Customers commend the Vertex UltraLight DuoClean PowerFins Corded Stick Vacuum's powerful suction, lightweight design, and ease of use. Many appreciate its long cord and effective carpet cleaning capabilities, while some find the noise level and dustbin size to be drawbacks. Powerful vac, but top heavy...

This new Shark vac has excellent suction, and its versatile low profile makes it easy to vacuum under beds and some furniture. The main suction unit easily detaches to make it a powerful handheld vacuum for use on stairs, tight spaces, furniture, blinds, etc. Does a great job picking up pet hair and general dirt and other mess. The bright LED light makes it easy to spot dirt. There are a couple of compromises, however. First, the capture bin is quite small, so expect to empty it more often, It’s easy enough to empty the bin, so not a big deal. The bigger compromise is ease of overall use. The main vacuum mechanism sits on top of the assembly, which the bottom part cannot support in an upright position. Plus the power cord comes out of the top. So, there is no way, when you are done vacuuming or want to empty the bin, to stand the whole unit up like you do most vacuums. Rather, you must lay the whole vacuum down or detach the main vacuum unit. For storage, you will also need to remove the vacuum unit and hang it from an obscure hook on the bottom of the assembly. Combined with the small bin, you end up laying the vacuum down and/or removing the head to empty the bin quite often. So, this vacuum has excellent power and is versatile. Just be ready for a good bit of extra effort if you use it as a daily vac.

Probably the worst purchase I’ve ever made. Every time I use it, I have to turn it off, unplug it, take it apart, unclog it, rinse and repeat. It is the most delicate vacuum cleaner I have ever owned and cannot seem to handle anything.

    FANTASTIC VACUUM - POWERFUL!

The Shark® Vertex™ UltraLight™ DuoClean® PowerFins Corded Stick Vacuum is FANTASTIC! I own (or have owned) a couple "stick" vacuums, and while they're handy to use because they're light-weight, they're never for all-over cleaning because they just don't have the power. NOT TRUE with this Stick Vacuum from SHARK. We were extremely impressed with the POWER this little unit has ... more than any that I've ever tried. It's even better - power-wise - than my built-in whole home vacuum system! WOW, it's really great. The unit was well-packed in it's box. Out of the box, all the pieces were individually wrapped. I didn't need to look at the "instructions" to put the unit together because it was "intuitive" and everything snapped together easily and quickly. I like the additional attachments that come standard with the SHARK too. We have a large dog, that while short-haired and usually doesn't shed, she's going through a major shedding period right now. Hair gets stuck in the little crevices at the bottom of the baseboards. The SHARK has such fantastic suction power, that in 1 pass, it cleaned all the hair in the little crevices. WE WERE IMPRESSED! I have a white area rug that was "looking dingy" and after the SHARK was done cleaning, it was white again. I think our ONLY complaint about the unit is that it's waste bin is too small. On the white area rug alone, we had to dump the waste bin 3 times! So while that was a nuisance, it just shows how well the SHARK sucks all the hair out of carpet. GREAT STICK VACUUM! SHARK has a winner with this product and I'd recommend to anyone looking for a powerful, lightweight vacuum!

Worst vacuum I've ever owned, lied to buy a Best buy employee saying I had a 30-day return policy, it's too tall, uncomfortable to use, and I cannot remove the hand vacuum at all. It's stuck there. I've tried to use it to get used to it, and yes it cleans but it sucks on all accounts. I'm stuck with a vacuum that is just incredibly difficult to use and didn't live up to it's promise. I've watched YouTube videos to remove it, and you should just be able to push the button and lift.... Well no. So if you're tall and don't need the hand vacuum.... It's for you

We received this vacuum to replace an aging Kirby that was probably in need of repairs. While I had replaced a few parts on the Kirby to get it working better it still wasn't at 100%. So when I had the chance to try this Shark Vortex Ultralight vacuum cleaner I wanted to give it a shot! I love how lightweight the vacuum is! Usually after only a few minutes of using a vacuum cleaner I begin to get back pain from having to push a not light but not super heavy vacuum cleaner. With this one I didn't experience that. I vacuumed every room & floor in our home-no pain! That is a win for this mid 30s dad! I also noticed how it seemed to clean much better than our old Kirby. Even after using the Kirby I would have dust bunnies still under the edge of the beds so it is like it wasn't picking it up very well. So I tested with this vacuum and poof! They were gone! I used to hate walking around the house barefoot but after using this vacuum I did and I didn't feel like my feet were dirty! Another win! All in all I am very happy with this vacuum. I have found my new go to for vacuum cleaner makers. My mom is needing a new vacuum (again, replacing an old Kirby) so I am going to be looking at the Shark brands this holiday season for her. We are only about 99 days away from Christmas so I am going to be getting her one soon to ensure we can get her one. Verdict: Buy one! Buy one now! You will be happy that you did!

I have been using sharks for a while now and this was my 3rd one. It worked great out of the box but after a couple of months, it is terrible. The handle gets extremely hot. Even after cleaning every piece of it, the suction only works half the time, the other half it traps the junk in the tube...which then spills out once you turn the vacuum off. Its being donated to the alley and replaced temporarily by a old fashioned broom.

The Shark Ultralight Vacuum with Duo-Clean Power-Fins is a mean machine. Easy setup out the box, with one click of function operation of tile or carpet and you are ready to vacuum with the self cleaning brushroll. The extra accessories such as the crevice tool, pet power brush and the hand vac conversion makes for many uses that fullfills desired cleaning method. You can tell that the Shark Stick Vacuum cleaning suction is working by the deep grooves in the carpet. You can go from livingroom carpet power-fins to tile floor soft roller for time saver duo-cleaning. Love the self cleaning brushroll with its amazing suction power for no detangling hair. The Shark Vacuum manuvers like a champ around and under furniture with the headlights leading the way. The extra cord lenth is added convenience. The Shark Ultralight Duo-Clean Power-Fins does a heavyweight performance.

About a month after purchase, the motor shorted out spontaneously, smoke and sparks started shooting out. Lucky the house didnt burn because I was able to trip the corcuit breaker and stop it. I had a Shark model that lasted almost 8 years and still kind of works. This model was garbage. Dont buy.

Considering this is a stick vacuum, I was impressed by the abilities of the Shark Vertex UltraLight DuoClean PowerFins Corded Stick Vacuum with Self-Cleaning Brushroll. This is the first stick vacuum I have used. Growing up my parents always chose to have either upright or cannister vacuum. I have had a heavy-duty pet/allergen upright vacuum prior to this, and the stick vacuum is a fresh switch-up. Overall, this vacuum does deliver as a vacuum. First pass pickup of most visible dirt, hair, or dust bunnies grabs almost everything and within two passes I felt the floor to be adequately vacuumed for normal household cleaning. I did not bright myself to intentionally drop anything to be vacuumed for ultimate product testing, but I am sure that day will come. Unboxing and “assembly” of the vacuum was very straight forward and quick. The pieces to the vacuum (wand, floor nozzle, and handheld vacuum) click together nicely and there are very distinguishable buttons to press for disassembly. I felt this to be an important aspect to note, as part of the vacuums design includes taking the handheld vacuum off from the wand for storage. This is a quick process to do; however, I was not a fan of the cord management. Having the cord directly attached to the handheld vacuum is great for independent use, but when it came to storage there was just an awkward aspect between storing along the wand and docking the handheld vacuum. Also included in this package are the accessories of a crevice tool, dusting brush, self-cleaning pet power brush, and onboard storage clip. There are more listed accessories in the manual, which does state not all models carry all accessories (as in this case). The use is straight forward. On the handheld vacuum is a power button and then a trigger for switching floor type between bare floor and carpet; there is an indicator light to show which one is currently active. There is a visibly added speed in the brush roll spin when in carpet mode. The first time I went to power the vacuum on, I was on top of a bathroom rug and it failed to properly turn on. I could tell it had failed by a red indicator light and the brush roll not spinning properly. After turning the power off and back on, all was working properly and there was a green indicator light along with brush roll spinning. The biggest “feature” that drew me to this vacuum is the claim of “no hair wrap”. This is advertised and placed in multiple places on the box. My wife and cat, both produce an insane amount of hair around the house, that almost seems amplified as most of the flooring is hardwood. Hair wrapping is something I had not encountered prior to married life, but boy it is absolutely a dreadful. And well, I’ve yet to be able to successfully clog the brush roll with a hair wrap. I intentionally went for large areas of dust/hair balls. With the floor nozzle I went over multiple areas of wife hair balls, cat hair balls, and dust balls (I had been collecting these in the corners of the house) and two major notes. First, in the corners I could manipulate the floor nozzle easily to clean these spaces and second, after going through a few rooms hunting these balls, I had not succumbed to any major hair wrap. I had managed to get two strands of my wife’s hair wrapped around, but nothing substantial and much more impressive than I am accustomed to. I then wanted to further this claim suing the self-cleaning pet power brush. There is no energy connection to the brush head attachment, so I was impressed with spinning and suction ability through the handheld vacuum. I took this handheld vacuum to my cat’s favorite Lazy-boy style chair and went at it. I saw the layer of cat hair get removed. This process did take a few passes, for sure to relieve the hair from the chair upholstery; however, the brush was successful… and no hair wrap. So, in my opinion one of their largest claims of “no hair wrap”, has currently survived the first round of house cleaning. Emptying the handheld vacuum is simple. There are indicator tabs to press to release the dust cup and then emptying the dust cup is easy after pressing that empty button. The process was streamline. There are however three areas of the vacuum where I felt there were slight disappointments. These include the ultralight claim, overall use, and storage. This vacuum has ultralight in the name, and maybe I was just naive to think but the “ultralight” 3-pound aspect of this applies only the handheld vacuum. This is what is stated, but when I thought about 3-pounds I was thinking the whole floor nozzle, wand, and handheld vacuum would weigh this. The whole assembly was slightly under 10-pounds which is still light, and the handheld vacuum portion is alone around 3-pounds according to my floor scale. This is fine, just my own issue with assumptions; but this is not a magic feather LOL. The 10-pounds is still quite acceptable for lightweight; however, since you are powering this around it would be difficult to do a house clean without getting quite fatigued (I did!). Besides this, while using the handheld vacuum it does create quite the warm air cloud around this. Since the motor is up by one’s hand, this style vacuum is prone to make you hot. I am in Florida, where it is difficult to keep a house below 80F right now during the days and I was HOT using this vacuum from the heat blowing out of it. A minor detail, but if you hate being hot a handheld vacuum may just not be the fit for you. Finally, storage disappointed me in that the handheld vacuum must be dispatched and docked for the whole assembly to not fall over. This is fine when storing, but if you go to move an object you cannot just leave the vacuum; it needs to be placed up against something or it will fall. These are minor caveats, mainly ones I am not accustomed to with this vacuum style but wanted to make people be aware of them. Overall, like I stated at the beginning, for the style of this vacuum and the claims that it makes I was impressed. There were aspects that caused me to be a little hesitant to love the vacuum; however, it does live up to the claims it makes and it was able to sufficiently vacuum the tasks I threw at it.

I was actually excited and curious about trying out my new Shark stick vacuum. I must say that I've been pretty loyal to "another brand" when it comes to vacuums, which sparked my curiosity about how this Shark would perform. This is a powerful stick vacuum. It seems much more powerful than my cordless stick vacuum; I suspect that's because this one has constant power from being plugged in. I do like the freedom of being cord-free, but this Shark shows that being plugged in provides more sucking power. We have carpet and hardwood floors and I love how easy it is to switch from one floor type to the other. We also have 2 dogs, one of which is a Golden Retriever with longer fur. The PowerFins on the cleaning roll really do prevent hair from getting wrapped up in there. I really appreciate this feature because with my other vacuums, I feel like I'm having to cut off all the hair that gets wrapped up on the rolls. Speaking of dog hair, the self-cleaning pet power brush was perfect for cleaning all the dog hair out of my car. I have mesh seat covers on my back seats and the dog hair really gets stuck in there. This was no challenge for the pet power brush. It was the first time that I was able to actually vacuum up all the pet hair and NOT have to use a tape roll to get the rest. Now for one feature that could use some revamping... the dust collection bin. This stick vac is so powerful and efficient that dust bin fills up VERY quickly. Especially if you have pets. It would have been nice if they could have made the bin a bit larger so you don't have to empty it so frequently. The other thing I found a bit awkward was emptying the bin. It is not something you can do with one hand. The actual cup part of the bin is on a hinge from the "frame" part of it. In trying to empty the bin into the trash, the cup falls towards the way it closes. Thus, you need to hold the dust bin with both hands so it doesn't close while you're trying to empty it. With this stick vacuum, you already anticipate that you're trading off the convenience of cordless with the power from corded. What you don't expect is added inconvenience from the dust bin. That is the only reason why I'd suggest comparing this with other stick vacuums to see if they may be just as powerful, but with a better dust bin design.
