Wireless is the way to go!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wireless is the future! I have been slowly trusting wireless devices because they are getting better, and I am happy to share that this is the case with this vacuum! The suction power in this is no joke especially when you active the boost option. It’s doing such a great job at cleaning the dog hair and I am extremely satisfied with this. The only thing I wish was a little better was the battery, but fortunately my home is only 1400 square feet so I can vacuum my whole house in one charge. Here are my scores per each feature: 5/5 – Clean Sense IQ – first experience I have with a feature like this one. I love it and it seems like it does a good job at recognizing dirty areas versus less dirty areas. 5/5 – Cordless – I didn’t think it would do a better job with suction compared to my old vacuum, but it does a better job without a doubt! 5/5 – Power – impressed me and did better than a quality cord vacuum I have that is about 2 years old. 5/5 – Built Quality – strong and durable. I just wish it came with some type of stand. 4/5 – Battery – the battery could be better. For me it works, but I can see this being an issue if you own a large 3000sqft house. Overall, 5/5 for me. I am in love with it! Thank you, Shark!!

Powerful vac even for dog hair.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall good vacuum. Battery doesn’t last long … I will have the vacuum fully charged to 100% and in 5 minutes the power percentage is only 90%. I had another cordless shark vacuum before this one and had the same problem. But this is a powerful vacuum so I’m assuming that’s why it loses battery quickly. I have a German Shepard dog and the stratos picks up the hair easily. I really love the deodorizer in this vacuum it makes it smell lovely and not musky. I also love that it’s compact and can fold and put on a shelf so it can be easily stored. The vacuum is very easy to assemble and take apart to clean. Highly recommend the vacuum just wish the battery life was better.

A full size vacuum in every way
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Shark - Stratos Cordless with Clean Sense IQ - Ash Purple This is a full size vacuum in every way. It cleans well, and comes with a useful selection of attachments. It is relatively easy to use and has a very solid build quality. The self-cleaning brushroll seems to work very well and the debris bin is easy to empty. The LED display is easy to read and informative. The LED lighting is bright and done well. The Stratos has a ton of flexibility in how you can break it down and use the attachments or tuck it away for storage. It has three operation modes from full on boost mode to eco mode. I ran it only in the default Clean Sense IQ mode and I did not install the Odor Neutralizer as I wanted to be sure it worked well without this consumable. In the Clean Sense IQ mode the vacuum claims to be sensing the debris and adjusting the suction. There is a clean indicator on the roller head that has an LED status indicator showing when the floor is clean. My house is a bit over 1,800 SqFt. I have wood floors on the bottom floor and carpets on the stairs and second story. With a full charge running in the Clean Sense IQ mode I got 37 minutes of battery life in this mixed use. In my house I am unable to do a full cleaning. I typically run out of battery with about half of the stairs left undone. I would actually rate this battery life as very good in comparison to the only other cordless vacuum in this price class that I have owned. That other vacuum is only able to do the bottom wooden floors on its battery running in its high mode. The cleaning on the Shark is far superior. But it's not all good news. The Stratos Cordless is a big heavy vacuum. I was a bit surprised at how tall and heavy this vacuum is. And that is my biggest problem. The vacuum with the standard brush head is right at 9lbs. That may not seem like much but it's heavy at the handle. And you feel this weight in your hand. On wood floors where there is not much resistance it's not too bad. But transition to carpet or a rug and you will feel it right away. This makes this a very uncomfortable vacuum to actually use. Using the included attachments can also be painful. I would not use it for any over the head cleaning or if I do, not for very long. It's just too heavy and unbalanced. And for those of a smaller stature I would stay away unless you know what you are getting into. Also Shark should include a real user manual. The quick guide is ok but you have to go to their website to download a real manual. And you will want to get one because there is a lot of missing information about how to clean and maintain this vacuum. This is a full size vacuum so if you expect a cordless to be lightweight, this vacuum is not that. Because of this I can only recommend this vacuum to those who are fine with that. Shark makes some great products and I expect it to be reliable and as a full size vacuum it does perform well. If you have a larger house you might also want to look into getting a charging adapter and spare battery.

Very Nice Cordless Vacuum
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Shark Stratos Cordless vacuum is a very capable little cordless vacuum, witch is missing one small but important feature. The Stratos is a cordless stick style vacuum with Clean Sense IQ. Clean Sense IQ is Shark's auto dirt-sensing technology, which automatically turns up the suction power when it is needed. I found that this feature actually worked really well. Anytime I would pass over parts of the floor where I could tell there was more dirt and debris, you could hear the motor turn up to really get all that dirt. I tried the Stratos on both hard floors and carpet, and it really seemed to do a great job on both surfaces. One of my favorite things to use these types of vacuums for since they are so light and maneuverable is to clean the stairs. At first, it was actually a little tough, because this particular vacuum is a little bit heavier than other stick vacuums I've used, even if only slightly. However, I realized you can take off the long stick part and place the roller head directly onto the handheld portion and have sort of a mini hand vac situation going on, which is perfect for cleaning stairs. In this configuration I was actually able to clean the stairs better than any other vacuum I have used. This alone is worth it for me. However, it's also a very capable vacuum in it's own right, not just as a mini vacuum or for small jobs. I was able to vacuum my entire carpeted upstairs on less than a full battery. That's 3 bedrooms and a loft. And I only used about half the battery. And it did a really good job, almost as good as a full sized vacuum. I'd go so far as to finally get rid of my full sized vacuum and just keep this. It can even fold down for easier storage, so it's not taking up so much space, which is always nice. However, this brings me to the one thing I think it is missing. And that is that it is not wall-mountable. They tout this as a feature or perk, saying that because it folds down there is no need to mount it. But I just find that mounting is a much more elegant solution, especially for a cordless that needs to charge. The way you charge this is just plug it in with the provided cord. There is no dock or anything. I would really have preferred something a little more permanent like a wall mounted charger, or at the very least a little base or something that stays plugged in. But having to plug it and unplug it every time just feels clunky, especially for something in this price range. This is really the only thing holding me back from giving this vacuum 5 stars. But, even with that, I would still easily recommend this vacuum. It is one of the best I've used in a long time.

Great versatile, flexible vacuum
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The vacuum came in minimal packaging which is always great, perfect not over or under packaged. Everything in the box was protected and no damage to any of the components. The packaging included a power supply, an allergy brush, extension for tight areas, and an anti allergy brush that would work perfect for window blinds or fans. The material on the allergy brush was a soft material on the bottom and mini small brushes on the side. Very clear instructions on how to put everything together. The look of the vacuum is compact and sleek. An industrial type look, pretty much a typical vacuum. It is not bulky at all but does have some weight to it, very well built and feels secure, not cheap at all. With the weight it is still surprisingly heavier than what I was expecting from the sleek look. Charging is easy, just plug in the power supply to a wall and let it charge. The dust bin is an ample size and is see-through, easy to tell how full it is and if needing to be empty, and simple enough to empty the bin. Power button for off on function and fan button for fan power are all embedded to the handle with a rubber like feel. The handle of the vacuum also houses an LCD screen. The screen is very bright with big white lettering making it easy to read. The screen displays the fan modes, and battery level displaying a percentage. I really love the fact that it makes it easy to tell where you are at and when it needs to be charged. When powered on the vacuum is not that loud, the noise level increases or decreases based on what fan mode you select. The noise is manageable and is not as annoying as other ones I’ve heard, and my dogs are not that startled by the sound. The base of the vacuum is the wheelbase with the roller bushes to pick up trash and on top of the wheelbase is an odor neutralizer dial with positive and negative options with degrees in between. The vacuum does an incredible job at picking up trash on both hardwood and carpet. The ease of pick up is really noticeable on hardwood floors with me only having to do one pass to pick up trash. It’s easy of glide over the trash and suction makes cleaning the hardwood floors a lot easier. One small bit of a con is that I have not been able to get the vacuum to sand on its own. I’ve had to lean it against something to keep it upright. It is kind of expected though since it's a stick style vacuum. The top part of the vacuum is heavy and when sitting it on the base the top part leans over. The wheels are super responsive and easy to redirect the direction of the vacuum, there’s not much resistance and makes it easy when trying to go around corners or edges. Halfway down the vacuum stick is a knob joint where the stick can flex to make it easy to go under a table or sofa to get to the hard to reach areas. This is the best part of the vacuum to me, you're not compromising or having to move everything around to get to the bottom of the table, or end tables, coffee tables or what not. As well as an option to flex for storage. Despite the one con, this has to be my favorite vacuum, the hum not being loud and the flex option for getting down under hard to reach areas, and incredible suction makes it a great vacuum for both types of flooring.

Lightweight super flexible and cleans great
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Out of the box the Stratos was easy to setup and battery had a partial charge. The included quick start guide has the barest of minimum instructions for setting up the unit. For most other usage related instructions, you will want to download the Owners Guide. There is a QR code attached to the unit that you can scan which will open a web browser to the link for the guide. It is downloaded as a PDF that has multiple manual pages per actual page. Instead of using a mobile device where the manual is kind of hard to read, I’d recommend downloading on a PC with a larger screen. The unit cleans well and is super maneuverable, especially without a cord. I was able to sweep in tight areas that a regular upright vacuum cannot easily get to. The tradeoff for this is a rather smallish floor nozzle that you probably would not want to use for really large rooms or areas. Emptying the dust cup is easy. Just be aware that the button on the side opens the trapdoor on the bottom to empty and does not remove the cup from the unit so be sure to hold it over a trash can. Removal of the cup is a different button on the bottom. Not sure what the “odor neutralizer technology” is but the cartridge provides a nice clean air-freshener smell. Have not had the unit long enough for the scent to wear off so I cannot say how long a cartridge will last. I really like the flexibility of the unit. You can plug the motor unit directly into the floor nozzle which is great for things like stairs or upholstery. The multi-flex wand is great for getting under things and you will need to bend it all the way over for storage, otherwise it is top heavy and will easily fall over. There are several modes to operate the unit in. Eco, Clean Sense IQ, and Boost. Clean Sense is the default setting and will adjust the motor and brush speed according to the detected amount of dirt being picked up. It takes a little bit to get used to as the motor slows down at times which at first made me think the battery was running low when it really was not. The battery charges up quick with the included wall charger and I found the runtime to be fairly true to what is shown in the manual. The LED will also change colors to indicate how much the battery has been charged. The display on the handle also tells you the charge amount in a percentage value when using it. The included duster crevice tool and multi-angle dusting brush plug directly into the bottom of the handheld motor unit and are handy. Only down-side is there is no where to store with the unit so misplacing them is somewhat of a concern.

Nice features but not perfect
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Works well on floor and carpet. Easy to empty. Two nice attachments allow it to be used more like a handheld. The documentation claims that it stands on it own and does not require a wall hook but it is quite wobbly as the drive unit can easily tip the upright unit. I appreciate the attempt to innovate and the dual articulating feature is excellent. A second joint is along the mid shaft and allows you to vacuum under furniture or a bed easily while standing. This can quickly be activated and also restored to full standing mode. The cleaning unit does well with floor and carpet and does not seem to have much of an issue with hair (as other units need to be unclogged more often). There is no HEPA filtration but emissions are not extreme. There is a clean sense function that varies power and suction based on how clean the floor or carpet is sensed to be. This is clever and mainly present to extend battery life. This is difficult to test but it does seem quite responsive. Motion is not perfect as the unit is fairly light. A feature I did not test is the odor neutralization pod. This is basically infusion of an air freshener. These chemical can cause irritation or allergic reactions in many individuals and in our house these are never used. I am overall quite annoyed when even nicer hotels attempt to cover smells and sibilate clean with chemical such as these.

This vacuum kicks (hairy) butt!!!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. In a house with 3 cats and a dog, and 2 long haired people, the carpet in my basement is impossible to keep hair free. I had a Dyson that was supposed to pick up hair (same theory as this one) but I would have to go over a spot a few gazillion times. I even vacuumed half my floor and stairs with my old Dyson (battery died after 20 minutes) then used my new vacuum and was able to vacuum the entire floor and stairs. I had to empty the cup twice! So, my vacuum fresh out of the box showed an 80% charge. I charged it up and set out to vacuum. The charge lasted longer than I had carpet so I used it everywhere else. I loved the little display that told me when I was very low on battery. It also ramps up power when I hit a very furry spot on the carpet to ensure the extra strength. The attachments are perfect to reach the cobwebs on my high ceilings and especially under the fridge and freezer, and under the washer and dryer. It is heavy so on a floor its fine, but the stairs may be difficult for some. I would highly recommend this to any pet owner that is inundated with pet hair!!

Small but mighty
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great lightweight but powerful little stick vac. I have had several and still own 3 shark vacs. Love them all. This vac makes cleaning my stairs a breeze. My back issues make it hard to use full size vac so i decided to pick up this one. I am impressed at the power and the amount of dirt it actually picks up.

Makes Vacuuming Easy!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When I told my husband that I was getting the Shark® – IZ862H Stratos™ Clean Sense IQ, Cordless MultiFLEX® Vacuum with DuoClean® PowerFins™, HairPro™, Clean Sense IQ, and Odor Neutralizer Technology, he said, “What? Another vacuum cleaner?” We do have several vacuum cleaners. I told him that this was different. This was going to be our first full-sized, cordless vacuum that could double as a handheld with attachments, and had a HEPA filter. We love our little cordless handhelds, which are great for quick clean-ups. But we end up using them for much more than they were meant to do, like vacuuming the whole kitchen floor. It is kind of stupid to be bending over and sweeping back and forth with a little handheld, just because you don’t want to drag out the clunky, corded, ‘big’ vacuum cleaner (even though it does a much better job). So, when the Stratos arrived, I couldn’t wait to get it out of the box and plug in the charger to charge the vacuum’s large lithium battery. I assumed (correctly) that the battery takes a few hours to fully charge, so in the meantime, I got out the Quick Start Guide and laid out the components, which consist of the Handheld Vacuum, the Removeable Lithium Battery, the MultiFLEX Wand, the DuoClean PowerFins Floor Nozzle, and the accessories, which consist of the Li-ion Charger, the Odor Neutralizer Technology Cartridge, a Duster Crevice Tool and a Multi-Angle Dusting Brush. I immediately plugged the charger into the battery and plugged the charger into a wall outlet. The Quick Start Guide is very brief, so I scanned the QR code at the top of the Quick Start Guide page to get the URL (web address) where the full Owner’s Guide is located and downloaded it. I then proceeded to setup the unit by inserting the Wand securely into the Floor Nozzle and then inserted the Handheld Vacuum into the top of the Wand, ensuring a tight fit. As per instructions, I removed the Odor Neutralizer Cartridge from its packaging, flipped up its dial handle and aligned the teal-colored arrow on cartridge with the matching teal arrow on the Floor Nozzle and inserted it into the receptacle and rotated until it clicked and engaged. You can rotate the cartridge to change the intensity of the fragrance. Put together, the unit is very sleek, attractive and thoughtfully designed. The parts fit extremely well. The overall weight of the assembled unit is easily managed. Finally, the battery was fully charged. I clicked it into its receptacle on the back of the Handheld Vacuum and excitedly pressed the power button. The Stratos started, sounding powerful, but not too loud. There are three settings, which you can change with the ‘propeller” button at the top of the unit – ECO, Clean Sense IQ, and Boost. It defaults to Clean Sense IQ and that is the setting on which I left it. I started in our combination Living Room / Dining Room. The Stratos did a great job on our carpet. The Clean Sense IQ function worked well, adding more power when ‘heavy’ dirt was encountered, which you can see visually on the display on the top of the DuoClean Floor nozzle. I was so pleased to find that with the low profile of the DuoClean Floor Nozzle and the flexibility of the MultiFLEX Wand, I was easily able to get under the low opening of our couch and all the way to the back. Also, I didn’t have to move all the furniture at the dining room table, because I had no problem vacuuming under the the low bars of our dining room chairs, saving me much heavy work. The swivel of the DuoClean floor nozzle also allowed me to go around the tight corners of the table’s legs with ease. By the time I was done with that large area, I had only used 10% of total battery power and was at 90%. So then, I did the foyer and the kitchen, which brought it down to 80%. Then I decided to remove the Handheld Vacuum from the unit and inserted the Multi-Angle Dusting Brush for some dusting. This brush attachment is my dream design. It covers a relatively large, flat surface area, but with a narrow, very low profile and very soft brushes. It is perfect for getting under low profile items such as the openings at the base of my table lamps and getting under the TV’s to those previously unreachable areas. The attachment also swivels, so it makes it very easy to get around items that previously had to picked up and moved out of the way. I am in love with this brush! After dusting all the top and bottom shelves of my two end tables and of my sofa table, and dusting my Living Room TV stand, my fireplace mantle, my Dining Room sideboard and table, I proceeded to vacuum the whole outer stringer of my staircase. The battery was still only down to 60%, but by now, the Dust Cup was very full. My husband, who was thrilled that I was so excited about using the Stratos, volunteered to empty the Dust Cup. It took a minute to remove the Dust Cup from the Handheld Vacuum and then find the Release Button. He placed the relatively small, lightweight Dust Cup deep into the waste can and released its contents. He gently tapped the Cup to remove any excess dust that lingered and then carefully snapped the bottom door shut, being careful not to lose the Pre-Motor Foam and Felt Filters on the top of the Dust Cup. He felt that emptying the Cup was as easy as pie, but he would still prefer to have a replaceable, disposable filter bag, though this is much more ECO friendly. After replacing the Dust Cup, since I still had plenty of battery power left, I went downstairs to the family room and dusted every flat surface there and then plugged the Handheld back into the Wand with the Floor Nozzle and did the floors. After all of that, the battery still had 20% power left. I felt that was enough for the day and emptied the Dust Cup again, removed the battery and plugged it in to charge. I had completely vacuumed the floors on two of three stories of our 2100 square foot townhouse and dusted all the flat surfaces of the furniture, without depleting the unit’s battery! The Stratos had done an excellent job and with its cleverly designed components, had saved me much time and work by not having to move everything. I absolutely love this vacuum cleaner! My only issue is the overwhelming scent of the Odor Neutralizing Cartridge, even though I have it at the lowest setting. It is the only thing that I don’t care for on this vacuum cleaner. This is not a dealbreaker to me, as it is simple to remove the Cartridge and work without it. I can see that it would be desirable to someone with a pet or minor water damage to a rug. All-in-all, the Shark - Stratos Cordless Vacuum Cleaner with Clean Sense IQ is a great-functioning, well-designed, multi-use vacuum cleaner that I would suggest to anyone.

Shark for the Win
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my third Shark vacuum but my first cordless model and I have to say I am just as impressed with this as I was with my previous corded model. The Stratos comes with one battery which had a partial charge out of the box and required charging before my first use. The battery is rated for 60 minutes however, this is measured using as a hand vac in “eco” mode. I found using the brush roll in “Clean Sense IQ” mode which is the default, I averaged about 30-40 minutes of actual run time which was more than enough to clean my home. There is a digital display on the handle that shows the battery level. For the price though, I would have liked to see a second battery. The Stratos has three modes, Eco, Clean Sense IQ and boost. I have to say while it's been effective, the Clean Sense mode is a bit disconcerting as it continuously adjusts the vacuum speed while you are using it. You can see via a light strip on the brush head how much dirt the unit is sensing as you are cleaning. I’ve noticed with frequent use this does level out a bit from the first time I used it to clean with. The Eco mode worked well on my hardwood floors while still easily picking up wafts of dog hair. I really like the two brush roll system Shark has been using for a while now. The Stratos has a self-cleaning system that keeps the brushes from getting clogged with hair and I can say with three shedding dogs, it works great. I also like that you don't get the snow plowing when picking up larger piles of debris, it just pulls it in and sucks it up. The brush head has LED headlights that work well for seeing under furniture which is easily accomplished by the flexible wand. The airflow (suction) of the Stratos is excellent, even in Eco mode - picking up everything. I also like the odor neutralizer feature which is a small scent cartridge on the brush head. You can adjust the strength of the scent and I find that even on the lowest setting it adds a nice amount and isn't overpowering like some deodorizers can be. Like most if not all new vacuum cleaners, the Stratos is bagless. The dust cup is easy to empty - just remove the brush head wand and press the lever to open it. The conical shape of the metal filter inside allows the hair to slide off easily and I didnt have to put my hands in the cup to get it totally empty like my older Shark. There are three reusable filters as well. The Stratos comes with two attachments, a crevice tool with the sliding brush and dusting brush allowing it to be used like a giant dust buster. It works well. Overall I like the Shark Stratos Cordless, I think it stands up to it’s more expensive competition and would recommend it.

Love this Shark! Would highly recommend.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Battery life much longer than old Shark. Great suction. Like the fact that I don't have to change settings to go from tile to carpet; it does it automatically. Easy to empty the canister and LOVE that it no longer has a roller for hair & debris to get wrapped around! Great upgrade for Shark! Love how the battery quickly removes so it can be charged anywhere in the house.

Good little vac!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Shark Stratos is a very flexible vacuum cleaner and I LOVE not dragging a cord around! The vacuum came nicely packaged with a quick start guide that allowed me to assemble the vacuum quickly. I was a little bummed that I had to fully charge the battery before I could use the unit. But once charged the vacuum seemed to pick up dirt and debris quite well, and the smart sense could be heard increasing and decreasing the power of the vacuum based on the level of "dirtiness" it was encountering at the time. This is an excellent feature in a cordless vacuum cleaner, as it enhances battery life. Other things I like about the vacuum are the assortment of attachments included, the ability to use it as either an upright or a hand vac by simply swapping accessories, and the way with which the dust bin can be emptied at the push of a button. Unfortunately, the location of the button resulted in the spilling of the dust bin on a rug when swapping accessories, but I think I'll get used to the button location and that won't happen much in the future. The only thing I really don't like about the vacuum is the odor neutralizer pod that installs in the powerhead. The pod smells worse than any odor I might be trying to neutralize and gave both my wife and I a slight headache. Fortunately, it seems the vacuum will operate just fine without the cartridge installed. I love the versatility of this vacuum, and the speed with which I can get things done due to the lack of a cord.

Powerful Cordless Vacuum
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is on very powerful battery operated vacuum cleaner. Is light and being cordless so easy to maneuver around our house. The battery seems to last pretty good and like that you can have the machine automatically increase the power needed to vacuum the floor. We use it on our tile floors, our rugs in different rooms and also the carpet. This vacuum works very good in all of those items. Have found the vacuum is easy to empty and you can see the canister getting full. Also like the percentage indicator showing how much battery is left before recharge is need. The storage is a breeze as the vacuum can be folded for less space needed when not in use. We also use it on our furniture bye removing the canister from the main unit and use the items provided to do this task. The vacuum does a decent job in this area. Can also be used in vehicles to vacuum the carpets and seats and is very handy for this task. The tools provided work really good in a vehicle. This vacuum is easy to charge and I am glad we bought this for our house and vehicles needs
