The Shark SmoothStyle Heated Comb Straighter is a neat device with some cool features. First of all it is a Shark product and in my experience they always deliver and great product packed with plenty of features. The Shark SmoothStyle can do many things and is rated for all hair types and can do wet or dry hair. It has ceramic heating elements as well as a blow dryer all in a brush form. Think of all the possibilities you have with that combo. I’ve tried straightening my hair with this and I can use a lower temp compared to my flatiron saving my hair from damage. It’s also great to use when needing to add volume to your hair, just brush your hair as normal and use 1 of the 3 preset air temperatures to your liking. Another convenient feature of the SmoothStyle heated comb is the cool touch tip where the end of the brush stays cool for you to grasp so you can have more control while doing your hair. Another thing I’d like to mention is the ease of use with this product. Its controls are pretty straightforward and no need to fiddle around while styling your hair which is a plus for me. Overall I’d recommend this product if you’re on the go and want to get in and out but I don’t think you’d use this to replace an actual blow dryer.

I have been a huge proponent of round-brush dryers for a long time, since we had one in my mom's bathroom in the nineties, and so when they came back "en vogue", I was so excited! I've tried a couple of versions and kept returning on well known name and my process was to use the dryer and then use my straightening iron, because I have naturally curly hair, and it was certainly a process. The thing that appealed most to me about this "device" is that it claims to be the brush and straightener in one and since I travel a good bit, consolidation is always good! When I got it, I will admit that the first use was a little clunky, I didn't read the instructions because I thought I knew what I was doing and I was really wrong... You truly do need to let your hair air dry till it's about 70% dry and then blow it out with the brush-dryer and finish with the smoothing comb. Since I've been using a separate straightener, I had gotten used to a rather flat look and that was fine, but now I've discovered that I can have an actual full blow-out experience with the body and waves that last easily two days and I won't go back!

This is great for all types of hair. Very high quality product that like all Sharks, delivers top notch performance. Love how it can dry and straighten my hair as smooth as silk and I have curly hair.

I have to be totally honest. I tried this numerous times with both wet hair trying to dry my hair and dry hair. I have very long hair to start out, it goes down half my back. Using this was quite awkward for me with the length of my hair. First when it's wet it didn't do a very good job of drying it. It took so much longer than a normal blow dryer would have. When you have limited time in the morning this can be a pain. The first time it took me at least 20 minutes to dry my hair. Yes, it was less frizzy than normal, but that is just too long in my honest opinion to spend drying my hair. When my hair was dry, it did look quite nice and sleek and smooth, but again the length of my hair made it very difficult to use. The Shark Smooth Style is quite large and heavy to me. It didn't get to the roots of the hair at all, it's so big that it's impossible to do that. I was hoping that this was going to be an awesome items to use so that I only have to use one product and no longer require to use a round brush, this is not the case. I can see if someone has much shorter hair being able to use this with much less difficulty. But if you have a head full of hair that is halfway down your back, this probably isn't for you. It's probably nice, but just giving my full honest opinion that it's not something that fits into my morning routine at all. I really wish it would have been. Thank you.

I love that I can style my hair with one hand. Both the hair dryer and the heated brush function work fantastic. My only gripe is it gets pretty heavy while using but I can live with that!

Overall, this is a solid styling tool. I've used it in both the wet hair mode and the dry hair mode on my thinner, slightly less than shoulder-length hair. I first used it in dry hair mode to see if it would smooth my hair and remove any frizz on a non-wash morning. When using the dry hair mode, it actually did get rid of any second day frizz. I did not use any hair care products when using it in the dry hair mode. I have naturally straight hair, so did not really create any curl or bounce, but it did extend my previous day's style each morning when I didn't wash my hair. There is only one setting for dry hair mode, and it does take a moment to warm up, so pay attention to the lights as indicated in the instructions. Don't try to use it until it’s fully heated when in dry hair mode, or you will not achieve smooth, frizz-free results. I also tried it in wet hair mode, which promises wet to dry styling volumizing, and no heat damage. It left my hair very bouncy and shiny and very soft; it felt better than any salon blowout. So, I would definitely recommend the SmoothStyle. When using it in wet hair mode, I noticed much more volume versus standard blow drying. I did use styling product (specifically a dollop of leave-in conditioner, palm, and a few sprays of heat protection) when using it in the wet hair mode. It worked very well to both dry and style my hair, while polishing and leaving my hair styled. It dried my hair fast, and there was no frizz. When using in the wet hair mode, I selected the highest heat setting to start and then went down to the second heat setting, and both worked well. The lowest heat setting did not seem to get the frizz out as well for my particular hairstyle, when in the wet hair mode. When using it in wet hair mode, it is recommended to section off your hair, and I found that advice to be correct. I used a large clip and just pulled out each section, one at a time starting from the bottom and back and working my way to the top and front. Then when I was done with all the sections, I flipped my hair over as recommended, and gave one final brush through from the bottom to the top or back to the front, depending on your hairstyle. Following those instructions gave me the most volume and wave in my everyday hair style. The only con is that the unit itself is quite large and fairly heavy, and therefore a little bit difficult to manipulate. The extra cool touch handle on the top of the unit did help with that somewhat, but it is still quite heavy.

To start off, I have stick straight hair that is a little longer than shoulder length. I tried this product first in Wet Hair Mode to see how well it would work to take my just washed hair from damp to dry, and I would have to say it worked quite well in that aspect. I tried out all three temperature settings while drying my hair and followed the included styling guide (which was very helpful). My hair was completely dry in a short period of time, but it left my hair frizzy looking and very staticky. My daughter remarked that my hair looked better the way I normally dry it--with a light towel dry and letting it air dry. Next I tried it on a different day on Dry Hair Mode, to style it and smooth it out so my hair would look sleek and polished. I would say it technically worked, but honestly I get much better results from using a simple hair straightener/flat iron. My hair still turned out slightly a bit frizzy and fly-away staticky looking rather than sleek and polished. Not to mention, this thing is heavy and cumbersome! I guess I'm used to my simple flat iron which weighs a fraction of this bulky thing, but boy did I get a workout from holding this for long periods of time, the time it took to dry my hair from damp, and on the separate occasion I used it to attempt to smooth out my hair. All in all, if you have straight long hair (so I cannot attest to using this styling tool with any type of curly or coily hair) and you are looking to either simply dry your hair or just to smooth out your hair, you're better off with a simple blow dryer and flat iron.

A curly girl best friend. You an use it with your hair wet or dry and it delivers the best blow out. No need to go to a salon. This blow dryer brush does it all!

The Shark-SmoothStyle Heated Comb works amazing! For someone who has extra thick long hair it is a challenge finding a blow dryer brush that can handle my hair and give me that salon blowout at home, but I think I finally found the one!

I was skeptical about this purchase due to this was the third round hot brush I was to buy. I purchased the Revlon and L’ange brush in the past 3 months. The Revlon was easy to use, size was great and it held my hair well but it let out too much heat for my hair to handle. Needless to say it was returned and I purchased the L’ange version and it was also good but once again it let out too much heat. The Shark is great as you can reduce the heat without reducing the air flow!! Also the new technology is amazing! This one is a keeper!

Dries hair easily and with less heat. Smooth finish. Straightening function works to smooth but leaving body.

This was so good. I was worried it would be hard to use but it was not hard at al!! The styling feature has made my routine go down from an 1hr to 20 min! The amount of damage and stress I put my hair through has decreased by a lot because it’s not as harsh. Overall, I’m satisfied with my purchase
