Good vacuum when you use the boost mode but the battery runs out quickly, good thing you get 2 batteries but mine only came with one.

Most cordless full size vacuums either do not hold a charge or don't have good suction. This vacuum has both - great battery life and great suction. Right out of the box, it was easy & fast to setup and use. We used it for a good hour vacuuming our basement (and then my son wanted his turn), and it still had one of three bars of battery life. Plus it comes with a second battery just in case you do run out. However, it does take a little while to charge (although not as long as I thought). Overall, it did a good job of picking up small and medium sized debris. Overall, it's a great vacuum and lives up to the Shark name (every Shark vacuum we've owned has been great and lasted a long time).

    A Lot to Like

To say this vacuum sucks would be a compliment! That’s what you want a vacuum to do, and this one has great power to do it. Aside from that asset, there is a lot to like about the F80. In fact, there is only one thing that bothers me about it. So, let’s get that out of the way first. By its design, the F80 is top heavy. When using it, it’s no big deal. However, if you need to take a break or just need a moment to move something out of your way, you have to collapse the handle (or lay the vacuum down on the floor) so it doesn’t fall over. If it topples, there could be damage to it or anything it hits on the way down. Then, to restart vacuuming, you have to repeat the whole process in reverse. That’s too awkward for a moment in time. Now for the good stuff: 1. Easy assembly. 2. Great suction power on carpet and especially on hard floors. Then, when you are finished, the dust cup is easy to empty. By its design, you position it over your trash can, press the button to open, and the dust, hair, etc. fall out into the trash can. Shut the dust cup cap, and you are ready for next time. 3. Controls are convenient and very easy to use. In one area on the head of the F80 are the various settings for: Power, Carpet, Floor, Suction, and the Ion Boost. 4. Maneuverability is amazing! Once you get the feel for it, it’s like the first time you drive a car with power steering after a car with manual steering (Some of you surely remember those days.). It can be moved so easily in pretty much any direction at the flip of your wrist. Not only is this a great convenience, it’s time saver. 5. The Floor Nozzle (the “foot” of the F80) has a cleaning path of about 9”, which seems small as compared to traditional vacuums. However, after using and getting familiar with the F80, the smaller path is an asset. You can easily get it into small areas; and, combined with the low height, you can easily get it under furniture. No more dust bunnies under the bed! 6. Battery power lasts. A reasonable sized house could be cleaned on one charge, but if you find you need more time, simply change the battery. The F80 comes with a spare; and, so long as you keep the batteries charged, there are no worries about cleaning time. 7. In addition, the F80 comes with a crevice tool and an upholstery brush. The F80 is very easy to like. The fact that it can’t stand on its own bothers me, and I considered taking away a star for it. However, as I have written this review, I realize that wasn’t worth a whole star. Since I can’t post 4.5, I’m rounding up. The F80 is a very worthy vacuum, and I would recommend it.

The vacuum works great on the carpet and the hard floors without scratching anytime I use it. The batteries last a long time and it is easy to swap out. I use this mostly to vacuum up the pet hair from the back of the car and the kitchen floor and the small carpets that I have. My wife loves to use the vacuum also the only thing that she does not like is the way you have to empty the canister she does not like having to stick her hand inside the canister when she needs two empty it.

Light and easy to use. Like that batter swapping is easy. The battery inciadiator is good to know when a battery is to be changed. Easy to empty out debris when full. Like that you can easily vacuum under beds or tables. Another plus is portable so using in vehicles is a great second use. Vacuumed up our carpets and tile floor very good with the settings and the extra power is needed just press the button on the right and it works great. Very good vacuum with many uses and with 2 batteries makes doing our entire house a non issue.

Shark surpasses Dyson with this gem of a stick vac

We really love this Shark vac! We have a Dyson upright and thought we’d give this a shot to see how it compared. When it arrived, my wife had just finished vaccuming the carpet in our bedroom with the Dyson. It only took a few minutes to out the Shark together (very simple assembly). The batteries had enough charge to give it a test so I turned it on and tested a very small area, maybe 2’ x 2’. To our surprise the collection container was full of doggie hair! My wife was shocked! The Dyson is obviously not getting the job done! After the quick test, I put the Shark away for the night to charge the batteries. This thing folds in half for very convenient storage. The battery charger can be mounted on the wall if you desire. It comes with the standard array of attachments as you would expect. The next day, I popped in a fresh battery and vaccumed the bedroom once again. It was unbelievable just how much our Dyson was missing. It seems that Shark has surpassed Dyson in performance. In closing, one thing I want to comment on is the noise of the Shark. I have grown so used to vacuums that have a big, powerful sound when you turn it on; so loud that it just feels like they are working. This Shark is quiet. It is so quiet, that my initial impression when turning it on was that it was weak. This is NOT the case. There is tremendous suction power without all the noise. The bottom line: We fell in love with this vac and are going to give the Dyson to my niece!

This is my first cordless vacuum, and after having a premium brand vacuum for about 7 years, which is still going strong, I didn't realize how useful a vacuum like this would be to have around. What I like about this product is that it is pretty easy to set up, comes with two batteries (which is super convenient), and it is light and doesn't take up much space. Additional, the vacuum is easy to clean and can be detached to reach smaller areas/spaces. Overall, I'm impressed, Shark!

A nice evolution in a good vacuum

I’ve been a happy owner of a previous model Shark cordless vacuum for more than a year and since, regularly using it and retiring my old cord model. I was so happy that probably you could read some of my previous feedbacks but also some of my few previous concerns. The goods news is that this model is definitively a big step forward into the full user satisfaction and probably someone read my concerns. But this new model show up in the market and now, it is still powerful, easy to move, adaptable to different surfaces (carpet and hard), multiple accessories included and quick doing the job. So light that my 8 y-o does his cleaning part each time that he does a mess. But this model has in addition to that: bigger receptacle (still bagless) than before for the dust (now you can easily do the full, 4 rooms’ house without emptying it in the middle). Includes a second battery to extend the vacuuming time for hours (I need also to acknowledge that is the same battery model of previous cordless versions so you can exchange between them). One new functionality that includes the possibility to flex the hose definitively change the access problem to complicate places such under your bed or the table. Finally, I found that the new brush is also wider and more effective in picking up the dust or the hair (a must for pet owners). I only saw a single minor concern (and seeing how much this company takes care of the users feedback are probably some homework for the engineers) and it’s related to the diameter of the hose, in one occasion some of the paper got stock in the middle blocking the dust. While the security element turns the vacuum off, cleaning the blockage was not obvious. This is a must have equipment at home.

The F80 is a great vacuum for wood floors. The double brush head picks up dust, dog hair and other items on a hard surface very well. It’s almost like having a fancy swifter and vacuum all in one. Dog hair also does not get tangled which is a big bonus for me. Battery life is great and it’s actually very quiet for a vacuum. My only complaint is that it lack suction when you have the beater bar attachment on. It appears it takes so much power to run the two bars it doesn’t work very well on carpet. It does a great job getting the surface junk off but lacks the ability to deep clean. If you have any other attachment on it it appears to have much more suction.

This vacuum cleaner was a great idea. However, it doesn't have enough power or suction, even with a newly charged battery, to pick up anything. I am going to throw it in the trash. I really wanted to like this solution.

This vacuum is great. Its surprisingly quiet compared to others in the cordless stick vacuum group. You get the option of high and low setting for both smooth and carpeted surfaces, but I mostly just go with low for saving battery. Having two batteries and a charging dock this time around is a huge plus, so no more having to wait to finish a job while your battery needs charging! I really like the mobility and swivel of the stick, so you can clean up under and around more easily. This is overall a great package and I would highly recommend this to others.

I seem to have a developed an obsession with vacuums in the last few years. Between a couple of Dysons - corded for carpets upstairs, cordless for tile floors and stairs, a Shark robot to wander the house to give the dogs something to do while we’re away and now the Shark ION Multiflex. One of the annoyances I’ve had with other cordless vacuums, or any other cordless products, once the battery dies your done. Shark combats this by including a spare battery - it’s up to you to keep both batteries charged. Operationally, it works as you’d expect. A touch button on the back that turns it on/off. It also has a boost mode that will increase the sucking power, but decrease the battery life. You can also select between carpets and floors when using the floor attachment. Speaking of sucking power...my dog decided to shred a cardboard box. Small enough pieces to be a pain to pick up by hand, but large enough to clog the Shark. Amazingly enough, even with the clog, it still continues to pick up dog hair and other odds and ends. I didn’t realize it until I went to empty the canister and it was nearly empty. So I dumped some of the dog hair and other “stuff” I picked up back on the carpet - while my wife looked at me with bewilderment. “It’s all about product testing!” I think we both wonder why she puts up with me. Anyway, I’d have no reservations recommending the Shark to a friend. It might struggle a bit on thinker shag carpets, but did really well on the surfaces I through at it.

Finally the cordless vacuum we've all waited for!

My wife and I have several animals, two cats and two dogs, so we have a lot of vacuuming to do. Needless to say we have had our fair share of vacuum cleaners through the years and tried probably about every major brand that you can think of. In the past few years we've seen several companies try to create vacuum cleaners that are cordless and once we started using cordless we never did want to go back to the old, corded vacuum cleaners. It's just a certain amount of freedom with having no cord. The problem really has been twofold with cordless vacuum cleaners: power and longevity. Our last corded vacuum that we bought was a Shark and we were a bit skeptical but we had found a great deal on it. We thought there was no way it would challenge our $499 Dyson. We had just decided that it would be nice to have a secondary vacuum to use on another part of our house and so we bought the shark. Little did we know upon purchasing that the Shark would become our primary vacuum throughout the house, relegating the Dyson to the occasional use. With that being said we were confident that the Shark IonFlex Multiflex IF281 would be a pretty good vacuum. Our last experience with a similar cordless vacuum had a couple of issue, primarily being it constantly shows as something being stuck in it when there is nothing stuck in it. Secondly, however, it would run out of gas fairly quickly, I believe 20 minutes or so. I had always thought it would be great if every cordless vacuum would just include two power packs so you would have one on reserve. Well the Shark Ion Multiflex IF281 does just that. But wait, there's more, as they say...the Shark Ion Multiflex IF281 actually has a long, long battery time anyways. I would tell you what it is but honestly in over a week of use throughout the house we have not exhausted it. Which is amazing and changes how one would use a cordless and allows it to be a feasible replacement, finally, for that corded vacuum which we do not like to use if we can avoid (hate the cord now, hate it!). Now, how does it do picking up things? Fantastic! From what I can tell it has as much power to grab cat hair, dog hair and anything else that is on your carpet. It picks up an incredible amount of dirt. The canister is generous but of course not as big as some older, corded vacuums as we are all used to. But no complaints here. I do think the process for emptying it is a little more than need be. You really don't detach the chamber but rather the entire top piece and then the chamber has a bottom that just flips down and the trash just falls right out. I would prefer a separate chamber that detaches completely from the vacuum but honestly it is not that big of a deal. It is made up for by the super-flex ability of the unit to flex mid-point (hence the name "Multi-Flex" and go under just about any piece of furniture or area that needs cleaned! Its a really awesome feature that will take a while to get used to as I typically just think "Oh I can't get under that"..but now I can! So all in all I wholeheartedly recommend this to anyone, especially pet owners. The fantastic suction, long battery life, extra always-ready battery and overall light frame makes this a real winner in the vacuum world. If I could only use one vacuum this would be it. And coming from a man who owns a small room full of various vaccum cleaners (trust me, it's embarrassing) I think that is really saying something. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

A Great Vacuum for a Lazy Person!

I love cordless vacuums. In the past, I have struggled to be able to vacuum my entire house on a single charge. I am so happy that the Shark Ion Multiflex ends my struggle. The unit comes with two batteries that should give up to 80 minutes of vacuuming time. I can actually vacuum my whole house and a vehicle on a single battery. Which brings me to my next point: this vacuum is awesome for cleaning your car! The attachments allow you to get in hard to reach places, and being cordless means you don't have to worry about extension cords, or not having enough slack. I'm lazy, but the ease of using this vacuum on my car will ensure it is cleaned more regularly. Finally, the "Flex" element to this vacuum is great. The joint in the middle of the unit allows you to easily get under low tables and couches This also allows the unit to take up less space and fit in smaller cabinets for storage.
