Customers are saying
Customers appreciate the Matrix Self-Emptying Robot Vacuum's excellent cleaning capabilities, accurate mapping, and ease of use. Many praise its strong suction, self-emptying feature, and smooth navigation, making it a convenient and effective cleaning solution. However, some users note that the vacuum can be loud and that the dustbin may require more frequent emptying than expected. While the app has received some criticism for being difficult to use, the overall positive feedback highlights the vacuum's performance and helpful features.

Another awesome product from Shark!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ll start by admitting I’ve always been very skeptical of these types of auto vacuum cleaners. Maybe it’s my age, maybe I just like old school upright vacuuming. We like to keep our floors tidy, as we have two little ones crawling around and laying on the floors constantly. Having two cats as well makes it difficult to keep up at times. Our trusty Shark upright vacuum has always done an amazing job. Seeing what it can pull out of the carpet in the bagless container after only a few days, is pretty nasty. Do kids and cats really produce that much hair and dirt in only a few days? The answer is definitely yes! Having kids obviously takes a lot of time, so we finally caved and decided to give a robot vacuum a try and wow are we glad we did. The Shark Matrix Robot vac is something of a revelation for us. With this unit we can easily use the SHARKCLEAN app to customize scheduling and do targeted spot cleanings with ease once the initial LiDAR vision 3D mapping is complete. You can even create zones where you don’t want it to go in the app once your home or area is mapped correctly. This is very handy in case you have things that it could possibly tip over, or simply things like toy boxes, beds (to go under) and dressers or other places like rooms you want it to avoid. We use ours in our finished basement only since we spend most of our time down there playing with the kids. Being that the basement is carpet and upstairs is all hardwood, more vacuuming gets done down there anyway. The robot itself has sensors that can bypass objects you may have left on the floor. That said, if you leave small toys on the floor, it won’t see them if they are really small and it will try to run right over them, or push them out of the way. My suggestion would be to pick up as much stuff as you can before your next scheduled cleaning, actually before all cleanings. This ultimately takes far less time than having to pick everything up and then use an upright vacuum, so it’s actually a win-win. Arguably the biggest point of my skepticism with robot vacs was, would they actually be able to clean like an upright. The short answer is not quite, but... it does a WAY better job than I expected. A good enough job that I really only feel the need to pull out the big upright Shark if there is an unexpected mess like popcorn, chips, or most any type of spilled dry food for instance. I still use the hose with the upright when I want to do corners and edges (by the baseboards) because let's face it, you could probably have a $5000 vacuum and it still wouldn’t get the corners and edges. Most robot vacs only go in straight lines, but this one has Matrix clean, which has the robot cross clean on a grid so no spots are missed. I have found that this works very well and definitely picks up more than it would with only one pass in a straight line. Our basement is only about 800 sq ft, so the Shark never runs out of battery during its cleaning schedule. I absolutely love the auto empty feature. After its cleaning run, the main robot goes to the dock to recharge and dumps its contents into the larger canister that is inside the base unit. How cool is that! One less thing to worry about. The box mentions you can run up to 30 days before emptying the main canister on the dock, but since we haven’t had it for 30 days, I can’t report on that for sure. I have been checking the main canister only on trash nights once a week and it is usually only a quarter full, so with that easy math, I am guessing that it will indeed make the 30 days as advertised. Lastly, while I can’t comment on longevity, since we have only had it a short period of time, I trust the Shark/Ninja name, as we have several products by them that are all solid performers. The build quality of this is outstanding, as are our other Shark/Ninja products. If the battery lasts and the kids don’t jump on it while it's running, I am hopeful that this will be up and running for many years to come. Thank you Shark!

This is the worst by far. I have complained about it multiple times. Just quits working randomly and has no cleaning pattern. I should have been refunded because this is a waste of money

My new favorite cleaning toy that's far from a toy
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was a little hesitant to try it based on prior experiences with these kind of vacuum cleaners, this Shark Matrix robot has quickly become my favorite cleaning tool. Our schedule is pretty hectic and finding or making the time to vacuum can be a hassle. We have lots of foot traffic in and out most days so if you don’t make that time, the floors can start looking really bad, really quickly. Enter the Shark and exit the stress. After receiving the unit and unboxing, it took about five minutes to put it all together. The base has a handy cord wrap for one less potential obstacle which was a nice touch. Before you can start cleaning, you’ll have to download the app and set up the WiFi. It had a little trouble finding and connecting to my network for some reason, but on the third or fourth try, I was all set. The next step is mapping your space. The unit has to be charged to at least 50 percent before you can start that process and it does take a while to charge. Just keep that in mind if you are wanting to start cleaning right away. Once the battery is charged enough, you send the vacuum on an exploration run where it wanders around and uses Lidar to “see” what your home looks like. After a half hour or so (depending on the size of your space), a map will appear in the app. From there, you can define and label different spaces, and even set up “no-go” zones (which is great because you don’t have to have any special boxes, contraptions, or tape to set up artificial barriers for it not to cross). If you don’t like the map, you can send it on another run. I was quite satisfied with mine. Then you’ll get a demonstration of the spot-cleaning mode in which the unit will clean a specific location using a grid pattern which is great for really high traffic areas when maybe the rest of the home doesn’t need to be hit. Anyway, once it’s all set up and ready, you can use voice controls, the app, or just push the clean button to send it on its merry way while you go about doing anything else you’d like to. (There is also an option to set a schedule for it to run, but with an older dog in the house who sometimes has accidents, I haven’t tried that for fear it will try too hard to pick up something it shouldn’t!) Once it’s cleaning, it will wander around for about a half hour or so before returning to the dock to empty itself into the base and then go back where it stopped and pick up the cleaning cycle. While it is working, it’s amazingly quiet but the self-emptying portion is substantially louder. Not annoyingly so, but just something to note. The built-in bin on the base is plenty large to go through several cleaning cycles before it needs to be dumped. My house has a mix of hardwood, tile, and area rugs and this guy does well on all of them. There are also some transitions between rooms which it can maneuver over without any trouble. All in all, I have been super impressed with this vacuum cleaner and hope it lasts for many years to come.

Helpful, Convenient, Smart Robot Vacuum
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I upgraded from a much older robot vacuum to the Shark Matrix and really appreciate the advanced features. Our older model moved around the house, bumping into things and turning randomly. It would only get parts of the floor, and often couldn’t find its way home. Plus, we had to empty it all the time. Enter the Shark Matrix, a much smarter robot vacuum. It navigates in and out of rooms following the map it created during setup and empties itself into the bin in the charging station. It still bumps into things now and again, but it seems to realize that it’s hit an obstacle and goes around trying to get where it was going a different way. Setup was relatively easy, but I did have to turn off the 5 GHz mode on my Wi-Fi router temporarily, as the Matrix only works on 2.5 GHz. Once it was set up, I turned 5 GHz back on from the router and the robot stayed connected. I wish the setup guide had mentioned this step for anyone with the two Wi-Fi frequencies sharing a network name. It would have saved me a bit of head-scratching. Speaking of that setup guide, I’m usually not one to read manuals in detail, but the getting started guide on this thing was very basic, relying on the app to guide me through most steps. Once I had the Matrix online, the app prompted me to let the robot explore my house to create a map. About 25 minutes later, the app displayed a pretty accurate representation of my home. I spent another 10 minutes or so labeling each room. Finally, I drew a “no-go” zone around one area where I don’t want the robot to clean. These steps were a bit time consuming, but I only had to do them once, and now the robot can clean specific rooms on command (or on a schedule) and avoid problem areas. It’s a bit odd that the app doesn’t let you write your own labels for rooms (instead of calling something “Sally’s room” or “Mom’s Office” you have to pick from a list that includes things like master bedroom, guest room, etc.), but that’s a minor nitpick. There are a few different cleaning modes, from eco mode designed to capture light dust to max mode which drains the battery faster but has the strongest suction. There are options to clean an entire house, one room, or certain rooms, as well as a mode that targets one small area for extra cleaning. Battery life is impressive, and the app even has an option for the robot to go home, charge up its batteries, and then continue where it left off a few hours later. Overall, this is a helpful and convenient robot vacuum.

Excellent cleaning and mapping
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What a great vacuum as it does all the work and frees me up and allows me to focus on my other chores. On first use, I was amazed by a couple of things. First off, the accuracy in which it mapped my house. Once the mapping was complete I was very impressed. Not only did it catch just about every square inch of my home which is an odd L type shape but you could even make out the placement of my coffee table in the living room as well as a few other pieces of furniture which it could not get under. It was very accurate in the mapping. On first clean, I was amazed once again at the amount of dirt it picked up. I was almost embarrassed because I vacuum often and didn’t expect it to pick up what it did. It really did a great job even getting under my beds and couches which had clearance for it to get underneath. The matrix cleaning allows it to move back and forth in a grid pattern and does not miss a spot from what I saw. My favorite feature is the spot cleaning especially with a toddler who is a messy eater. After dinner I set it to clean under the area she ate. Spot cleaning takes about 10 minutes and once done, you would never know she was there as all the food she dropped is gone. You can also assign rooms based on the map and have it clean whatever room you choose. The vacuum itself is not loud but when it gets back to the base, the self cleaning feature which pulls the dirt from the vacuum is pretty loud but only last 10 to 20 seconds so it’s not that bad but I wouldn’t run it when my toddler is sleeping because it may wake her. Finally cleaning is simple. Pull the canister from its base, bring it to the garbage, unlock the door and empty the canister. Very simple and doesn’t have to be done after every clean even though I prefer to do so. Overall, this is an excellent vacuum and I am recommending it to everyone I know.

Nice robot vacuum for messes and in-between vacuum
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This shark robot vac works great for cleaning most surfaces around the house. I like the docking station so you don't have to empty the robot after each use. Normally after around 10 uses the bag needs to be replaced. The upright dock is also the vacuum charger as well I like that this robot vacuum doesn't smack into everything around my home. Also the mapping works nicely when you want the vacuum to only cleanone room or a certain area. You can integrate this with Google assistant or use the smart app for control, which is a nice added feature. My wife and I like to use this for in-between cleaning, ideally like that it easily maneuvers under furniture and beds where it's hard to get to normally for vacuuming. It usually takes about a hour to complete vacuuming the entire house, where the robot needs a additional charge to complete the entire process. Which in my opinion is very reasonable. Also you need to replace a couple parts over time with multiple uses to keep the robot vacuum running at its best.

Part of a Great Family of Shark Robot Vacs
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.- Robot Vacuums have been on the market for many years now and improvements over those years have eliminated many of the problems that plagued early designs. The days of low battery power, low “suction” power, unreliable navigation, inability to find or return to the charge base and uselessly small dust carrying compartments are long behind us. This year’s crop of vacuum robots like the Shark Matrix Self-emptying RV2320S are designed to eliminate even more difficult problems. The Shark Matrix is not the most feature laden vacuum in the large family of Shark/Ninja cleaning robots, but it’s close. I’ve been fascinated by robot vacuums since they first became available years ago, but I must say that the early ones were not much “Smarter” than a billiard ball bouncing around the room from wall to wall with no awareness of their surroundings. They were frustrating to watch as they missed the same dirty spot on the floor over and over again. Watching this unit work you can see clear evidence of the improved vision, logic and power being put to work. FEATURES: - “Precision Grid” cleaning means it cleans the room in rows from top to bottom as well left to right. This matrix tracking leaves no area unvacuumed. - A High suction force can be selected through the downloadable App if conditions require it. - Hi power battery means that most floor plans will be covered in one charge. However, the Shark Matrix creates a map of your floor-plan and uses it (if necessary) to return to the exact spot it left off at (to return to the charger for about an hour), before it resumes cleaning the whole floor-plan. - Has improved infrared scanners and sensors so it can clean in (to our eyes) total darkness. - Self-cleaning cutters clean the pick-up rollers if long pet hairs get wrapped around those rollers. - An extra-large dust-bin/charging station that sucks the dirt out of the robot at the end of every cleaning session. Depending on how dirty the floors and rugs are, this dirt extracting station can allow the Roomba to operate for days or weeks autonomously without needing to be emptied after every session. A great bonus is that this is a simple lid covered bin that can be dumped out easily when necessary. There are no expensive collection bags to buy every few weeks. - Can be voice-controlled by Alexa or Hey-Google - 1-year limited warranty INCLUDES: - Charging Station/Collection Bin - The Robot Vac itself - A QR Code Card for a downloadable Android or iPhone App for monitoring or control of the Shark RV2320S PROS: - Great cleaning ability - The ability to set up/pair with Google Home or Amazon Alexa through Bluetooth, allows hands free control. CONS: - The packaged User Manual does not offer much information beyond FCC and safe operation rules. - Transferring the dirt from the Vac to the long-term storage canister on the charging station at the end of a cleaning session is rather noisy. - My experience with Shark’s Tech Support took two calls to get a knowledgeable solution. The experience with the first tech was so bad, I docked it one Star on this review. CONCLUSION: A very capable robot vacuum. Although described it as very noisy during dirt transfer, the ability to store dirt in the base, allows for weeks of un-tended use if necessary. My older Robot Vacs with no extra storage were full after every weekly session, meaning they couldn’t clean two weeks in a row without emptying the little bin in the robot itself.
