    Oddly secure start up

    Strange but this order doesn't show up in my history, wasn't sure i really bought it. Then when i got it it was sealed with secure tape and was impossible to open the box until finally we had to rip open the box and made quite the mess. Will set up later, too tired already.

    SimpliSafe has been in our house for 2 years and has proven to be a great asset. The system is easy to set up and use.

    Components fail after about 2 years.

    I have 2 of these systems. Four years in, most of the components have failed. This includes a doorbell, door lock, most of the door sensors, and one of the base stations. They're incredibly expensive to replace and I had to purchase another package to replace the base station. And, none of the tech has improved in the 4 years I've had the system. It's all the same. Another base station just died and I refuse to invest more money into this ecosystem. I'm really disappointed in it. In terms of the coverage, it actually works and is quite sufficient. The first year or two is great, then it all falls apart in rapid succession.

    No timeline of sensor events unless you use the stupid secret message which disables the base station functionality (alerts, door open beeps, etc). Also does not play nice with ifttt or any smart home or automation. There is also no api to compensate for the lack of features and functionality. What you get is REAL cheap, but they charge you as much as a serious alarm company. But don't be fooled, simplisafe is as bottom to the barrel as you can get when choosing security companies.

    I replaced my original Simplisafe system with this "Better" system. I have had nothing but problems with the new sensors in this system from day one. I am constantly getting messages that one of my sensors , motion, glassbreak , water sensor, entry , temperature is not responding. I have contacted support numerous times and they would reset system and sensor would work for a while or they would send new sensors but I continue to have the same issues over and over. I didn't have these issues with my original Simplisafe system. If you are looking for a reliable system this is not it.

      We sincerely apologize for the difficulty you've had with setting up your system. It might help to make sure that your old system is fully shut down (with batteries taken out of the old Base Station) to prevent interference.

    The equipment is nice and easy to set up, that is the 2 stars. Features are 0. They force you to pay a monthly fee if you want to use any interactive features from the mobile app. The BIG problem is that for a DIY alarm it lacks in any DIY features unless you pay $25 per month to unlock the monitoring and "interactive" portion. Simplisafe does offer a cheaper plan for $15 dollars per month but that does not unlock the “interactive” abilities. You have to pay 25 a month to get features that are FREE standard features with any other DIY home alarm such as Nest or IsmartAlarm. So without paying Simplisafe the 25 per month you can not do a thing from the mobile app. You can't set the alarm, turn off the alarm, see if it is active or disarmed, see a history, you don't get notifications so if it goes off you can't do anything. With other DIY systems I am able to control my alarm , see a history, check the status, get instant notifications, check my cam from the app and even turn off and reset the alarm. With Simplisafe nothing, it is not even worth it. I could be at work , alarm goes off and I will never know. So if you want an alarm system that you can interact with from your mobile app without paying $25 per month then skip this alarm system. If I wanted a monthly fee just to use basic features I would stick to ADT. This thing is going back!

    Just a question BEFORE purchase, can i get the system in black instead of white? Only option I saw said it was not available and looked like it may have been discontinued. Does anyone have the black one?

    This isn't useful unless you're paying for the pro service. The service is setup to get you a push notification, but you can't have that unless you pay them. Which means that they're going to call you anyway, so why have both or neither? They're really missing the mark here by not offering that as an entry level option. Otherwise I'll give them for ease of setup. I wish I could actually disable the chimes from the keypad though.

Our Interactive Plan not only enables 24/7 dispatch and cell backup, but also Smart Alerts to phone and email, unlimited recordings for ALL cameras, and smart home integrations, all for just $24.99 per month - still beating our biggest competitors without a contract.
      But the system is still able to function as an offline standalone system, for scaring off intruders and keeping an eye out for other hazards. SimpliSafe

    First. It's a great system at a very competitive price. Set-up is a breeze and adding system components is extremely easy. The cell phone app is user friendly and reliable. Now the bad news. SimpliSafe customer service used to be stellar and United States based. Now if you call, you are routed to Costa Rica where the current customer service interaction can be difficult, at best. SimpliSafe offers fantastic products that perform extremely well. Hopefully, their customer service will catch up.

    They sent me 2 bad cameras (out of four) , I sent them back, they sent me another bad camera, I have a 24 hour monitoring but my alarm has gone off two times and they’ve never called to see if anything was wrong they’ve never called the police or anything. It’s probably one of the worst alarm systems available. I have full cellular at my house I have everything set up perfectly. The cameras go in and out, sometimes they’ll record for a minute sometimes they’ll record for five seconds and then stop and say that the camera is broke. They intermittently record when they feel like it basically. It’s probably the worst alarm system you could possibly buy and I’ve had it for two years and I’ve dealt with a bunch of garbage. If you care about safety do not buy the system or anything from simplisafe. The only reason I’ve had it for so long is because they keep sending things back and replacing them and then they work for a couple hours and then break. So basically since I bought the system, I’ve been dealing with all the problems of it. And it’s way too late to return it

      We sincerely apologize for all the issues you've been experiencing. Regarding that alarm event - could it be possible that you disarmed your alarm very quickly? There is a short grace period in place to help prevent accidental false alarm dispatches. Our Support team can have a look at your log to confirm, if that's what happened.
      As for the cameras, it really sounds like a connectivity issue. Perhaps there's not enough upload bandwidth to support all your cameras at once (cameras do need to send a LOT of data), or they might be encountering interference that's preventing a strong signal.

    System is useless without subscription. Why not just go with a larger name brand that installs a real system for free with a 2 year contract opposed to this stickon expensive junk that locks you out of the app if you don’t subscribe. I figured since I bought the system I could just have it notify me if there’s a problem and not subscribe, nope that’s gonna cost ya 25 bucks a month if ya wanna use the app. I can order a real commercial alarm and have it notify me thru the internet with zero fees, just takes me a day to set it all up and install. Headed that way.

    Even though system operates over home wi-fi, if you do not pay for (full priced) 24/7 monthly monitoring, App does not work. So you get no notifications, cannot view camera, and cannot even turn on/off system from phone or computer. Very deceptive advertising. Also customer service is poor and product unreliable.

    Style: Ring Video Doorbell 2 Camera needs to be upgraded. Unit works only a portion of the time. If you are the type of person who enjoys multiple days troubleshooting an issue, then this IS the camera for you. Screws on the underside are a poor design. Need Chime Pro to extend WiFi ( another $50 ). Clusters of videos now show up the next DAY and not instantly as they should. Known bug to them but not communicated to end users. Lots of motion is missed entirely. It ranges from mosquitos tripping a video to a car 100 feet away being seen just as it is about to drive off completely. How about the stuff in front of my house ? Neighbors waving flag was an issue. Useless video resulted continuously. Christmas lights blinking was an issue. More useless videos. Not a simple device to work with. You need mechanical aptitude to install and maintain this product. The GUI is great ( graphical user interface ). I can at least say that....once it is downloaded and set up.

    Multiple Expensive false alarm bills!!!

    The product is easy to install and the interface works good enough. Wracked up $600 in false alarm fees in 2 weeks because SimpliSafe had incorrectly saved my “safe” word. Contacted customer service and was guaranteed a reimbursement. That was 8 months ago and many emails and phone calls. They just promise you it will be resolved and they pass you from service person to service person. I would look elsewhere for a security system

    Customer Service Has Gone Downhill

    For the sake of brevity I will just say that I have had an ongoing issue for weeks now and two different managers have refused to call me back. Looking at their forums it appears others have echoed my complaints about Simplisafe customer service not being what it was. I have been ignored so much now that I am contemplating cancelling the service just out of principle. I have spent so much personal time on this and I am fed up.

    When I bought a smart security system worth hundreds of dollars my minimum expectation was that the device will be smart and I can at least connect it to wifi and operate remotely. Guess what! if you are not at home and someone breaks into your home, you would not even get a notification to your mobile phone. The company charges you over 10% of the device cost per month and only then it allows you to use some of the basic functionality like connecting to mobile app, sending you notification or connecting the device to alexa or google home. Paying hundreds of dollars and then paying 10% of device cost per month just to push notification to mobil app sounds like a scam. Especially when their website says no contracts no hidden fees etc.
