SimpliSafe, The Guardian Watchdog!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.SimpliSafe is a complete home security system in a box. The unit is marketed with 4 window/door monitors, 1 base station, 1 wireless keypad, and 1 motion sensor. System set up takes a few short minutes. No need to drill holes into your walls which is a blessing in disguise. So you may be wondering if the SimpliSafe alarm system is right for you? Keep reading and I will help you become an educated consumer. The SimpliSafe system will offer protection if your power goes out, as it will keep monitoring your home for an additional 24 hours. For those consumers that have pets you need not worry about false alarms. The unit has a motion sensor which dectects "heat signatures" of humans and not your pets. Pets will not set off false alarms, which means that your dogs and cats can roam freely around your home. We all know that animal or pet false alarms become a deal breaker if your home alarm system is unable to correctly make this distinction. You can also accessorize your Simplisafe with environmental sensors such as water, fire, carbon monoxide and smoke detectors. If this is your first venture into the market for a home alarm system, it is very important that you know that there are other home alarms that offer both indoor and outdoor cameras with their products, as well as mobile access via your home internet/smart phones. Having smart phone/mobile access means that you can activate your home cameras (both inside and out), to immediately see what's going on in your home. They also record a film clip of an intruder should there be an activation. The best news, is that there is no need to pay a monthly home monitoring fee on some of the other home monitoring systems. One of the great options of this unit is that you the consumer have the option to choose professional monitoring. There are 2 types of professional monitoring services which are available (for a fee), i.e. the Standard or Interactive Plans. You can also use the system without professional monitoring, but there are drawbacks. Remember, you don't have access to the Simplisafe mobile app without a subscription to Interactive monitoring. Without a monitoring plan, you do not have access to any texts, email messages, or the online command center. In my opinion there is need for improvement with regards to having mobile access even if you self monitor. This would give you the option of monitoring while vacationing or while your shopping at your local supermarket. Having the option to add an outdoor camera to your system would also be a nice option. In closing, if you are looking for a decent home alarm monitoring system, the Simplisafe system coupled with a monitoring option is a great choice. Your residence will be protected by a 24 hour a day monitoring service and gives you that safe feeling. The Simplisafe system is a no brainer.

Super easy setup, super easy to use!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Out of the box, this is so easy to setup... I was pleasantly surprised! No drills, no wires, no mess... Just super easy to setup and it started working right away, flawlessly. I really don't think you can go wrong with this system. This system even has battery back up in case you lose power... it will keep you protected for up to 24 ours... that's piece of mind. So far, the system has been working as advertised with no issues. I would like to try it a little longer and may give an updated review after 60 days or so. Bottom line... this is a great system for your money.

Great Alarm System
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I always wanted to purchase the SimpliSafe Alarm System, but I didn't like the look of the previous model. The door contacts were too bulky, and the system looked dated. The redesign model looks nice. The contacts are slimmer, and look far better than the previous ones. Setup wasn't too bad, but I felt as though it would be a lot easier with a step by step illustrated quick start guide. The keypad has navigation buttons on each corner of the screen making it easy to make selections.

Big improvment from Original System
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had the original simpli safe system for awhile, and it worked ok at first, but recently was having problems with false alarms, do getting the new and improved model was a no brainier. The new version is light years better than the original; illuminated key pad, wifi enabled, much nicer base station, and a more modern look, So far, so good, and hopefully, this unit wont have the issues with false alarms the first one had!

Good, if you want to save money.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Securing your home is the most important thing nowadays. I was paying so much to these alarm companies for what simplisafe offers. It's simple to setup, easy to program. Depending on what you need for your home you can purchase additional sensors. I like you don't have to be locked into a contract like these other companies and all the fees associated with it. You pay upfront for your equipment which can be a lot depending on what you need and you pick a monthly plan that fits your need. I like that it's DIY just in case you move all you need to do is install it at your new home instead of calling for a technician. Your protected instantly. Someone who isnt technology savvy can put this in their home, so if you want to save money I recommend this

Love the new styling.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my second SimpliSafe security system. The first one worked great and this one continues that legacy. In the box you get a base station, one motion sensor and 4 door/window sensors, which are super easy to set up. In my opinion, the best part of this system is the new and improved look of the components. They no longer look outdated and actually look like fancy smart devices.

Excellent affordable security system
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This system is easy to install out of the box. Any amateur DIYer with a little bit of time can put this system up with zero issues. The alarm seems loud enough to scare the normal sketchball off, and if not I'm pretty sure they sell a louder alarm. Kind of weird that they don't include a loud alarm, but I get it. They offer lots of additional add-ons at pretty affordable prices. Key fobs, carbon monoxide sensors, glass break sensors etc. This is the newer version of the simplisafe alarm and it looks really sharp. There are a few downsides I can think of. You do have to pay for the service, but it's relatively affordable. There may be 1 or 2 cheaper options in the self-install security system. I also wish simplisafe integrated with home automation systems and I wish they had an outside camera. Having a total solution from top to bottom would be ideal but maybe they will eventually come out with this. Either way, for what you're getting here it seems worth it to me.

A Great DIY System that can add paid features!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The SimpliSafe - Protect Home Security System - White operates by two methods. It can be a DIY home security system that can make a loud enough alarm noise to scare any intruder from illegally breaking into my home or a monthly fee can be paid to activate emergency monitoring that gives more features. The box’s writing states; Open box, plug it in and protect home. That is exactly how it worked. The setup is really simple. I just plugged in the base station and then stuck the keypad on the wall, near the home’s main entrance. Keypad navigation is easy and fast with its four way toggle function. I used the keypad to install and name all the monitoring devices used for securing my home. The Motion sensor and the Entry sensors protect areas, windows and doors respectively, by triggering the sensors to activate the alarm when they are breached. The siren alarm is so loud that a neighbor would definitely investigate what is causing the noise or call the police to investigate. The SimpliSafe - Protect Home Security System - White is a great home security system to start with, because you can add on additional features to increase the homes’ total security as additional security needs are discovered.

Wireless home security with or without the fees
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been waiting for the google homes and the alexas to prompt something similar to what happened with the refresh of the simplisafe this year. I was hoping that the newest version would talk more with smart home devices and be able to trigger customized alerts without the need for monthly monitoring fee. The 2018 redesign of the simplisafe gets most of the way there, and I wouldn't be surprised if Google Home and/or Amazon Alexa support is only a software patch away. Components and setup: The system is all wireless with the exception of a power adapter for the main base, and the need to mount the keypad. The keypad is the brains of the entire operation, letting you carry it around to set up the system and connect them one by one. this is genius and worked very well for me. The entire unboxing is quite pleasant with things nicely nested and labeled. Instructions were useful but not overly technical and got you going. This set comes with a decent number of door/window sensors, one motion detector, the keypad and the brain/siren. Once they're placed/confirmed then you press the button on the sensor while navigating the add device menu on the keypad and it tells you when it connects. Sensors: So far the door and window sensors work flawlessly. this is an easy one to do well I guess. I followed the instructions and mounted the motion sensor in a sort of "upside down" manner so as not to have any false alerts from the dog. I appreciate that this system is also designed with pets in mind. I haven't had any false alerts yet, but then again the only alerts I've had are the ones I've triggered myself to test the system. Brain/Keypad/monitoring options: I loved using the keypad a sort of tablet device to set up and modify the whole system. I couldn't help but wonder if they could have cut some costs if that could have been done from a smartphone app. Speaking of I did download their app and found that it was pointless unless I had paid for their monitoring. here's where the simplisafe falls short. I am unable to get the system to do anything but set off the siren when an alarm is tripped UNLESS I pay for monthly monitoring. When compared to some of the main competitors like the Lowe's Iris, this pales. I felt that it should at least be able to alert me via the app or be able to send me a text. I understand that the money is in the monthly monitoring and not the hardware itself... but I refuse to add that to my bill so someone else can call the police for me. I was underwhelmed by the useless app and even less impressed with the options without paying the monthly fee. I'm going to use it this way for a while and see how it goes, perhaps I'll spring for it. At least I get one major form of security that I needed at this point: I can tell if one of my young children has somehow gotten the door/window open at night when I'm not near their bedroom. This alone is worth the cost for me. I assume more integration is coming, but until it does, this thing doesn't talk to my google homes. Even then the role of security might still require these to be kept appliance grade. Overall it does what it set out to do, I'm just bummed it can't do more. I also own an Arlo system that gets used at another site, and the app for that system has all kinds of alerts and different options that are software based, I was hoping this was similar in options. I'd rate this five stars for the hardware and setup, ease of use, and it's only the app and inability to connect it to other devices or control my own alerts that keep me from giving it a full five stars. I'm torn on whether or not I'd recommend this to someone. As a straight security system, it's quite powerful, but this is the age the of the smart home!

Futuristic Security for Every Home
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The SimpliSafe home security system feels like having the future in your home, providing reliable security, mobile control, alerts, visibility and reassurance that your home and love ones are safe. I have been looking for a security system that offers customizable options and SimpliSafe is it. I love that the system is not dependent on a phone line, or even a power source (for a period of time). The system is pretty easy to setup. There are several options for placing the sensors on entryways. The mobile service is very handy. You can monitor and control the entire system from your mobile device. We tested the alarm and it is very loud. It will definitely get the attention of anyone in the area. In the event of an actual emergency, the authorities will be notified in addition to the alarm. Very excited about the SimpliSafe home security system. I definitely recommend it for all homes. There are different sizing options to fit different home sizes.

Writing This As I Install
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Installation is a breeze. It has taken less than 20 minutes to install the base, control pad, motion sensor and entry alarms on all external doors. Planning on adding additional pieces over time. I have not yet activated service, doing a few dry runs first to make sure everything is how we want it. And to teach the kids what to do so we aren't getting calls every time someone comes in the door. Combining this with our security cameras (unfortunately not SimpliSafe cameras) and we now have whole home protection. All I can say is this was much easier than I anticipated. The parts are all high quality. The base looks like one of my wife's diffusers, so it blends in well with everything else we have. Can't say enough good about this system.

Only if I could use all features
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This SimpliSafe unit would have ranked higher if I didn’t have to pay for service to unlock all of its features. Now with that said this unit is super easy to install as it has adhesive strips preinstalled on each component. All you need to do is locate where you want each to go pull the tab to activate the batteries and place them in the required locations. Once up and running Ensure you label all of your components via the master controller and from there activate service which you will have to pay for. This system is extremely easy to set up and as far as alerting you of a home intrusion you can’t go wrong for the cost to own and operate.

Easy setup, great alarm system
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This alarm is as good as advertised. It works right out of the box and setup is very easy. It was up and running in about 15 minutes. My only complaint is I wish the alarm sound on high was louder. Also, there is an app, but the app doesn't work unless you're paying for the subscription. Now compatible with Alexa, as of today, but hopefully soon.

Pretty good, missing important features
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Simplisafe Protect was, as the name implies, simple to set up. Unbox, plug in the base station, set up the keypad then install sensors and sync them. Done. It took me longer to choose the right locations for the motion sensor and window/door sensors than anything else. The sensors and base station are small enough to be fairly unnoticeable and the new design is a big aesthetic improvement over the prior version. All of the sensors and the keypad install with command hook type adhesive strips and a few extras are included in the box in case you mess up when initially positioning one or decide to relocate something later. The siren is loud enough to definitely grab some attention, which is good because unless you pay for monitoring, this is the only notification the system gives. Unfortunately, Simplisafe hasn’t baked-in the ability to self-monitor this system in any way. Absent the monitoring, all you have is a noise-maker. I didn’t figure this out until I had the system completely installed, which was a huge disappointment. Although the base has built-in wifi and cellular capabilities, they only work to connect to the monitoring company. There is no way to get notifications sent to your phone or other device when alerts occur (although I understand you can set it up with Simplisafe to call you before calling emergency dispatch, assuming you’ve paid for the monitoring). If you want a monitored alarm system and are willing to pay the ongoing monthly fees, this system is great. If, however, you want a local alarm with the ability to self-monitor, look elsewhere. On another note, also lacking from this system is any integration with smart home technologies. Not a deal-breaker necessarily for me, but something I would expect to see at this stage of the game. Because of what I perceive to be shortcomings, I would only cautiously recommend the Simplisafe Protect and would definitely include caveats when doing so.

Super easy to install
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wow. Made me think Apple built it. Super easy to install. Love how easy it was to place the sensors and get it all connected. Right now I am not using the monthly monitoring. If you want that is is an extra $14.95 and up depending on the level of monitoring and if you want to use the mobile app too. That is why I didn’t give it 5 stars. Can’t use the app unless you pay for the monitoring. It has lots of extra sensors you can add to expand the system.

Not so Simple and no HomeKit integration
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not as simple as it claims AND NO APPLE HOMEKIT SUPPORT. After a lot of research, we made the wrong decision and went with SimpliSafe. The videos and online manuals made setup appear simple. We purchased one keypad , 8 entry sensors, motion sensor, doorbell, door lock, and camera. Much of it was very simple to set up and some of it even very impressive. However, it is not even close to being as easy as they make it look. If your able to use a phone app, it is much simpler to setup than naming your devices with the archaic input on the keypad. Before I continue, let me reiterate that SimpliSafe does not work with HomeKit (Siri) although when we ordered our system this was supposed to be coming. Now everything I read says that basically Apple and SimpliSafe were not able to come to an agreement and there is no integration planned in the future (confirmed by tech support). This would have been a deal breaker as I would have never went with a system that doesn’t work with Apple. Back to installation, don’t expect a couple of hours to install it. Plan on a full day. The lock is not nearly as intuitive as it seems to install and none of the adapters were exactly what the instructions said we needed for our brand new construction townhouse. We picked the one that looked most like the suggested one and luckily it worked. You are actually replacing a physical deadbolt and this can take some time. The doorbell was very problematic. It repeatedly failed to connect to WiFi even though it is less than 8 feet from a repeater. The trouble shooter only offered the option of adding a repeater which we already had and was well within range. After less than two weeks the doorbell lost connectivity for no apparent reason. SimpliSafe support was very helpful even though they talk to you like you have no technology smarts at all, which is not my case. After walking me through a reset (tiny pin hole inside doorbell) that is not mentioned in any documentation I could find, we were able to get the doorbell back online and it has functioned correctly now for several weeks. Latest is that the camera has now lost WiFi connection even though the camera hasn’t moved and nothing has changed with our WiFi. After three tries to add the camera, it refuses to join the network. Again it has a very strong WiFi signal. Another call to customer support is going to be required to get the camera back online. Finally, the apps. We have the apps installed on an iPhone X, two iPad Pro’s, and Apple Watch 4. The phone app is just OK, but slow compared to other apps. There is no iPad app. You’re stuck with downloading the iPhone app meaning no horizontal use. Very disappointing. When the doorbell rings, I would expect the camera to automatically pop up on my phone. Nope. You get a notification and by the time the app opens and you can look at the camera, they are already gone. The Apple Watch app is totally worthless. It simply doesn’t work. Most of the time when you tap it is starts refreshing indefinitely. The couple of times that it did finish refreshing, the status of the alarm was totally wrong even though the phone had the accurate state of the alarm. Do your research and don’t believe all the recommendations that SimpliSafe supposedly has. There are several other security systems that I have send discovered, or are newer, that promise a better experience and Apple HomeKit integration. We use a different system in our vacation home that is far superior to SimpliSafe.
