for my wife who is hairdresser as she was looking for a prosumer level tool for use at home and travel. We have experience with many of Shark's products and they have mastered the art of moving air! We also admire their commitment to solid, quality solutions. The product comes securely packaged and offers a selection of attachments to get you started right out of the box. The product has a satisfying heft and feel in your hands. The barrel is a bit heavy which speaks to its quality construction but also proved a bit fatiguing to hold over time. My wife mentioned that she would have appreciated a textured surface where she grabbed the unit to give her the sense of a more secure grip. Shark products always feature clever engineering. For example the wand features a pivoting action that converts it a right angle, multi-speed, multi-temperature, blow dryer with plenty of volume! The controls are touch sensitive, convenient to reach and offer a good selection of heat and volume. The tips of the attachments are insulated so that you can use both hands to wrap your hair without the danger of burning yourself. As expected the blow dryer moves a significant amount of air given its size. The choice of multiple temperature settings, including a "cold shot" makes this a very flexible tool. Attaching the styling tools is easy and they too feature quality construction. The inclusion of both "right" and "left" curling attachments is intended to enhance switching sides as you work but ultimately she found it to be a bit of a gimmick as anyone who is used to a regular curling iron has probably mastered the task with a single barrel. The styling concentrator attachment was a bit problematic. The unit made it relatively easy to wrap her hair and held it securely during the drying/curling process but the resulting curls really didn't provide long-lasting results. In fact, sometimes the airflow will "blow-out" the curl as you unravel it! I suspect that your experience may vary based on the texture and volume of your hair but keep this in mind when you're thinking of buying this product! A final note in support of this tool is that Shark offers an array of addition attachments that may be purchased to add even more capabilities. Overall, the Shark FlexStyle is a well built product that I believe satisfied most of her needs and would earn a recommendation to her friends and customers.

Could not get curls to stay. Less than 5 minutes after I’d curl, they would fall out and it looked like I’d done nothing to my hair. I tried it a few different times, thinking it was just user error. Ended up just returning it.

It’s not worth the hype. For one, my curls stay all of 5 minutes. After that my hair looks like a rats nest for the rest of the day. For two, I’ve had it less then 2 weeks… and it’s already shut off and won’t turn back on…

    Styles and Dries Quickly

I’ve used the Shark FlexStyle for 2 weeks—quick drying time and adds real volume for thinning hair. Faster than my old dryer because the brushing and drying happens at the same time. INSTALL/SETUP Basically none—plug in, pick your attachment, go. Swapping combs/heads is the only “setup.” The only learning curve is the grip: you’re brushing and drying, but it doesn’t move exactly like a normal brush, so it takes a session or two to get the angle right. BUILD/FEEL Feels solid—even though the casing is plastic, there’s no flex or rattle. Attachments are a bit bulky, but they click in/out easily. Noise is pretty average (a touch quieter than my last dryer) and the overall setup feels compact but just as effective. FEATURES/FUNCTIONS DRYING SPEED — From towel-damp to styled in under 5 minutes—low effort, low fuss. VOLUME/SHAPE — The brush + airflow combo lifts at the roots and keeps shape without frying ends—nice boost for thinning hair. COMFORT/HEAT — The low-heat approach is the win here: dries fast without that “hot spot” burn. I don’t feel like I’m cooking my hair anymore. DOWNSIDE/WISH I wish the handle had a slight ergonomic curve—the straight, thicker grip works, but a softer contour would make handling easier. OVERALL A quick, easy multi-styler that dries fast and adds real volume—does what it should with less heat and less hassle.

I will start by saying I havr always been quite hair challanged. When I saw this mti styler (at 1/3 if the cost no less) I was intrigued. I have longed for a tool that made made styling my hair easier. This tool has made doing something with my hair much easier. This styler includes two 1.25" air wrap curlers; one to wrap left and one to wrap right, an oval brush, a paddle brush, styling concentrator and the styling base that folds into a micro hair dryer. One great thing about this multi-styler is that it is super lightweight and versatile. This would be great as a travel hairdryer! The biggest downside is that it doesnt come with any kind of carrying bag or case. I have always loved my hair curly, but have never been able to do it myself. If I could manage to do it, it always took hours and ended up looking like Shirley Temple. The air wrap tools made it simple and achieved the look i was going for. The upside is that you dry your hair while styling it. This make styling more time efficient. I also have very fine hair which often droops immediately; I seemed to get more longevity out of my curls. One con is that you have to turn the styler on and off each curl you do. The buttons are not easy to find by feel so I'd often turn the fan or heat down instead. There is also a bit of a learning curve in getting the hair to wrap more neatly around the styler. This styler does not cause any heat damage as it is always regulating heat to ensure not to get too warm. It has 3 heat settings and a cool shot button in addition to 3 fan speeds. One of the coolest features is how it folds/flips into a mini hair dryer. This sets this styler far apart from the competition. In addition this offers a paddle brush. I was able to use this feature to dry my hair while making it straight and smooth. The oval brush adds more volume while drying while the consentrator helps focus the air to one area while drying. All in all this is a great tool to have.

    Sleek and stylish upgrade

I've been using the old fashioned type of hairdryer since forever and I thought it was time for an upgrade. I really like all the other shark products in my home, so I jumped on this Flexstyle. The first thing I noticed was how much less bulky this is. I love the swivel feature for better reach and different angles. It takes up so much less space for storing it and it would also be easier to travel with. I guess I would say it's quieter than a traditional hairdryer but it does operate at a higher pitch, more jet like. I like that it has a more focused stream of air and what this produces on high is quite impressive. It has 3 speeds and 3 heat settings with a cool button. Setting 2 on both seems to be my sweet spot.(be careful as is does get very hot) The diffuser brush will see the most use from me but the "curlers" are great for volume. With the blowing air wrap technology you won't get tight curls but big waves, great if you have straighter hair. The Flex styler seems to dry my hair faster, maybe due to the more focused air flow. And even the cord is nice. Good length and that more rubbery material so it doesn't get in the way as much. If your looking to upgrade your hairdryer, definitely give the shark a shot.

Works well but best for thin to regular hair.

My wife really likes her Shark FlexStyle but it did have a bit of a learning curve and there are a few things to be mindful of. The FlexStyle is best suited for thin to regular hair. My wife is latina and has very thick long hair. The styler functions do work for her, but her hair doesn't hold the shape as well as my daughter's hair which is a little thinner. It does help when you use the cooling function to lock in the curl after letting it twist while hot. While the styling portion may not be the best for her hair type she is very impressed with the blow dryer function. Despite it's slim, compact size the FlexStyle is very quick to dry her hair and offers enough power to get through her thick hair. The attachments connect firmly and the pivot locks nicely into place and doesn't have much wiggle to it. It's compact stature makes it easy to handle for extended styling tasks. The only minor annoyance is the placement of the air intake. It's placement is understandable, if not inevitable, but it is easily covered up by your hand, especially in hair dryer mode. This chokes out the dryer slightly and forces you to regrip the handle regularly. All in, the Shark FlexStyle is a great device that offers lots of functionality in a compact package.

I have very long, thick hair, so a thorough, full-style blowout takes 30-40 mins. when I do it right. It’s hard work holding a blow dryer in one hand & a brush in the other while trying to part & separate sections to dry for such a prolonged period. This is why I often just default to using a diffuser & go curly. I’ve tried so many hair dryers, curling irons & other styling gadgets over the years, many of which have proven ineffective, that I didn’t have high expectations going into my testing of this new system. But I was pleasantly surprised w/the great results! There are several features that I really like about this Shark drying system: 1. The functional design of the dryer: the hinge system makes it easy to turn the device from dryer mode to styler w/one easy twist. And the styler locking mechanism makes it simple to switch from a brush to the curlers. 2. The Oval & Paddle brushes provide enough tension to produce a smooth finish. 3. The ability to simultaneously dry & brush is a huge timesaver that I cut my drying time in half! But it takes practice, especially when you’ve been holding a dryer in one hand & a brush in the other for so many years. 4. The Auto-Wrap Curlers really work! 5 Stars for this innovation! They’re another timesaver and they produce the large bouncy curls that I want. Again, proficiency w/this tool takes some repetition, but I don’t think I’ll be breaking out the old curling iron anymore now that I have this very efficient mutl-styler. The only 2 negatives for me: 1. The high-pitched sound of the high-rev motor is annoying. While my previous high-end hairdryer was also pretty loud, it had a lower-pitched roar. I understand that there are tradeoffs with a strong power tool, but the next iteration needs to be quieter and/or lower-pitched. 2. Both the Oval & Paddle brushes shed bristles w/each use. I’m finding about a dozen tines on the floor after each drying which are a pain to vacuum after every session. I’m concerned about the durability of these attachments. Are all the tines going to detach over time? None of my other brushes shed like this.
