I purchased one for my wife for Christmas and I’ve used it almost every day since Christmas. I love it. Very invigorating exfoliating gives me energy. I’m thinking about buying one for my dad for his birthday too.

Love this product, stress release at the comfort of your own home

This was a Christmas gift for my wife and she has loved it! It was pretty easy to put together. There’s an instruction manual (little black book) inside of the steam chamber.

We have never been able to use this. The cover size did not match up with the poles available after spending several hours trying several different configurations. Poorly made and no instructions.

Summary: Delivers a home sauna experience on a budget. Fairly easy to put up but as would be expected for the price does has some quirks like the small, included chair. The large zipper door does leak some steam so requires time to build back up when getting in it. Pros: - Generates enough steam to be effective. - Complete (just add distilled water), easy to use with a good timer system. - Can be used with liquid scents. A Matter of Taste: - The included fold up chair is small. - The construction is not state of the art folding tent style and requires care in putting together (the tent fabric fits very tight). - Limited timer, probably good for safety reasons - If you are claustrophobic in a closet, you will find the 33"x33" square and is 66" tall size to be tight. - No interior light, just a small plastic window. Cons: - Set up takes 20 minutes, so not practical to take apart often as the name ‘portable’ implies. - Short power cord, you will likely need an extension cord. More words: I am old enough to remember when Sharper Image was a brick-and-mortar store with fun, almost futuristic home experience items such as foot massagers, plant lights, and personal fans. It was a great place to shop for fun quirky, if not always practical, gifts. Bad times led to bankruptcy and Sharper Image has been revived as a brand to sell at other stores. I was happy to see that the Steamer Sauna Portable Spa carries on in the same tradition of fun for the home experience. Having said that, the Sauna Spa should be viewed for the budge price you pay for it, which is less than the price of many Spa stays. It is essentially a small tent with a steamer unit. The tent is a system of plastic poles that do not spring into place like most modern tents (that cost a lot more) but do fit together reasonably well. The structure is light and feels fragile but gets the job done. The fabric fits tight over it, it is hard to get on, and you do need to be careful lest you break something, but the tightness lends to the structural integrity, making the whole thing stronger. After that it is an easy matter of hooking up the steamer and distribution system. For me the downside was the small folding chair that comes with it. It felt more like squatting than sitting and for me an average sized man, not the most comfortable. Think of those folding chairs you take to your kid’s soccer games, it was like that, but child sized. Cute. I replaced that with a larger plastic outside chair with no problem. The steamer comes with two settings you can change, intensity and time, but the reality is you will set it to the highest heat (9) and time (30 minutes) to get an effective experience. With that I would let it heat up for 10 or so minutes, get in through the zipper doors, wait a few minutes for the steam to build back up, and thus get a 15-minute sauna. Which was enough for the confined space feel, and did do a reasonable job of opening my pores and making me feel relaxed. A couple of other observations, the power cord is short. You will likely want an extension cord for flexibility of placement. The designers threaded a needle with wanting it to be large enough to use, but small enough to put in a room. Assembly effort and time was enough (20 minutes) that I didn’t want to assemble for every use. It should be used with distilled water to not get mineral build up. It can be used with liquid scents which really does add to the experience. Having said all that, if you are looking for a full long-term replacement for a real Spa Sauna experience you should consider spending a lot more money. For me it was perfect as a surprise gift experience for my wife. As it is portable, I set it up for the first time on the covered deck of our wood cabin (in the woods, overlooking a bay), and it really was fun and made her feel more connected to the surroundings. Very relaxing, and it made her understand why I wanted to build a Finnish style sauna there. With all those caveats and dialed in expectations, I can easily give this 4 stars.

I would not give it a 1 but I had no other choice. I bought this item as a gift for my daughter. When she opened it to put it together it was defective. The poles were too large for the sauna and bowed out. It would not even zip completely and the poles were not even in it completely. I attempted to return the defective item and they refused. They said I only had 15 days unless I paid to be a plus member just to return items within 60 days. I did not even have this item 30 days. The manager was quite disrespectful and acted like he didn't care when I explained the issue. He said you only have 2 weeks and walked away. He didn't even care to listen to what I was stating. I contacted customer service and they stated I can contact the manufacturer and stated I had a year warranty. The manufacturer will not exchange due to it being bought at Best Buy. They are scammers and I will never buy another item from them if they cannot back their items up. I dont have $150 to throw away and my daughter does not have a gift. Tell me how that is alright.
