    Wifi connection- constantly dropping

My Roku TV started losing its WiFi connection sometime after I bought it in November 2017. It would drop in the middle of streaming- see pictures. When the connection would be lost, you weren't able to setup the connection again as no network could be found at all. In order to fix this, you had to either go into advance settings on the TV and reset it, or physically unplug the TV from the wall. Doing this allowed networks to be found again and then you were able to reconnect to your WiFi. Annoying if you have to do this each time you're streaming something. I blamed this issue originally on my terrible internet service through Century Link initially. I unfortunately wasted too much time trying to diagnose this problem through Century Link all the while not know it was my TV causing the issue. Being at my wits end, I contacted Sharp in November 2018 at the 1 year mark (big surprise right?), who then told us to contact the business where we bought the TV, which lead to Geek Squad coming to our house and replacing the WiFi card. Unfortunately this did not fix the problem. The tech then recommended we switch internet providers to continue to diagnose the problem, and we did. Still didn't fix the problem. Mind you, these Geek Squad visits were being honored under our 1-year Sharp warranty which was fantastic on Geek Squad's part as when I reported the problem, it was just slightly past the one year mark. Though I did get told by my tech that after my third visit that I would be eligible for a gift card as that's their policy if they can't fix it. I'm sure you can guess that I'm not getting a gift card as they were willing to cover parts and my visits, but since I did not have a Protection Plan, they're not replacing or exchanging the TV. Geek Squad's latest suggestions were for me to buy ANOTHER Roku product, a Roku box(?), so that I can plug that into my TV and router, and enjoy the Roku experience as I was supposed to all along. Apparently it takes two Roku products to make one terrible Sharp product run well. They also suggested that perhaps my router is too close to my TV, and I should try moving it further away. These suggestions came from a different tech that didn't the WiFi card replacement, as he said a connection issue would never been a hardware issue but software. Which is it?? I will note an additional point of frustration- why was this TV not made with an Ethernet port? I'm not sure if having that would have solved my problem, but since a TV's streaming services rely on internet connection, isn't an Ethernet connection a nice back-up in case WiFi is acting fussy? All in all, I've decided of course never to buy a Sharp product ever again, and I'm considering my options from here, but I would recommend to someone looking to buy this TV, to buy a different brand. I think Geek Squad tried their best, and while I was given some mixed information initially, I really wish Sharp would have stepped up in the first place and not passed the responsibility around.

    Subpar electronics

The wifi and Roku electronics are substandard. I Have had to factory reset a number of times but still no success. The wifi circuit is poor. It inconsistently picks up wifi signals and then even if you have full bars, will not connect. Even with the router sitting 5 ft. line of site, you have a 50/50 chance of it recognizing it, and then if it does, another 50/50 shot that it will actually connect. It will lose your sign on password and you will have to reenter it time after time. You can not use the T.V. without the Roku controller. The "Smart" Roku feature is even more of a pain. You have to try and line up the Roku controller just right in order for it to work. (That is indicative of the very lowest end Roku system) The only consistent and reliable thing about this T.V. is that the Roku will lock up and you will end up pushing the control button repeatedly to try and get it to move through the menu. It has a fine picture, and rather than take a hammer to it, I may see if I can use it as a monitor in my office. I will not buy another SHARP T.V. again. Period. If you work for Sharp, please feel free to be embarrassed and walk around town with your head down, hoping no one finds out.

My main tv is a 65" LG Smart tv but for two of my spare bedrooms I have 50" Sharp Smart TVs. I originally wanted to go with an LG option but the pricing on the Sharp was hard to beat so I gave it a whirl! This tv is my 2nd 50" Sharp (the first one I bought was a little older model but basically the same specs) and arrived quickly once purchased (via eBay) as refurbished. It arrived safely in the original box and was easy to unpack. Attaching the stand was a breeze and these newer TVs are getting lighter and lighter in weight. The setup was simple and, once signed into my Roku account, synchronized all of my apps etc. that I have on my OTHER Roku devices. That's pretty convenient! The picture quality is sharp and wifi upload speed is pretty good also. This is in a guest bedroom that's hardly used (and using wifi-based programs, not cable) but so far it was a great purchase at just around three hundred bucks! Highly recommend the Sharp TVs to those looking for a good quality TV but are on a budget.

Okay, This TV is great. Great picture, great sound! This is what I saw at my friends house when I saw the TV. I went out and bought the same one! So happy! Now don't let the following discourage you, MAKE SURE YOU MEASURE WHERE THE TV'S FEET GO! I was so disappointed! We don't want to hang it on the wall and our solid oak console table is an inch to small on either side! UGH!! So to get a new table would be twice as much as the TV. So I'm reboxing the TV and getting the almost same model with LAST YEARS FEET DESIGN! Can you believe the frustration, I so would implore the TV designers to write on the outside of the box the dimensions of the length of the feet positions!! This TV is wonderful just be aware in what ever you purchase something so simple can be so annoying!

    I Own This TV!

I own this same TV and I got it at Best Buy 2 yrs ago for its ROKU abilities and my budget was $300. It's a great 1080p TV and has outstanding HD apps! YouTube pops to life like I've never seen before. But, here we are 2 yrs later and 4K TV's can be had for this same price. Here's a Best Buy 4K TV that smokes this SHARP which is Hisense now. This 4K TV at Best Buy has better everything for the same price, give or take $20 or so. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/lg-50-class-led-uk6090pua-series-2160p-smart-4k-uhd-tv-with-hdr/6290166.p?skuId=6290166 This IS your chance to step up to 4K and do it right with a full ROKU experience built in just like the SHARP TV. GO 4K and forget about 1080p as it's the past and for good reason too. I like my 1080p HD SHARP ROKU TV, but, I would've bought the 4K TV if it were affordable 2 yrs ago when this SHARP ROKU TV was the HOT item. Merry Christmas! ~ peace

    Poor LED lifespan

I purchased TV this less than three years ago on Black Friday, the first one had no picture on day one so I was able exchange it the next day, in hindsight I should have purchased a different brand at that time. It was nice while it worked then suddenly no picture. Since it is out of warranty I called a TV repair service and the technician advised me it would be more cost effective to replace the TV than repair it. Apparently it is a common issue as this products LED lamps are of inferior quality and burnout quickly. I should have heeded my friends advice and avoided Sharp products altogether. I am to say the least very disappointed with this purchase.

    An affordable TV, but outdated

First I will say this tv us done it’s job in which I was looking for when purchasing it, a great bedroom tv. This tv is outdated with its 1080p quality that shows from the get go from someone who hasn’t had anything but 4K for the last few years. In an age where technology is on the rise, this tv is outdated. However for children or a tv that won’t be used often it’s cheap and fairly easy to use. The smart tv features are nice bonus, but end up saving you very little compared to just buying a removable streaming stick. Assembly took about 15 minutes and was a plug and go besides hooking it up to WiFi. At the end of the day depends on the purpose you seek for the tv, would not recommend for the living room or one that will be used constantly.

The tv picture is great. We bought an LG first and the picture was atrocious. We returned it the next day. The sharp tv has great picture quality and sound and is easy to use for a smart TV. The only downfall is the remote, it has no way of punching in a number you have to scroll through by pressing up or down till you get where you want. The only other thing is that you cannot just use your cable provider remote to watch TV you must hit a function with the TV's remote to choose what function you want Everytime you turn the TV on. It's kind of annoying but we deal with it.

This is my first Sharp TV, bought at a great price to replace a 55” Insignia (all of my other TVs are Insignias). After some minor adjustments, the picture is fantastic. Volume is superb even without a sound bar. It was easy to setup and love having You Tube on the main menu for watching music videos. The only disappointment was that it did not fit the hanging brackets on my current stand, but the stand is older than the TV we replaced. It does come with its own brackets and hardware so it very well may work for you.

    Not very good for streaming

I bought this TV to use with a streaming TV service. Over the last year , my experience has been that this TV cannot maintain a wifi connection in a manner consistent enough to be used with streaming services and with no cable connection. ( The tv is located directly next to the router and other devices do not have a problem) I could have overlooked this problem if there were an Ethernet connection, which there is not. This tv freezes several times a day and reboots it's randomly. I will not be getting a Sharp TV when I start looking again.

I've only had this TV for a month, but so far it's been great. My family has it on for about 12 hours a day (elderly sister with nothing else to do, lol) and it has a good picture. We use it with cable and we like the built-in Roku. I wall-mounted it after a few days because the feet are quite far apart and it just barely fit on the cabinet. I was worried that it might take a tumble. Good to have a wall mount in earthquake country! I was fortunate to buy this as a Deal of the Day.

When it came time to replace our 18 year old tube TV, we settled on this 50" smart tv. The picture quality and sound are fantastic. Watching programs in HD is quite a treat! Setup out of the box was a breeze for us technologically challenged seniors. The specific settings are a wonderful and welcome feature for our aging ears and eyes. Discovering all the different apps and programming is quite fun. Would buy this TV again in a heartbeat.

I purchased this because the price was right and I needed a smaller tv for the children's loft area. this tv is very light and I was able to mount it on the wall by myself. I would recommend this tv because of the Roku features. It saves me a few bucks from not having a DirecTV hook up in that room and the kids are able to watch all their programming with ease. I also like that the inputs are accessed through the main home screen and make it easy to change to inputs that tier game consoles are on.

I have had nothing but head aches with this TV. If you're willing to spend HOURS on the phone with geek squad and stores and sharp then this TV is perfect for you. Fun fact, this TV is made by Best Buy but yet no one is willing to stand behind the product. I've had 2 service calls on this TV in 10 months and I'm currently on the phone to setup the 3rd. Seriously. Dont buy this TV and save yourself some headaches.

I bought this TV in Jan 2017. After two years I got a line across the center of the screen. I see other reviews saying that the whole screen went black. I guess it's just a matter of time. Should have bought the Insignia. I also had many Roku issues. I bought a Ethernet dongle for the usb port and hard wired it. I still have to go through the wireless connect every time I turn the tv until it realizes it's wired. Never again Sharp.

50" sharp 4k with roku. 250 on sale. It was a email for that day only. Very good picture quality happy with the volume of the speakers. Have it in my kitchen fit perfectly on the wall. Replaced an old flat screen 32" visio but actual TV size was probably 40". Bought that in early 2000's still working good but always wanted a newer one . Very happy only issue is having to select the input it won't just select the only one being used.

Some may disagree with me on this but TV'S, in general, have lasted me well over 10 years. So this one lasted less than 4 years. So yes I am disappointed, has sound but no picture. You may wonder why I would be disappointed in Best Buy also? It was made for Best Buy and sold only there and there is nothing they can do for me. SHARP TV'S? I don't think so.

We got this TV for under $300 and it’s the best purchase ever most of our other TVs had the Roku adapter on the side and it would take forever to login and turn on. But with this TV you just turn it on and you’re instantly and we laughed about the other TVs that were three to $4000 and we’re like yeah I don’t need to feel like I’m there I just want my TV to turn on fast LOL

This is a really good 1080p LED product, this is the 2nd one we've owned. The 1st one's LED power board went out 2 years and 6 days after purchasing it. Thankfully we had purchased the 5 year warranty for $60.00. BestBuy did an excellent job honoring their warranty and replaced the failed unit in a timely manner. ** Buy the extended warranty on ANY flat screen TV you purchase!! **
