I did not realize what my dyson was missing

I was on the market for a new vacuum cleaner. Now that I have kids dirtying up the house and I could tell that my Dyson was not picking up all of the dirt left behind by the kids. After reading tons of reviews on the various vacuums, I chose the Shark. The only negative comments that I saw about this model was the appearance (but I do not care what it looks like as long as it cleans and after purchasing it i did not think that it looked any different than any other vacuum) I had to take a picture as it was so disgusting to see what the shark picked up and the Dyson missed. (see attached image that shows after using in 1 room) Basically I have been living in a dirty house...so gross!! I love the new vacuum and the light on the end is great...especially since I have little lego parts all over my house. Makes it really easy to see! And on top of it all, I ordered online and chose to pick up in store. I got a text that said it was ready 15 minutes later...now that is service! At most other retailers, it takes hours and sometimes you have to wait until the next day

broke quite easily and since the hose that attaches to the body can be so easily snapped (cheap plastic piece with a spring) it makes the whole vacuum useless..

    Unbelievable for pet hair

I was on the hunt for a new vaccum for pet hair. I felt like my older cheap one was on its last leg due to years of picking up pet hair from my shedding dogs. The vaccum came, my 14 year old son had it together in a few minutes. Of course I used it right away. I keep my house clean and vaccum at least once a week. We have 3 dogs, 2 shedding huskies included, and my 1 huskie sheds a crazy amount. Let me tell you I almost felt like I had been living in a dirty house because the amount of stuff (dog hair mostly) it pulled out of the carpeting was unbelievable. It was like I hadn't vaccumed in a year. I literally had to empty cup after each room. It's a decent size cup and very easy to empty. The suction is amazing, its very easy to push and maneuver the pivoting head with the useful headlights. I don't really use it as a lift away unless i'm doing the stairs. My son sucked a fake plant up with the curly straw filling in the bottom once and it was so easy to pull all of the hoses out, take the pieces off so I could get my fingers inside each section to pull out anything that got stuck. This vaccum is a definite must!!!! Especially for pet owners. The only drawback is that you need to store the white roller piece it rolls around on as a canister and the vaccum wand and head that goes with that. Most of the parts do stay on the vaccum some stay on the white roller. But that is just a little blip, not a big deal to store it in the closet for when I need it. Forget about the expensive Dysons. $600 for a vaccum is ridiculous when the SHARK works much better from what I've hear from a few ladies who have both the Shark and the Dyson......... go for it

Great at first, but broke after 8 months

When I first bought this vacuum, I loved it. Compared to the old Sears workhorse it replaced, it's extremely lightweight, maneuverable, and seemed to pick up the gobs of pet hair in my house a little better on the hardwood, rugs, and carpet. The filters are easy to access and clean, the headlights are fairly bright, the on-board tools are useful, and the way the vacuum is set up, clogs are pretty easy to unclog. Now, 6 months later, the honeymoon is over. The rollerbrush has stopped spinning so the vacuum still works well on tile and hardwood, but it merely pushes the dog and cat hair into gross piles on the carpets and rugs. I called customer service since the Shark has a 5 year warantee, and they'll fix it for free, but I have to pay them $20 to ship it there and $20 for return shipping. Of course, I didn't save the box so I'd also have to go to the store to buy a box and packing supplies as well - probably at least another $20 right there. A quick internet search shows that this has been a known problem with these vacuums for several years. It's extremely disappointing that Shark continues to manufacture these models without fixing this issue.

    It WORKS!

It's been six months since I had a dog, and I've been vacuuming regularly with an Oreck for ten years. On its first pass, this Shark pulled practically an entire new dog's worth of unseen hair out of carpets in two small rooms. As I went through the rest of the house, I was surprised (and a bit embarrassed) to see just how much dirt the Shark picked up. It almost propels itself along carpets, and the combination of the roller brush and suction has raised some carpet strands that have been compressed by furniture legs for months or more. Despite using Oreck's best bags, rooms have been smelling musty after its use. This Shark leaves no odors behind. It's somewhat quieter than the Oreck, and doesn't feel that much heavier. All in all, great bang for the buck.

LOVE this vacuum!! Especially if you have dogs!

This vacuum is awesome! I have 2 big dogs and they shed ALOT; a lab and golden retriever. I previously had a Kirby vacuum and was never satisfied with it's suction and I was using it at least 3 times a week. After vacuuming my living room with my Shark, I was amazed by just how much dirt and hair the Kirby had been leaving behind. For the first time in a very long time, I finally feel like my carpets are CLEAN! This vacuum is so easy to use. I went from using it on carpet to quickly using it on my hard wood floors with ease. It is light weight and easy to dump once the canister is full. I will never buy another brand vacuum! You will NOT be disappointed!

    Much better than Kirby

We have owned a Kirby for around 8 years and it just wasn't performing anymore. At the extreme cost of a kirby, I had high expectations but finally came to terms with the fact that we paid way too much money for a shiny piece of junk. Now, we have only used this Shark Rotator once to vacuum the whole house but I am truly disgusted and amazed at how much dirt and grime that was collected after the first use. Our house is only 10 months old, too. The Kirby was definitely doing almost nothing after 8 years of use and I change the bags and belts regularly and even put a new brush on to see if that would help. It just didn't have any suction anymore! I am very pleased with the performance of the Shark after the first use and at about 10% of the price of a Kirby, it was a great purchase. We have a lot of wood and tile in our home and use the Shark Steam Mop for those, also a great product!

    Best One We've Bought!

Wow, this is by far the best vacuum cleaner we've bought (and we've been through several brands over the years including Dyson, Panasonic, Hoover, Eureka, etc,), The Shark brand was highly recommended by our old house cleaner, so when I retired and took up vacuuming chores, I searched for a Shark model. The online reviews led me to the Rotator Pro Lift Away and we've been amazed with its performance. It does a great job vacuuming and it is so versatile with all of the accessories that came with it. And the HEPA filtering is great. If you buy it, I would recommend also buying a spare filter kit (not the HEPA filter, rather the sponge-like and pad filters that are washable but must be completely dry before reusing). The only additional accessory I wish it came with is a backpack so I could strap it on when standing on a ladder.

    OUTSTANDING VAC

I didn't want to go out and get a mortgage to purchase a new vacuum cleaner. I didn't need one that picks up BOWLING BALLS or GOLF BALLS, don't have them sitting my carpet. This Shark roator Lift Away works as a canister or upright cleaner. It is the perfect width, able to get into tight spaces. NO MORE HAVING TO DASH OUT AND BUY BAGS that hold the dust...Used this going on two years, and still so pleased

    best vacuum for price

I have owned a Navigator, a Lift Around and a cordless Shark Vacuum. Getting the Rotator was already a well researched purchase. This is simply the best vacuum that is affordable, well constructed, ease of use, low maintenance, good attachments that work and suction power beyond any other vacuum I've ever seen, hands down. The new swivel base is great and keeps the vacuum from tipping over. Everything clicks when locked into place with the shark line. I've never had any issues with any of the Shark vacuum's Ive owned and often will show the capabilities of to my friends by bringing over to their home to see the results. Kevin P

    Who needs a broom?!

I am not one to write reviews but I just HAD to rave about my Shark! With a newborn on the verge of crawling and an indoor Labrador retriever, I needed an upgrade on a vacuum. My Shark totally fits the bill! I vacuum my hardwood floors and ALL of that hair that my lab sheds (believe me, it is A LOT), comes up with GREAT ease! I literally told my husband, "Why do we even own a broom?!". As a test, I vacuumed one room with our old vacuum and then immediately followed behind with my shark. GROSS! If you want a professional grade vacuum, this one certainly fits the bill. My sister has a more expensive name brand vacuum (D). She paid twice the price and guess what--my Shark sucks up what hers left behind!

    Super Impressed

I've never really thought much about buying a vacuum cleaner until now. I really can't state just how impressed I am with this. It's not heavy, the suction is amazing, the attachments are great and simple to attach/detach. The overall functionality of this vacuum has made cleaning easier. From my experience with it, it's a very well thought out design. Removes cat hair with ease (love the small rotating brush attachment), and I can't believe I'm saying this, but my carpet honestly looks cleaner than it ever has. The suction is so powerful that it can be a little much for rugs, but there is a setting to decrease the suction that makes it perfect. My younger self would find a way to jump through time long enough to punch me in the face for leaving a vacuum cleaner review, but this one has honestly impressed me so much that I thought I'd share my experience for anyone who may be considering this purchase. You won't regret buying this beast.

    Great, versatile, powerful vacuum

This vacuum is sturdy, does an amazing job picking up dust and hair out of carpets, hardwood and even grouted tile with the adjustable carpet/bare floor wand attachment. Everything on this vacuum is really thought out to help you out while you use it. While being used as a conventional upright, it is really easy to maneuver around and if it cant reach into a small spot, detaching the wand to swipe it in a hard to reach corner is super quick and simple. The only thing that I wish they would change would be with the canister mount. two of the wheels are casters (they will rotate to move whatever direction you want) but the other two are fixed position. I wish they would have just made all four wheels be casters so the thing would just roll freely behind you. The vacuum is also a bit unstable while on the 'upright mount' this normally isn't an issue, but when i've switched to the wand in the middle of a vacuuming session i've almost had it fall over when the hose tugged on it when I had strayed too far from the unit. (one time it actually did, though it had hit the cord and couldn't roll, which was probably more my own fault than the vacuum's)
