Worth every penny! I live with a heavy smoker, I purchased two of the Shark air purifiers and the smoke smell is 90% gone. I can’t even tell when they’re smoking in the house anymore! Also helps with pet hair/dandruff. I’ve owned a lot of air purifiers, but none that compete with this.

Unboxing and Setup The unboxing and setup of the Shark NeverChange air purifier was simple. The included Quick Start Guide has clear instructions and illustrations for setting up the unit for use. Removing the packaging around the unit, tape on the fan vents, and the internal filter was simple. I unpacked the included order neutralizer and followed the instructions for inserting it into the top. I placed the unit on one of our side tables in our living room about a foot from the primary window, plugged it in, and pressed the power button. The unit has easy-to-understand controls and displays on the top and an air quality display on the front. The unit immediately tested the air quality and automatically adjusted the fan speed. The initial reading of our air quality was 85%, and within an hour, it was up to 99%. Usage Usually, I don't need to use the air purifier since the quality in my home is 98-100%. However, in the past few years, we have had smoke from summer fires, and I expect we are due for another season of smoke. So far, the only extensive test has been when we are cooking. The air quality can drop to around 85%, and the unit does an excellent job bringing it back to 99% within an hour. I always leave the unit running since we have two cats and a large living room. The air is noticeably cleaner and smells fresher. I'm impressed with how quiet the unit is in automatic mode. It is noisier but tolerable if I force the fan up to full speed. Due to the shape and look of the air purifier, my wife says it should come with robotic arms and move around the house on its own. Features • Touchscreen controls and a clear display on the top of the unit. • Touch controls for air cleaning mode, display light intensity, particulates info, fan settings, time till the air is clean, and lock to prevent accidental control selection. • Air quality display on the front of the unit. • It can clean the air for multiple rooms up to 1400 square feet. • Airflow is through an anti-allergen NanoSeal HEPA filter. • Two DebrisDefense easy-to-clean filter screens for trapping hair, dust, and lint, protecting the HEPA filter for a longer five-year life before replacing it. When the ring on the front display pulses, it is time to clean the side filter screens, which easily lift up and out on each side. • 99.98% of dander, dust, odors, smoke, pollen, allergens, irritants, and pet hair are filtered out, thanks to the medium particle, activated carbon, and NanoSeal HEPA filter layers. Per IEST-RP-CC007.3 99.98% @.1-.2 microns. • Auto purify mode (Clean Sense IQ) will monitor the air quality and adjust the airflow accordingly. • Includes an Odor Neutralizer cartridge with three settings to guard against odors and release a fresh scent. • The replaceable air filter is suitable for up to five years with regular cleaning of the DebrisDefense filter screens. • The display can show air quality and the amount of particulate matter in the air in increments of particulates per million at 1.0 microns, 2.5 microns, and 10 microns. • In Auto Mode, if 100% clean air is achieved for five minutes, the unit will enter Eco Mode to optimize the HEPA filter life. Summary We are delighted with our Shark NeverChange Air Purifier. Undoubtedly, we will be healthier and safer during fire and pollen seasons, and there will be a lot less cat dander floating through our air.

We moved to a brand new build house. We seem to be replacing the HVAC filters every 2 weeks. This shark air purifier confirmed how bad the air is in this house and does a great job of keeping it at 100%. It starts at literally zero and takes a few hours to reach and maintain 100%. Also looking forward to not having to replace another air filter regularly. It is incredibly loud, so does not stay in the room while asleep. Overall great device that covers 1400 sqft maintaining good quality air throughout.

I’ve tried a variety of air purifiers through the years, and some of them work pretty well while others, not so much. When the pandemic hit and wildfire smoke also became more common, having these in your home went from a novelty, to more of a necessity. That, and I live in a very high pollen area that can cause my sinuses to go crazy even indoors at certain times of the year. So the Shark Neverchange Max hits stores, and it’s a little different than most other purifiers. The Neverchange has a filter that Shark estimates can last up to 5 YEARS in-between changes when used moderately, and this particular model can handle up to 1400 square feet if placed in a more open area. It’s a pretty good looking machine – they come in silver (more white) or black – and is moderately sized but not a monster, at just under 23 inches tall by just over 13 inches wide. Setup is quick – you just remove any plastics from the filter, put in an odor control cartridge (included) if you want, and place it on a floor at least 3 inches from any walls or objects. Took me less than 10 minutes after unpacking it to getting it running. The filter has varied states that start off by a basic dust filter, clearing basic air debris (which you can wipe off when needed), passing through a pet filter layer, a carbon layer, and finally a “Nanoseal HEPA” layer that can capture particles in your air as small as 0.1 to 0.2 microns. Side note – the first basic filter can be pulled out in two parts from both sides of the machine to wipe off (they look like machine handles but lift the filter out instead – the carrying handle is on the back). Air is pulled in through the sides, and clean air is blown up through the top. A digital readout on the front lets you know how dirty or clean your air is in percentages, and if put in auto mode, will ramp up or down the fan to clean more or less depending on what it senses. It will also let you know when it’s time to eventually change a filter or clean the dust filter. Or, you can simply set it manually for varied stages from low to very high depending on your needs. It’s very quiet in lower settings and once you crank it up you can definitely hear it, but it’s more like an air conditioning noise rather than anything obnoxious. You can set it to run for a certain number of hours and then auto shut off, too. Odor control cartridges can be inserted into the top (mine came with one) but I wasn’t crazy about the scent so have decided not to use it in mine. The power cord is 6ft which is pretty good, but I always like to see max lengths for items like this for the best placement in a room. My one complaint: There are QR codes on the setup guide and machine that allegedly take you to their web page for that machine, but in reality it just takes you to Shark’s generic sales page and after digging a lot I still couldn’t find what I was looking for. I didn’t need more ino as again, setup is very easy, but the QR really should take you directly to the product model number’s page in my opinion. Since I haven’t had the Neverchange for that long, I can’t rate the validity of it lasting up to 5 years, but I can say that it does make a big difference in the air quality in a large room compared to others I’ve tried. I have an air quality monitor that goes off from time to time regarding dust or other things in the air, and since turning on the Shark Neverchange, those alerts have gone way down, so it’s working. I would say that while it's a little pricey compared to some, this is a worthy investment to improve the air quality in your home or apartment considering the levels of dirt, dust, dander, and germ cooties that is typically inside these days, and by how much square footage it will clean out compared to smaller units on the market (provided the filter does last at least 3-5 years - time will tell). Thumbs-up!

My air purifier for my front room needed a new filter. I ordered a replacement filter but despite the filter being the official filter, the air purifier wouldn’t work as it did before. That left me with a fancy-looking fan. It was time to replace that old, useless air filter with the Shark NeverChange Air Purifier. And I am really liking it! Set-Up: There’s no complicated setup process for the Shark NeverChange. Remove the device from its box, remove the plastic around the filter, and plug it in. It’s worth mentioning that this purifier is beefy in size but has a futuristic minimalist look to it. You don’t even need an app to operate it. Just select the mode you want (mine is on Auto) and you’re good. The Clean Air display is well-illuminated, allowing you to see the air quality in the area. Performance: The Shark NeverChange fan is quiet. I don’t even notice it’s on until there’s a change in the air quality. Speaking of air quality, the Shark NeverChange detects when there are ‘hazards’ in the air. There was a grass fire miles away that created a lingering smokey haze in my area. I got home and brought in some of that air, causing the Shark to go to work. Its fan power increased and the Clean Air display went from 99% to 70% pretty fast. It was only when the fans were at full power that I could hear the Shark NeverChange. As a bonus there’s a Odor cartridge included that freshens the air like a fabric softener. Maintenance: That’s the beauty of this air purifier, I technically won’t have to change the filter for five years! That’s at least a couple of years of filter replacement money saved in itself. If you’re thinking about getting an air purifier then I would suggest that this be your first. Air purifiers also reduce the amount of pet dander and dust that normally accumulates day to day. There are so many benefits to them. And if you’re looking to replace an air purifier then how could you go wrong with one that doesn’t need a new filter for a few years?

The Shark NeverChange Max is compact but effective. I measured it a height of 22.5 inches and a width of 11 inches. It sits conveniently out of the way and doesn’t require much space. At lowest fan speeds in eco mode, this Shark is also one of the quietest air purifiers I’ve owned. I sometimes check to verify it is still on and running at night because it’s so quiet. It’s noticeably louder at higher fan speeds, but most times it is unobtrusively quiet. The fan can be manually be set to the lowest speed if it speeds up in auto mode and interferes with sleep or other quiet times. The same applies to the lights and audible tones for the touchpad. Both can be switched off from the touchpad if they become disruptive. Overall air quality is normally displayed by default. Touching the info button switches the front display to PM level and cycles through PM 1.0, 2.5, and 10. Like my other air purifiers, VOC and CO2 levels aren’t displayed on the device, although it does filter VOCs. The top mounted touchpad has controls for airflow, fan speed, auto/manual modes, dust filter status display, power, timer, and a child lock to prevent unwanted changes. The true HEPA filter cleans allergens such as dust, mold, dander, and other particulates. It also filters smoke and VOCs thanks to the activated carbon in the HEPA filter. In addition to the internal filter, the purifier has two removable mesh screen filters that slide over the air intakes to filter out larger dust and debris. Whenever air quality drops, the fan speeds up, the displayed air quality drops, and the light circle around the display changes color based on existing air quality. Blue is good, yellow is fair, and red is poor. The Shark does a good job on airborne allergens based on my symptoms. However, during the first day of use it constantly displayed air quality as 100% and all three PM values as zero. This was despite a stand alone air quality meter in the same room indicating poor air quality and a PM 2.5 level of 3 and another nearby purifier indicating a PM 2.5 level of 2. The poor air quality was mostly caused by high VOC and CO2 levels at the time. By the second day I finally started seeing changes in the displayed air quality on the Shark. The light ring around the display began occasionally changing from blue to either yellow or red depending on air quality, and fan speeds increased accordingly. The Shark is a lot more active now, and PM readings are more consistent between the it and another nearby air purifier. The included odor neutralizing module screws into the top of the device and does a good job of eliminating stale or musty smelling air and odors. The module has four adjustable intensity settings for the mild fresh scent it produces. The scent was most noticeable the first day but barely detectable by the second day. Despite the absence of fragrance, the room remains fresh smelling several days later. I believe the scent didn’t last long because I left the module set at maximum intensity. The user guide recommends setting the fragrance intensity to off whenever it is not needed. This helps prolong the effectiveness of the fragrance. There is no companion app available for the Shark. I searched the app store for my device but the only Shark app available, is for Shark floor cleaning robots. I also tried scanning the QR code sticker on the device but it only links to the product page and user manual. I operate and monitor all functions using the top mounted touchpad and the digital display on the front. There is an optional physical remote available for purchase if desired. My allergy symptoms have remained mild since switching to the Shark purifier in this room. Severe allergies are the primary reason why I use air purifiers and air quality meters throughout the house. If inside allergens are left unchecked, I experience everything from itching burning eyes to severe hives. So far, I have remained mostly symptom free in while using the Shark purifier in my bedroom. No purifier has proven capable of completely alleviating all my symptoms. Like our other purifiers, the Shark provides enough relief to keep symptoms mild and manageable. The Shark doesn’t have as many bells and whistles as our other two purifiers, but the only thing I honestly care about is effectiveness. I typically keep all of the purifiers on auto, and forget about them anyhow until it’s time for maintenance. I use my stand alone meters to monitor air quality because they provide much more comprehensive data for both indoor and outdoor air quality. All three air purifiers, including the Shark, are usually good at quickly responding automatically to sudden pollutant spikes. The five-year filter is a welcomed feature in this era of skyrocketing inflation. It does state “up to five years”, so it can possibly require earlier replacement in heavier use scenarios. I hope it actually does last and remain effective for the full five years. Occasional maintenance consisting of cleaning the filter every couple months with a clean microfiber cloth or vacuum is suggested to help prolong filter life. The same goes for the two external mesh screens. The internal filter cannot get wet, but the two mesh filters can be rinsed clean with plain water if heavily soiled. No cleaning chemicals should ever be used on either the internal or external filters according to the user guide. The Shark automatically alerts on the display when the mesh filters need cleaning. Filter status can also be displayed manually using the filter info button on the touchpad. The machine frequently goes into eco mode, which is the lowest fan speed, whenever air quality is at 100%. This helps preserve the life of the internal filter and components. The only other housekeeping task, other than occasionally replacing the odor neutralizing module, is a quick wipe down of the exterior.

I bought two of these as well as a smaller HP152 version since my newborn was having trouble sleeping due to congestion and the doctor recommended using an air purifier. Bought several to spread throughout the house to get good coverage especially in different rooms. Worked great for a while. One of these HP302s that i bought had the air quality sensor fail on it after a little less than 3 months, so it wouldnt work in auto mode anymore. I followed the online troubleshooting guide from shark with no luck. Called the manufacturer and asked for a warranty replacement. They had me go through the same troubleshooting steps i already did and when they determined the sensor was indeed bad they instructed me to cut the power cord inorder to render the equipment inoperable and they would send me a replacement and that i could trash the bad one rather than mail it back. They ordered me the HP152 instead of the HP302 version which i caught in the confirmation email and called back to get it corrected in about 3-4hrs. I was informed that they couldnt do anything about it since the process had already been started. I would have to wait till the incorrect one arrived then call to get a return label and send it back and they would send the correct one once they received the incorrect one back. Its now been 6 days and 4 calls to customer support to try and get a return label so i can send it back but still no progress. Sharks warranty is a joke. Now im down an air purifier and almost to the point that i will have to go buy a replacement one.

Shark certainly is raising the bar with the new NeverChange Air Purifier Max. This purifier can cover up to 1,400 square feet of living space, while capturing 99.98% of airborne particles like allergens, dust, and dander. It includes an innovative Odor Neutralizer Technology that uses a replaceable pod to release a fresh scent into the air to help guard against odors. And, best of all, the filter is advertised to last up to 5 years before needing to be replaced! A longer filter life helps consumers save money and reduces waste in the environment. This is a game changer for air purifiers. I’ve been using the Shark NeverChange Air Purifier Max for almost a week now and I have only good things to say about its design, features and performance. The unit arrived in perfect condition. It was nicely packaged in a large poly bag and cardboard inside a cardboard retail box which was inside another cardboard shipping box. Setup was a breeze and it only took a couple minutes to remove the tape and plastic from a few spots, remove the plastic bag from the air filter, insert the odor neutralizer pod and plug in the unit. The air purifier does come with a one page quick start guide to help you get setup and familiarize you with the Clean Sense IQ display and what the different color rings indicate. The guide includes a QR code to scan for more information, however it takes you to the main shark website and not to the full instructions for this model air purifier, as it indicates. Hopefully that will be corrected by Shark for future owners. I really like the design and functionality of this air purifier. It has a clean, modern look that allows it to be placed in any room with any décor, without disrupting the design aesthetic of the room. The operation of the unit is simple and very user friendly with touch-screen controls on top that work well and are easy to read. The Clean Sense IQ display is bright and easy to read with color rings to indicate the air quality. The air purifier can sense changes in air quality and when set on auto mode it will automatically react to changes in air quality to improve and clean the air around it. The Clean Sense IQ displays live updates so you can watch the Clean Air percentage improve as the air is cleaned by the air purifier. The air quality sensor on this unit works remarkably well, and truly does work in a multi-room environment. I placed the air purifier in my living room and noticed that it responded to changes in air quality in the furthest room away, within a minute or two and cleaned the air within another minute or two. Another great feature of this air purifier is the Debris Defense screens on both sides of the unit. These work as a pre-filter to catch hair, dust and lint and if you clean them regularly they help to extend the life of the air filter and improve the overall performance and efficiency of the unit. The absolute best feature of the Shark NeverChange Air Purifier Max is the air filter that is advertised to last for up to 5 years! While a washable forever HEPA filter should be the ultimate goal for air purifier manufacturers, giving us a filter that can last for up to 5 years is a great step in the right direction! They do say that the statistic is based on a 300 square foot space, versus a competitor unit, which leads me to ask why not test it running on a 1,400 square foot space, or at least something closer to the advertised usage. But I’ll just have to wait and see how long the filter actually lasts for my home. I’m sure it varies depending on usage. I have 2 dogs that produce dander as well as a husband who likes to smoke from time to time so I’m guessing I’ll only get closer to 3 years, but only time will tell. I’m really happy that I got this new air purifier by Shark. It’s yet another great Shark product that is well-designed, built to last, has innovative features and is user friendly. The air in my home is cleaner than ever before and with the Odor Neutralizer my house has never smelled more fresh!
