I must say SimpliSafe has given you many options for Home Security. You can go from a small apartment to a nice size house. The setup was very simple and signing up for an account was even easier. And the price for monitoring is very compatible with what's out there right now. I must have the cameras there very nice I checked them out on website. If you want a security system without all the contracts and upfront cost definitely check this one out. They have pre-built systems or you can build your own.

    Sleek and elegant design

I've been a Simplisafe customer for a bit over two years now. I started with their second generation security system, and although I had a couple of issues with setting up my first system from the go, it's been a great system so far. The second generation Simplisafe security system was much less appealing than this new system. This new Simplisafe security system not only looks more sleek and elegant, but it also has great features and updates that make it better. One of the biggest and greatest updates that accompany this new system is the wifi connectivity on top of their cell service. The old system was only cell service connected, so the addition of wifi connectivity on this new system offers double the protection now. The updated "tower," which is the brain of the system, has an extended range for sensors, and has a battery that Simplisafe claims will last 24 hours. Another great upgrade was the sensors. The new sensors are smaller and more elegant looking as well. The system is extremely easy to setup. You just place the sensors where you want them, turn the system on, and call to have your system started. The service fees are really affordable and you are not locked into a contract like most of the other home security systems. This was definitely a big plus for me. You can expand your system by purchasing separate sensors as you go. Which leads me to my next point. The biggest drawback that I see in Simplisafe's new system is that none of my sensors from my second generation Simplisafe system are compatible with this new system. I now have to order a new siren, window break sensor, and more motion sensors for my new system. I wish that Simplisafe would have made the old sensors compatible with this new system. This is the reason why I could not give this system a better rating. Overall, I am happy with my new Simplisafe system. I would definitely recommend this security system to anybody that is in the market for one.

    Great Scalable Security System

The SimpliSafe Protect Home Security System is a great entry level system that can provide some peace of mind to those who want protection without the complicated process of a standard system hardwired/installed system. The SimpliSafe system comes with a base module, keypad, motion sensor, and four window/door sensors. The base can be placed in a central location while the keypad and sensors need to be within 400 ft. Each sensor and the keypad can be attached via a adhesive pad which is nice since it doesn't require any drilling so perfect for those in an apartment or other place where you might not want to permanently alter the property. I really like that the SimpliSafe Home Protect is easily scalable. Buy what you need when you need it. They have cameras, additional door/window sensors, and additional motion sensors should you need them. You pay SimpliSafe for the monitoring, but you own the security system. Should someone break in, the base system will notify the monitoring service via cell network so there are no land lines required! Each sensor is battery powered so the system is completely wireless. In conclusion, I think this is a very reasonably priced security system with monitored service (monthly fee required). That's important to note since some systems basically alert you if a sensor is activated or alarm is triggered. This system will alert you and the police/fire so it is more like a standard security monitoring service. It's scalable so you can expand and add features as needed. My only critique is that the alarm isn't as loud as I would like, but that may not matter as much since it will be alerting the police as well. Pros: -Scalability -Design -Portability -Price -Setup/Install Cons: -Alarm loudness (or lack thereof)

    SimpliSafe is SimpliAmazing for 2018!

SimpliSafe made fantastic products last year with their alarm systems but there were a few things mainly the "outdatedness" of the product itself. But this year they simply heard our cries and made a better all-around alarm system called "The Haven." This version of that is like a starter kit from that model. This is their best foot forward yet and the progress with the design is much more modern. The price of it is still the same which is good, $14.99 a month and there are no contracts. Nothing with subscription prices have changed. The system instructions are clear and simple enough to install on your own. No drilling. No tools. Just plug in the Base Station, place your sensors around your home. After that you pretty much good to go. I have no issues with the installation progress. Connecting to Wi-Fi was easy. The Base of the device hub that brings your home protection together. If the invader tries to damage the keypad it knows, Its disaster ready, and protection against power outage. It's an awesome system that keeps you protected. It’s cheap, adorable, really simple, and straightforward. The sensors are pet-friendly and have worked for me to a degree but I found the pets have to be really close to sensor monitor for it to trigger. I don’t see this being a problem. The keypad is new and this one is "touch-to-wake" much-needed improvement over the older model. This one lights up so you can see which buttons you press at night in the top row. The siren isn't very loud but will surely alert anyone who comes into your home. This version isn't also backward compatible with the older model so you will be buying all new parts for the 2018 model. Overall its a huge improvement over the older one and it was much needed. Still the same reliable Simplisafe backing the product. This is a good security system at a cheap price. When you want to feel safe this is the product to get.

I appreciate SimpliSafe products for being easy to use, reliabe, and inexpensive.  This newest version maintains those traditions but also takes substantial steps forward in terms of style and technology. Having used the previous generation, the major changes are: New keypad.  The new keypad is backlit, has a much nicer screen, and much larger buttons.  It looks far more modern than the prior generation. Base station.  The new base station is smaller and better looking. It's still too big and bulky, but it is a vast improvement. Controls. What an improvment! The system controls are accessed via the keypad, and the updated menus are a massive improvement. I like that you can name each sensor individually, easily control the volume, and even control the light on the base station.  Pairing the sensors is easy, just press a button on the sensor and then assign it a name (usually a location) on the keypad. Sensors. The sensors are smaller and a lot more sleek. Overall, the impression given by this new version is that SimpliSafe listened to customers and gave the entire system a much-needed overhaul.

Simple setup and works right out of the box

My first recommendation would be to spend the extra money to purchase the system with the broken glass detection and multiple motion detectors. This basic package would be great for a smaller home, town home or condo. It isn't enough for a medium or larger size home. The device is simple to set up and it's very intuitive to use. Pairing the sensors are easy and they don't require tools to install. Be careful with the adhesive backing, as any dust at all will ruin the tape. The senors are attractive and not cumbersome. This basic set gives one motion detector, four window/door detectors, the base station and the keypad. The base station is loud and easily heard throughout the house. I have someone at home most of the time, so I did not sign up for the service at this time. I will likely sign up down the road when we will be away more often. The pricing is $14.99 or $24.99 per month, depending upon the level of service that you need. The basic service will provide remote service and monitoring. The higher priced package also provides mobile app control and text alerts along with remote arming and disarming. Overall this is a good system and is simple to use.

I have to admit, the setup on this was very easy to do. Within about 20 minutes, I had 4 entry sensors mounted and connected, the motion sensor mounted and connected, and the keypad installed and working. I'm dinging a star because the setup was complaining that my wireless network password was incorrect. I tried connecting multiple times to both my regular network and my guest access account (different passwords for each) and on every attempt the system said that my password was incorrect. I decided to skip connecting to my WiFi and move on and when I came back to the wireless connection settings, it showed that it was in fact connected to my guest account. Other than the WiFi connection issue, the unit seems to be a worthwhile addition to protecting my home and family.

This is a good system, affordable. Installation is easy, everything you need is in the box. App and hardware needs upgrade. App needs more functionality to it, $25/month with very basic functions is expensive. Hardware design refresh of the base station and the keypad will be nice in the near future. I used it for 3 months, it is a good system, I switched because I prefer a more modern looking hardware and app integration. If you don't care of any of those, this will a solid choice.

The ONLY way I would ever recommend S.S. to anyone would be if they never turned off the paid subscription to the "monitoring". My system literally the same minute that I cancelled their service, while I was still on the phone with them, my system rebooted and kicked everything offline and I have never been able to successfully get everything correctly set back up. The base station has all sorts of wifi connectivity issues, and the exterior camera fails to connect to on demand live view more than it actually works. The worst part about it all, is when you cancel the "monitoring", the rest of the customer service after-the-sale goes with it. To be clear, the reason I cancelled the monitoring service to begin with was the indoor camera would come on at random times without being requested, and I felt there was a privacy issue.

Extremely simple to set up. Although you do not need the monitoring service, to have camera recording full time AND have remote viewing abilities - you DO need an additional plan for a fee (No, you can not connect your own external hard drive, and plans are not terribly expensive). Returns are 100% (2/5/21), but it is taking them 3 weeks - incapable or hesitant, I am unsure. It is my understanding, a button fob programmed to a specific frequency can jam the keypad and allow entrance through a door sensor, and since you can believe everything on youtube [sarcasm], be cautious and review yourself. A great inexpensive DIY security system that doesn't need monitoring - I simply misunderstood its abilities, and trusted other users' reviews and comments. Thanks for the review! We do offer slightly different solutions compared to other companies. For example, our cameras are fully web-based, and camera recordings are saved to unlimited storage int the cloud - which is why a Subscription is required. But you're able to livestream and receive notifications from Motion Alerts at no extra cost, right through the app.

We do want to clarify about the second point - jamming is a big concern for all wireless security systems. That's why ours is designed to detect jamming attempts and send an immediate notification to the user, so you're never caught unaware. DO NOT USE SIMPLISAFE My house is burglarized in California recently. Cameras, motion sensors, glass break sensors - all installed and none picked anything at the time of breakin. Just before the burglary or after, SimpliSafe cameras picked videos of me and my family’s motion activities. Please please please go with something more credible may be ADT. But definitely avoid SimpliSafe crap.

This is THE best stand alone security system on the market. It comes with a good number of sensors and since it connects through cellular there is no need to worry about cables being cut. The ability to control it through a phone app is another great feature.

    Motion sensors very flaky

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I've had the SimpliSafe system for about a year. I installed the motion sensors on wall corners according to SS's guidelines on height and direction. My experience with it so far is at best C-. I have two small cats, and they aren't the type that runs around and play together. But the motion sensors have kept tripping when AWAY, sometimes on back-to-back days. My house haven't been broken into, so the only explanation is my cats are triggering them. The motion sensors are all installed at higher than 6' off the ground, and there's nothing immediately under them, like tables, that would allow my cats to get really close. But either way, SS claims that their motion sensors won't be triggered by pets. I can't imagine those households with dogs, like golden retrievers, how motion sensors must be going off every day. SS should either really pet-proof their sensors or stop claiming something that doesn't work.

Decent Product, but Lacking Customer Service

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I have now had the SimpliSafe for 1 month and the system overall seems to work well. However, my front door sensor and the motion sensor kept falling off. I eventually had to use the screen for the motion sensor in the basement and add additional adhesive to the front door sensor. In testing the sensitivity of the motion sensors, it is a hit or miss. I have two motion sensors for each floor. I had armed the system and stood in front of sensor jumping and waving my hands and did not detect any motion. This is really troubling to me, not sure why the basement ones work well and the one upstairs does not. I do not have full confidence in the motion sensors and because of it, I added window sensors in those locations for additional peace of mind. Regarding customer service, I have called them regarding two matters and the persons whom I spoke with were not knowledgeable about the products and anything technical. It was as if they were reading from a script or the instruction manual that was already provided. More recently, I purchased and then returned the Video Doorbell Pro because I could not integrate with my existing doorbell setup. I recently called to check the status of my refund and the rep was unable to confirm that the product had been received and when can I expect to see the credit. I was confused they were the ones who provided the return shipping label and should be able to simply track it. Well, I tracked the package while on the phone with the Rep and confirmed that it was delivered early last week. Still, the rep was unable to tell me when I could expect the refund. I'm sure that I will eventually see the credit, but their customer service is outright lousy and not helpful. For me, customer service is crucial for efficient home security. I need to have confidence in their system, the knowledge of the reps, and their responsiveness to issues relating to my account. I am going to give it another week or two to see how it goes. If this continues, I may return the entire system since it's within the 60-day money back guarantee period.

Absolutely terrible. SimpliSafe customer service is a joke. When you sign up for their plan you can't cancel it without calling customer service. Even then, in my experience, after telling their agent around seven times that I wanted to cancel my service, I was still billed two days later. I had to then call again to have that charge removed and to again, cancel my service. Another hour of my life wasted. Their equipment sucks and doesn't work properly half of the time. Cameras record too late and not long enough. The Doorbell camera doesn't record your portion of the conversation. Their sensors work 40% of the time. It is a complete joke of a service all around and you should take the hundreds of dollars you will spend on service over the year and equipment to get started and just do business with another security service.

    Useless as "Self-Monitoring" security

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

My husband and I were looking for a "self-monitoring" system. We wanted to use our phones to get alerts when sensors were tripped while we were away from home. We did not want professional monitoring. Did some researched and went with SimpliSafe because it was highly rated. All equipment installed and get to activating to realize that we would need to pay 29.99 a month to get notifications on our phones. This was not what I thought it was, nor does it suit our needs. Without paying a monthly fee, you just have a noise maker, which would have been fine except I would have NO way of knowing if the system was tripped while we are away at work. Which was a huge factor in our decision. I will say the equipment was easy to install, it looks nice, but it's just not what we needed. Only had it for a couple days. I will be returning and researching for something else.
