Bought this during a black friday sale. I was extremely excited to test it. Fresh out of the box, it seemed fine, easy to put together, good accessories. The second I placed it on my rug and turned it on, the detect feature basically made it unusable. The feature sucks up the rock and the light immediately turns red- indicating that there is a blockage. I decided to call their customer support and the agent tried to be helpful with the description I gave him. He said the head piece might be defective and it would take 4 weeks to get a new one. I decided to take it back to Best Buy that night. Luckily, the employee was super helpful and allowed me to exchange it. I bring it home, put it together and place it on the rug. Immediately the light goes red again. It is now incredibly clear that this vacuum was not meant to be used on rugs and they probably didn’t test it on rug when they were developing it. If you have a hardwood floor, this is fine but if you have any rugs at home, forego this entirely and get a different vacuum with less sensors. This is a waste of money and returning immediately.

I hate this thing. This sounds strange, but the suction is TOO strong. I can't use this on a large (8' x 10') area rug that is soft, and not heavy or stiff. The hose is too stiff so, using the wand to reach something like corners at ceiling level or the vent in the bathroom is very difficult. The attachments are constantly falling off. If you use the lift away feature to be able to vacuum under a bed or something like that, you have to hold the dustcup the entire time because it falls over easily. The best thing I can say about it is that it is purple and the dustcup is easy to empty. It was not cheap, but I'm secretly hoping it will break soon so I can justify buying something else.

Super heavy, hard to read the buttons to push as to what type of floor your cleaning, sometimes it takes off self-propelled and is extremely hard to control , the red light for dirt detection continuously goes off and then it will not suction anything. You have to turn it on and off way too complicated way too heavy pick something else.

So disappointed in this vacuum. It was bolted down on the shelf so we couldn’t feel how it would work. Our fault I am sure. It was awkward , heavy, hard to maneuver. The purpose for a new vacuum was so it was easier to move and less heavy. This does not fit the bill.

No better vacuum but it only lasted 5 months. My heart is broken seeing it dead.

I'd give it a 5 stars if it didn't die on me after a couple of uses. Brush stops turning about 10 seconds into use, and red light comes on. Inspected brushes, everything, and found no obstructions. Unplug and replug in after 30 minutes or so and other "reset" methods didn't help.

We got the vacuum on July 6th and it quit working on August 8th. Best Buy will not let us return the vacuum and having trouble getting the vacuum company to take it back. I suggest not buying any.

As someone who has owned Shark vacuums for years, I wanted to love this vacuum. Unfortunately, either mine was a lemon or this model isnt it. The cord would not stay in any outlet in my home. I ran the vacuum twice and it shut off in the middle of running both times. I called Shark to get some insight and they provided no help. They were not willing to find a resolution so ultimately I returned this unit.

I have a dog that sheds like crazy. The self-cleaning brush roll easily cleaned the dog hairs off the carpet while preventing hair from wrapping around the roller.  My carpet now looks and feels noticeably cleaner and softer.  The one slight flaw with the Shark PowerDetect is the weight. It is heavier and less portable compared to stick or handheld vacuums. There is some maintenance with this vacuum.
