I've been a fan of Shokz products for several years now, and was surprised to see they have products now that can be used on land AND in the water! I know there are a few earbuds that can get wet, but something you can safely wear in the lake/ocean/pool was definitely very cool to me. The package comes with a nice waterproof pouch that you can store wet headphones in, and, it was a nice touch for Shokz to include! Setup and pairing to my phone was simple and quick, and for the first day or so, I wore them around the house to confirm the range and how the sound was; the range was fantastic, easily over 50 feet, and even though I am not a big fan of how bone conduction earphones sound, these sounded better than earlier models from Shokz, and I was able to equalize the sound with my Wavelet app. Next day went over to my neighbors house to try them in his pool, and, even though I had only uploaded a few songs to the buds, I was amazed at how well they sounded, even with my head underwater. Using the included earplugs is a must if you actually swim in these things, but I assume if you just are lounging around in the water, they sound ok with out them. They have 2 sound modes, MP3 and "podcast", and music sounds fine with the MP3 setting. Definitely a "niche" product, and if you arent going to swim often with them, you might be better off getting their "land based" models, since you do pay a premium for the waterproofing package, but, if you often use Transparency mode on your earbuds so you can be aware of your surroundings, these are tailor made for you, and, you get the added bonus of being completely waterproof! Dont lose that special charging/data transfer cable that comes with these guys, since its the only way to charge them!

The Shoks Open Swim Pro Bone Conduction Sport Headphones are very impressive. These bone-conduction headphones surpassed all of my expectations from waterproofing to sound while listening to music, sound from videos and podcast and even call quality on both ends of phone calls. They just work as stated and work very well at that. They come with ear plugs and a proprietary charging cord as well as a nice rubber-like zip-up case with holes for water to drain out so they can dry out after using them in water. I have always been interested in bone conduction headphones for the open ear aspect of them. However, as someone who works in the heat and sweats a lot and likes to take swims in the summer, I jumped on this model. After charging them and wearing them for the first time I will say they take a little getting used to as far as finding the ideal placement below your ears and for the band around the back of your head. Once you do you will find the right spot for your ideal sound reproduction without them getting in the way or feeling uncomfortable. I was really blown away when these sounded better with more volume than my old favorite and discontinued Backbeat 3150’s. One thing I do notice though is they tickle my ears, especially with low-frequency sounds. However, it is not something that I can not deal with. Overall, I would say if you are looking for something this. The Shoks Open Swim Pro headphones are probably one of the best bone-conduction headphones you can buy. Shoks has been a leader in the bone conduction segment for many years and they are still pushing the boundaries of this technology with innovative ideas and high quality products.

    Solid swimming/workout headphones

These are pretty good swimming headphones. They're exactly what I said, headphones. They basically vibrate your skull. They don't necessarily go inside your ear like earbuds. They're more like speakers that are near your ears so you can wear earbuds when you're swimming. In fact, that will make the sound better. I do like that it's not in-ear because it allows you the flexibility wearing your own earbuds if you wear those for swimming, but this DOES INCLUDE earbuds. These earbuds can be connected via Bluetooth but it also has a 4GB MP3 function that you can put directly into the headphones itself. It's a pretty neat feature since I personally haven't seen or used an MP3 in a while. It works and I have no complaints if that's more your thing versus using your phone for music while you swim. It's been tested for both fresh water and sea water. You can use this for phone calls too but I wouldn't expect you'd be talking on the phone while swimming because that doesn't really sound good overall. This is a workout headphone overall and it's pretty solid overall.

Overall, I really like shokz products. I use them for running and they are great. I like the concept of these, and it is nice to have a set that are water resistant. I don't own any MP3s so I didn't get to test it with music loaded onto them which is an option. They work great with my phone on the pool deck as long as I don't fully submerge them. Once I submerge the Bluetooth connection to my phone is lost and I lose sound, once I crest the surface again the sound returns. I tried to connect them through my apple watch and that worked fine until either my watch or the headphones went under the water and again, I would lose sound, but it would pick up again when it was out of the water. Overall, the connection to my phone was preferrable because my wrist is submerged so much of the time for the watch to work effectively with the headphones. If I was going anywhere other than a pool where the bluetooth range will for the most part hold I would take the time to load music on them. As long as I wasn't completely submerged, they worked great.

I use the Openswim Pro headphones both in the pool swimming laps (in MP3 mode) and mowing and working in the yard (in Bluetooth mode) paired with iPhone 14Pro. Both work very well - very clear sound even underwater.
