Few alarm systems require central service to work. Most sent email to a phone without having a central service to either facilitate or enhance the system. I do not recommend anything that requires a central service. It is an unnecessary expense given the immediacy of video to a phone. You can call the police yourself.

This is a very easy way to have your own, easy-to-install alarm system. It strikes the middle ground between a DIY alarm system: making it really for someone to set- up items based on your own needs, and a subscription-based alarm monitoring system: one that calls the cops when alam is triggered while you are somewhere skiing. I had both and this gives you the best of both worlds. Pros: Super easy to install. The buttons on the devices (motion sensor and door sensors) easily interact with the keypad. The keypad is easy to understand and is very responsive. You can set yourself up in minutes. It is sleek and easy, and it looks good too!. Cons: To be able to access remote arm/disarm, you need the subscription. It is only $14.99 monthly but of course, you need an alarm permit ($30 / year in Los Angeles) to operate one. There are DIY ones where you can disarm / arm remotely-- but of course, if something happens to your house, all you can do is your watch your place get robbed while you are away (vs. subscription where the cops are called to attend to your home. My only concern is that if the alarm is triggered falsely, you cannot disarm it remotely wihout a subscription, unlike the DIY ones. Other than that, I think it's a great alternative to home security.

Replaced my older version with this so that I could control it through Alexa. Works as a charm.

Love the simplisafe system it has all the sensor that you need.

I thought it was a great deal and was excited about being able to self monitor my home security. It's not very loud and often gives me a wireless interference warning. Without paying for the service it's pretty minimal security. Also, it will not sink with Google assistant without purchasing the monthly plan.

The product specifies the security systems is compatible with Alexa but it does not say that you need to pay for a plan to have the right to connect it to Alexa
