Customers are saying
Customers commend the Vertex UltraLight DuoClean PowerFins Corded Stick Vacuum's powerful suction, lightweight design, and ease of use. Many appreciate its long cord and effective carpet cleaning capabilities, while some find the noise level and dustbin size to be drawbacks. The vacuum's performance and convenient storage are also frequently praised. However, a few users reported issues with overheating and the vacuum's inability to stand upright on its own.

Annoying
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It doesn’t stay upright. I returned it because you have to lean it on something or if you stop vacuuming or it just falls over

Powerful Ultralight
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Shark Vertex corded ultralight is a well built and attractive looking vacuum with loads of nice features. First of all I love the Shark duoclean technology which includes 2 rollers. The first is a soft roller which does an amazing job of cleaning the floor with truly an almost polished look. It does a great job of picking up dust that a regular brush would simply leave behind. The second roller is what Shark calls the PowerFins roller which makes constant contact with your floor with a combination of small brushes and soft fins and wrap the length of the roller. You can hear this roller in action as it almost sounds like it somewhat beats your carpet or rug while you vacuum effectively loosening particles. The rollers are also self cleaning so hair or put fur doesn’t get wrapped around the rollers like a regular brush. In the box with the Vertex are 3 attachments including a crevice tool, a dusting brush, and the self cleaning pet power brush. The pet power brush is very similar in design to the PowerFins roller. Just smaller but equally effective. I’m glad it was included since I do have pets. There are really 4 configurations to use the Shark Vertex. The regular upright mode. The above floor reach mode using the tube and attachments. The handheld mode with no tube and just attachments. Then there is the stair cleaning mode where you can remove the tube and attach the handheld part of the vacuum directly to the duoclean base. It’s like a lightweight condensed mini vacuum mode to easily maneuver up and down stairs as you clean them. I love this flexibility because to clean effectively you can’t really just use one tool in one configuration. I love the power of the unit too. It really cleans. You can hear and see the power in action. I like the size of this ultralight too. It is very convenient for getting around and under furniture. The LED headlamps make it easy to see what you’re doing too. There are two floor type settings. When you turn on the Vertex the vacuum it is always in bare floor mode which is a slower roller speed mode and there is a button to change it to carpet mode which really increases the power and roller speed to more effectively clean deep down. I like this ability to switch between floor types. I must say there is one design choice that I find awkward. The Vertex cannot stand upright when not in use so if you need to pause while vacuuming you have to lay the vacuum down. This presents an additional issue when storing the vacuum. Since it doesn’t stand when you store the Vertex you must disassemble the handheld part of the vacuum from the tube. You then hang the handheld part on a small hook on the front of the tube. It’s kind of weird and awkward but I suppose it does allow for storage in smaller spaces. I would also point out that the dust cup is on the small side and is a bit confusing to connect back onto the Vertex. Maybe over time I’ll find it less puzzling. I think I can live with these few issues so I would recommend the Shark Vertex.

Don't buy it.
||Posted . Owned for 11 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not even one year old and I was noticing that the dirt was getting pushed along and not suctioned. After sometime the vacuum got louder and was screaming in my ear, but was barely picking up dirt. I would not recommend it.

Top heavy
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It is top heavy so you would have lean it against a wall and there are no hook holes or latch or anything like that to hang it on the wall

Save your money
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The light weight is the only thing pro about this item. There is alway dirt left behind. Dirt falls oit of bottom when not in use. The container requires alot of emptying (3-4 times a use). Not for pet owners. Over priced for what it does.

This is a great Vacuum!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. From the simple packaging that includes quick assembly instructions on the box flaps, to the complement of included tools, this is one powerful well engineered vacuum. You can use it as a handheld vacuum with the crevice tool, the dusting brush, the powered brush for furniture, or the powered floor brush on your stairs. Add the extension wand and it becomes a powerful vacuum for carpets, hardwoods, or tile. Or use the crevice tool or dusting brush with the extension wand for over your head cleaning. And all this is being done with the included attachments. Well done Shark. The power is very good and it’s not real noisy. Yes, it makes some noise, but not nearly as bad as some other vacuums I love the 30 foot cord! It lets you get around without having to plug in to different outlets all the time. The LED headlights on the floor unit are perfect! Bright, well placed, and useful! Does it wrap up hair on the brush rollers? Absolutely no! Does it pick up dirt and hair? Absolutely yes! The design of the rollers is excellent and they do pick up dirt quickly and on the first pass on both carpets and bare floors. On carpet, the rollers will tend to self-propel the vacuum away from you. Reminds me of some of the early self-propelled vacuums, but still easy to control. It actually makes vacuuming easier as the unit will pull ahead and you simply just pull back for the next sweep. I actually like it. The power button and the floor selection button are well placed on the top end of the motor power unit. They are easy to use and you can make changes as you travel from carpet to floors of vice versa. The unit is top heavy when attached to the extension and using the floor nozzle. The weight of the motor will topple the unit to the floor. You will need to lean it against a piece of furniture or in a corner if you don’t just lay it down on the floor. I’ve used the unit for about a week on 3 different occasions. I find it easy to use, powerful, and fast. For a stick vacuum, I’m impressed with the power and its ability to pick up all sizes of dirt off carpets and floors. Pick up near baseboards and edges are very good. Much better than expected! And finally, It doesn’t seem to suck up throw rugs and mats in to the brush rollers near as bad as other vacuums I have used. Overall, I really like this unit and its accessories. I would recommend this to a friend. PROS: 30 ft cord, bright LED headlights, versatile for carpets and floors, great suction power, easy to switch to different tools, great for stairs, easy to empty the dirt cup, tools can be carried on the vacuum, not real noisy, 5 year warranty CONS: Won’t stand up on its own with the floor brush, dirt cup will need to be emptied after each use.

Poor Design
||Posted . Shark
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It was super loud. It hurt my ears as I was vacuuming. Not sure why. It was brand new first time I used it. Checked to make sure there was nothing stuck inside the motor but I didn't see anything.

NOT FOR A FAMILY
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was not impressed. Ive used several shark vacuums before. I tried this one for about a week and took it back to the store. Its not good with kids or pets. Its design seems to be intended for light use. The dirt cup does not hold anything more than a cup or less. I tried to vacuum the carpets with this and could go over the carpet 3 times and only get a small amount in the dirt cup. Then I could use the shark apex go over the same area and pick up 2 dirt containers worth of dog hair and crumbs.... this just doesn't have the suction needed for a busy household. I can see where it might be great for an elderly person who can't use a regular vacuum but not for a family. I would compare this one to the old floor brooms that they used at a movie theater to get pop corn (the ones that did not plug in)

Disappointed with the design
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This vacuum cleaner was very top heavy since the motor in on top, it gave me a bruise on my hand around my thumb when swiveling to vacuum around corners. This style does not stand up you have to lean it against something when moving furniture.

Great vacuum for hard floors!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is an excellent vacuum for hard floors! Our new house has all hard floors downstairs and with two cats the hair tends to build up in various places. This Shark stick vacuum makes it easy to clean up and is a great alternative to sweeping or getting out the big vacuum. The attachments work great especially if you have pets. It is also easy to empty the debris chamber. Storing the vacuum is great too. There is a notch on the larger part of the vacuum that attaches to the base so it takes up less space. Pick this vacuum up if you are looking for a smaller vacuum to take care of those big jobs!

Was good till it wasn’t
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Super good at sucking up everything on hard wood floors and carpet but after owning it for a year it over heafed and stopped working. I always cleaned filters when needed and cleaned out bin after each use and it still decided to stop working. So disappointed.

Not good
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought it because all the positive reviews and it seemed it would be good for picking up dog hair(I have a very fluffy golden retriever). All it did was push the hair around the floor. It didn’t pick up any pet hair off the carpet and hardly picked up any dirty. Best Buy says they have a 15 day return policy. I didn’t use it right away so I missed the return window on it. I called directly to the manufacturer for assistance and they were not helpful. Basically telling me how to check for clogs which I already did that and it didn’t fix the problem. I will say it’s ok for hardfloors. It didn’t pick up the hair on my area rugs either. Now I’m stuck with this. :(

On/Off Issues
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’m not exactly sure how many stars to give this because it runs great and does a pretty impressive job at what it’s made for. However, one thing that is becoming a factor in going for Dyson is that ever since I got it, there's been an intermittent pattern of the vacuum not turning on unless the power button is either pressed a bunch of times until it turns on or I have to press it ridiculously hard.
