First, I want to say this is my first robotic vacuum, so I don't have other's to compare to. I have pets in my home and I wanted something that would pick up the dog hair between deep cleanings. This thing definitely does the job! The intelligence in it for mapping works very well. We have a lot of furniture and other items on our floors and the vacuum found it's way around all of it and cleaned our whole floor in 1 session. The dog hair was picked up as well as stray pieces of dog food that my dog decides to spread around when he is eating. The dust bin is big enough to do a complete run on our floors without emptying. The only downside is the noise. If you can run this at night while you are sleeping, this would not be a factor. It is not quite as loud as a upright vacuum, but it is enough noise that you have to turn the TV up. It works very well and you can control it from your phone, which is a huge plus. I have concrete, tile and rugs in my house and it goes over all 3 without a problem.

I loved other shark products I have, but this one is not worth it. After the 3rd time using, side thin brush bent and replaced with spare. I have run this maybe 15 times and it does not pick up very well. I even ran it twice, emptying it twice per use and it still doesn't clean well. I do have a dog, but after 2 cleaning you can still see pet hair all over. Lastly, pairing to internet and app worked the first few times, but after a couple power outages, it does not connect now. I have went through troubleshooting 3 times and I am done trying!!

We have new, very dark faux wood floors, so I thought it would be the perfect environment to try out my first robot vacuum. Out of the box, it’s a very easy setup. The instructions are clear. And downloading the Shark App is a must. The Good: - Easy setup: Be sure to allow several hours for the initial required charging time before 1st use - Mapping ability: It needs several runs (4-5 in my case) to fully map the area before you judge its capabilities - Coverage: Once it was fully mapped, it made a successful pass over 90% of the area that needed vacuuming The Bad: - The Shark App gets ONE STAR! After downloading, it immediately crashed. Then it crashed during every use, whether at startup or in the middle of a cycle. It also frequently logged me out, requiring me to re-enter my full login/password each time. There appears to be no option to stay logged into the app or for login credentials to be remembered. This is highly annoying! - LOW SUCTION POWER! Many times I observed the brushes sweeping away debris, rather than sweeping debris into the vac to be sucked up into the storage chamber. Also, the airflow from beneath the unit often blows light debris away from the vac. I found debris was often scattered to the baseboards. - No cleaning tools included. The instructions explain how to use a brush for cleaning, but no brush was provided. - If there is a need to stop in the middle of cleaning, the Go-To-Dock option in the App rarely works. I observed the robot circling around for 10 minutes, banging into walls/objects, aimlessly retracing its path. I finally had to pick it up & place it in the dock. Overall: I would not trust it to vacuum carpet after it demonstrated mediocre results on smooth, level flooring. For hardwood floors, it gets 3 stars for average sweeping power. It’s better than nothing, but this unit cannot replace vacuuming by hand with a full-powered unit.

Shark IQ Robot™ Vacuum - RV1001 I have reviewed a few robot vacuums over the last few years. Most have impressed me but they didn’t perform over the long haul like most appliances should. And the newer vacuums all want to connect to your home network and by doing so can become more complicated than necessary. I am mostly fine with that as long as it can work as expected offline. It does give you choices and that is a good thing. If you want to tell your current assistant or phone app to run your vacuum and it works that's a nice option. But like all robot vacuums you do have to pick up lose thing so the vacuum doesn’t get stuck. Well I have to say of all the robot vacuums I have had and reviewed the Shark IQ was the most resilient to either not get stuck in the first place or to find a way to get out of a situation that looked like it should. And it’s path, especially as it learns your floor plan does pretty much prove where it got the IQ in its name. This is one impressive device to show how a consumer artificial intelligence appliance can make life easier. It’s not perfect but impressive nonetheless. It does an excellent job not just getting around but with it corner brush and suction. It does a very good job on my wooden floors. It has no problems with my floor rugs and its not nearly as loud as others I have had. The bin could be bigger but its very easy to empty. The vacuum worked wll every not being connected to my home network which was a good thing because that's where Shark needs to get better. The Android app failed to finish running the network configuration setup. So for much of my testing I didn’t have a working app. Which as I said doesn’t prevent the vacuum from working but it does impact the out of the box experience. I was able to contact Shark support fairly quickly on a Tuesday morning. The support wasn’t able to fix the app but he said he would send me to a higher support with another call back. I didn’t get a call back that same day but I did get a call back the next day. The same tech I spoke to told me the App had been updated and should fix my connection problem. Later I uninstalled the App and reinstalled it. It did fix the problem and I got another call back the next day with this same tech asking me if I still had any problems. I was happy to report that I didn’t. The App has scheduling functions, you can start the vacuum or send it back to its dock anytime you want. And this vacuum does an excellent job of getting back to its base. It will build a floor plan of what it has been mapping but unfortunately I never got to actually have the app show the map. I did mention this to the tech and he said it can take up to five full vacuums before the map become available in the app. He also went on to say that if you move the base even a small amount it can cause you to lose the map and the vacuum will redo a new one. I am looking forward to what options I have once I do get a full map but my experience so far has been very positive. For an appliance like this I always recommend looking at adding an extended warranty.

Thank you for your feedback. The robot takes a few runs to accurately map your home, and each run needs to begin and end at the dock. Prior to running the robot, we recommend that you prep your floor by removing all obstacles, such as loose power cords, clothes, toys, and low-hanging drapes. The Shark IQ Robot™ Vacuum - RV1001 is the newest smart robot to clean your floors while you are away! The packaging was very simple and straight forward, unboxed it put the two brushes on the front then placed the dock down and set the robot in the dock and let it charge for 6 hours. 6 Hours later I cam back with the app installed on my phone to be greeted by “Karen” my robot. I set her off to start cleaning the floors, she was hitting everything for over an hour making her way through mapping the place out. Once she was done, she couldn’t find her dock, so I had to place her in it. The next day, I set Karen to go off to cleaning at 1pm, she promptly started cleaning the house again, but this time was aware of where items were last time to a certain degree. She made it back to her dock about an hour later. The third day, this is where the Shark IQ Robot™ Vacuum - RV1001 shined. It had fully mapped out my lower half of the house and didn’t miss a beat and parked herself in the dock. So takes a few days for the program to get all settled. Performance: The robot handles over 800 sq. ft on one charge no issues. The vacuum cleans well and even gets all the pet hair no problem! (Just make sure you empty the back after each cleaning. The Pet cleaning feature is really nice and the extended brushes help against walls and tight spots. CONS: Can’t change the voice only name of robot in app. Cords are its nemesis- iPhone charger ends get sucked up easily. PROS: It cleans Really well It’s quiet Pets don’t bother it Gets in the tight spots I highly recommend the Shark IQ Robot™ Vacuum - RV1001 it is the best robotic vacuum I have every used or reviewed.

The Shark IQ Robot is the first one of the auto piloted vacuum cleaners I have picked up, so going into it, I like that the setup and instructions are quite clear. They do use the descriptor of 'app-controlled robot' in the name but you can press the buttons on the vacuum to start or dock, the app or voice with Alexa or Google assistant. Currently I have the dock tucked back away in my living room and use it to clean living, kitchen and hallways when everyone is away. I keep the machine on a schedule running Monday, Wednesday and Friday but will manually start it when I feel needed. I haven't had any issues with this vacuum picking anything up, it does good with the hair our husky may leave behind, I have also got comments from family who swings by from time to time that the shark does a good job at cleaning. We currently have a laminate "hardwood" looking flooring (which is the bulk of what it cleans) but also Tile in the kitchen and a rug in the living room. The shark does well on all of these surfaces and does not get stuck on the raised transition to the kitchen or onto the rug. The IQ robot does use the sensors to learn the layout of your home and will eventually display a map that you can see in the app, at this the vacuum has not made a map but I can see the progress of it's completion if I attempt to open the map. You do notice it learning, as it leaves the dock now it know which direction to start in as apposed to turning aimlessly for a few moments and bumping something. Curious to see the difference once the map is complete. At this time I am happy with the vacuum, it's nice to know that when you aren't home you have a little robot running around cleaning the dust and hair off your floor for you.

I have had a chance to use the Shark IQ robot for a couple of weeks now and at times I find myself just sitting and watching it to see how it can figure out where it needs to go next. this little robot can do a lot of cleaning. I am amazed at what I find when I empty out the bin on the robot. Even after the house has been cleaned, the robot still finds an unsettling amount of dust and dirt, I am assuming from under furniture and places it goes that we don't regularly clean. I wondered early on how much suction the IQ robot had until I emptied out the bin and found several coins that it had picked up someplace in the house. I guess, if it can find enough change under furniture it will pay for itself. There have been some issue though. 1. I have enabled the alexa app, but it still doesn't communicate with my robot, probably something I'm doing wrong. 2. The front wheel seems to get stuck some and stops it from cleaning. 3. It will run itself up on an occasional uneven spot and get stuck, but overall it can go just about anyplace I need it to go. If I could get my 3 kids to pick up their shoes and clothes it would make the job much easier for this little vacuum as well. Overall, an amazing little device that actually cleans and learns you house while it is doing it. Pretty amazing.

This shark robot vacuum does the job! It was easy to set up and link to wifi, the app is easy to use. You attach these little brushes to the front of the vacuum that are a little like fins and there's a filter that's easy to install. It's pretty quiet, and does an amazing job of picking up animal fur! I was impressed by how much it actually picked up. The battery life is way better than a competitor's model I've used before. It comes with a barrier guard, it's like tape and you can lay it down and the vacuum will avoid that area. I feel like this vacuum does a thorough job of vacuuming. While it does take time to do it's job it's so nice that you can set it to go, and even schedule times for it to start and then go do something else while it does the cleaning for you. As far as robot vacuums go, this one is great.

Sound, simply put it is very loud. The loudness of the device is hard to get past, especially when there are other devices at this price point that are quiet. So quiet that if you’re not careful, you could step on it. I do understand many devices will run when people are not home, but what if you want it to run when you are? You hear that loud device, almost as loud as a vacuum. From a cleaning standpoint, it didn’t do a very good job. I started in the bathroom, where there is tile, knowing there are sometimes hair and dust in the corners or on the edges of the baseboards (where it meets the floor). The Shark - IQ was unable to clean those areas, even with the little spinning brushes. I let it attempt the bathroom 3 times and it never got those areas clean. Now, I didn’t expect it to be perfect but when you see the same dirt or hair in the same spot, you know the device isn’t doing what it was designed to do. Over carpet it did a decent job picking up most debris. But doesn’t have great suction power as other devices do. Charging speed was adequate and it ran on a schedule for the most part. Getting the Shark IQ connected to a WiFi was a bit troubling. It would not connected to my normal 5Ghz signal. I had to revert back to the 2Ghz band. So if have totally absolved your 2Ghz connection from your WAP, you’ll need to bring that back. Included in the package were border strips so that the device won’t go past a certain boundary. I found this a bit tedious to put down border strips but on the plus side it recognizes stairs or steps. After being excited to get this device, I was not impressed at all.

From what I read in the included manuals and inserts, this is designed for home with pets. If you have a small dog/cat and nothing else, this might get the job done as far as keeping your entire home clean. Beyond that, it's really only great at doing regular small sessions while you have to manually go and do a single "deep" clean with a traditional vacuum say, maybe once every 2 weeks or so. Having said that, this thing really is great. Every 2 days I set it loose in the house and let it just go around doing it's thing. Once it starts to get low on battery, it finds it's way over to the dock, charges up, then off it goes after a few hours and resumes. The only time I have to intervene is to move it up or down to another floor (that is until they figure out how to handle stairs...) Now, I did do the leg work of moving items (chairs on top of the dining table, end tables, baskets, etc etc etc into another room) so as to limit the amount of items that would potentially interfere with the Shark while it did it's thing. But, even if I hadn't, I don't think it would have much of a problem figuring it's way around and doing a decent job of get itself "un-stuck" if it found it's self cornered. In the short time I've had it, I've yet to get really all that into the app. It is supposed to "learn your home" over time, but so far (about 4, maybe 5 sessions) it hasn't populated any "maps" on that particular area of the app. So who knows, maybe in dozen cleaning sessions it'll populate? Either way, not a deal breaker, but felt like pointing it out all the same. So, would I rely solely on this thing do to, say...a 2,000 sq ft home with 2 or 3 dogs? No. It simply wouldn't be able to keep up. But, if you are in a smaller home and/or have a single pet, or if you want to use this to keep things at bay and only have to do an occasional intervention with a traditional vacuum every 2 weeks or so, this thing really is awesome. Not perfect, but a worthy addition to keeping a clean home.

I've been using this robotic vacuum cleaner for around a month now. Here's my experience with it so far: Setting it up was fairly easy with the Shark app available for both Androids and iPhones. Apart from the actual device, the box contains a few extra brushes, an extra filter and magnetic strip to define perimeter. The vacuum does have a camera or a sensor kind of thing at the top which it probably uses for mapping. Hence, it's important that it's not covered while it's doing its job. The mapping of the whole house takes many passes and unfortunately hasn't happened for us so far. I am speculating that it's taking lots of time for us because we usually use it for a couple of rooms at a time and then put it in the dock. Hence it doesn't really get a chance to learn how to navigate the house. Once it's done mapping, the user may supposedly ask it tot clean a particular room and the robot would just do that. As per the document integration with Google Home is possible but I wasn't able to do it because of poor instructions and the device no more supported on Google Home platform. The vacuum cleans in straight lines (mostly) which is supposedly more efficient. It certainly doesn't do a lot of zig-zag random cleaning. The suction is pretty good and it does pick up a lot of hair and dust as it cleans various room. Ours is hardwood floor though which makes it easier for it to pick up dust. Unfortunately, we feel that it's fairly loud. I have't used any other robotic vacuums but in general the noise level for this is pretty high. Another con of this is that it doesn't fell very well built. It's very plastic-y and doesn't feel very sturdy in my hands. All in all, I am waiting for the day for it to map the complete home so that I may start using it to clean specific rooms.

Does a good job cleaning when it isn't stuck

It picks up A LOT of dirt and pet fur, which is good, but the bin doesn't always empty into the base right and it has to be taken out and cleaned manually. The base doesn't always empty right, dirt and pet fur get stuck inside and have to be removed manually. It gets stuck in some spots because it gets confused and can't find it's way back out and eventually the battery runs out. It's rather loud, it's not a distraction for working at home but forget watching tv. It doesn't cross thresholds consistently, sometimes it just rolls right across, other times it keeps trying until the battery dies. The app crashes when I try to add a room to the map, so my house has no rooms. Eventually after a few weeks the map became recognizable to my floor plan. The recharge/resume works well enough, it does eventually do the whole house. Their website doesn't have a way to submit suggestions.

I absolutely love this Shark Vacuum! I set it up in my living room first which is about 20x20 area with a lot of furniture and it was able to maneuver around everything without getting stuck. My two dogs hang out in the living often and shed fur everywhere so this was perfect for cleaning up after them even when I am not home since I could remotely activate the vacuum. After my initial test I moved on to mapping the rest of my house and blocked off areas with the included blockers. I blocked off where my dogs sleep, eat, and drink so they would never be disturbed there and freak out. After initial set up of the entire house the vacuum would clean for about 45 minutes and then return to charge and to warn me to empty out the trash. I just love the convenience of pressing the clean button or activating the robot whenever I want and having it clean. It always finds its way back to the base and is able to maneuver around object once it maps the area like a charm. I would definitely recommend this shark vacuum for anyone with pets and anyone with open floor plans especially since the robot will be able to clean a lot faster and more efficiently. It's also very quiet and can even run when you are sleeping without disturbance so that is a major plus.
