I purchased this camera to add onto my Simplisafe security system. I was delighted to see they had an outdoor camera so I purchased this since I've had a great experience with all the other components, including the basic indoor camera. The installation of the outdoor camera was very easy and took under 5 minutes (with the right tools). The main issue I've had so far with this camera is the connectivity. I used my main wifi connection in the house and it kept disconnecting or would stay on fine then disconnect later. I bought a mesh wifi network to broaden the wifi signal so now the wifi connection is literally a few feet away from where the camera is installed outside. Still, having the same issue. I've tried several wifi network connections and no luck. I don't feel like this camera is good enough in its current state. There may need to be further updates before it will be great; but unfortunately, I'll need to return this one because I don't feel like it's providing the security it's designed to for the home. I further tested it out by going outside at 12am walked around my drive way for a few minutes and it never captured anything. The camera just stays asleep. It would be nice if the outdoor camera had the option to check the wifi connection, as this feature is available for the indoor camera. I believe this is an extremely important feature missing for the outdoor camera since these tend to be further away from the home wifi network. I love the idea of this actually integrating with the current Simplisafe ecosystem but i wish it would do the most basic thing, which is keeping a connection and detecting motion. Not sure if I just received a defective camera and I'm still open to trying it one more time but as for the one I bought, it's definitely not doing the job.

This camera came with a deal for one of simplisafe packages. Easy to setup and charging was fast. Can also choose to make it wired. Has a super strong magnetic mount. 1080p recordings with sound recording and microphone technologies and a built in alarm feature

I have four of these camera to replace my outdated Arlo system. I found them very easy to install through the app. The resolution is great. Not sure how long the batteries will stay charged and intend to purchase either additional batteries so that the cameras won't be out of service while their batteries charge or one of those Solar Panel kits.

Perfect way to keep an eye on the back yard! Integrates easily with my existing SImpleSafe system and very easy to set up. Lets me keep an eye on the pets and happenings readily through the application on my phone. Highly recommend!

These cameras are the best. They’re super easy to setup and monitor. I have 4 of them so far and I can see what is going on around my house. I would recommend these and the alarm system to anyone who wants one.

Works great, not only for home security but currently to keep an eye on a sick calf in the barn!

I bought this camera direct from SimpliSafe so it won't show my review as "verified". I was looking for a wireless camera and this camera doesn't disappoint. It's 1080p but the image quality is excellent. The magnetic base is awesome and allows almost unlimitless mounting configurations. It goes to sleep when motion is not detected. If you have this camera in a high-traffic area you will have to charge it more often. I have two. One at my front door and one off my deck in the backyard. We have two dogs so the camera off my deck triggers a lot more activity. I installed both cameras around October 1st. The camera near our front door is still at 96% battery life. I have just pulled the camera from our deck (with heavy backyard and dog activity) because the battery was depleted. So, with high activity the battery lasted about 40 days. I just recharged it and put it back into action. A minor inconvenience for a good quality image with no wires! The night vision on these cameras is also great. If you are looking for a wire free outdoor camera with little fuss other than the occasional charge, this is it. The magnetic mount makes taking it down, recharging it, and putting it back into service a breeze. Your base unit will alert you when it's time to recharge the camera. Simple!

This is the second camera and it works as expected. I still wish it woke up quicker/detected movement quicker, but it does a sufficient job. Got it set up with solar panel and it is great. I think the solar panel does allow for a quicker wake up than the other battery powered device. So hoping a second solar panel will increase the wake up time/reactivity better. I wish SimpliSafe would create a tablet/screen/home hub that could display the cameras based on actions. For example, I would love to have a tablet/device on my desk in my office that allows you to control your system (similar to the app), but then it would be cool to have it set up so that when the doorbell is rang, it can show the doorbell camera and/or outdoor camera feeds immediately/live. This would prevent having to grab my phone, unlock it, open the app, and then wait for the camera to load. An immediate display of camera footage would be super cool. Can't do this on Google Home or other devices, so hoping SimpliSafe is investing in this new product for SimpliSafe V3.

The camera includes 1080p HD video. A 140° ultra-wide field of view. Plus digital zoom and full color vision at night, so nothing slips by undetected in my front yard. It’s a great camera and only works with the SimpliSafe Security System. The battery does need charging more frequently based on the camera traffic.

I purchased this to keep an eye on my perimeter and to serve as a deterrent to my house's blind spots. It was very easy to install and get up and running. The image quality is clear, the night vision works well ans field is vision is better than expected. The downside is that it is very slow to connect when you want to view your camera. Sometimes it doesy connect and I have to exit the app and reopen for the camera to connect. It seems this is a known problem and I have excellent wifi coverge and speed. I still purchased knowing this because I'm hoping there will be a firmware update or similar to fix this issue.

4 stars because the quality of the video is not as I would have hoped, when subjects are in motion. Maybe it's my internet connection or something, but I don't think so. I will say that I mounted it higher than the 6 to 8 feet off the ground that was suggested. It's probably up about 10 feet. It only has a motion detection out to about 30 feet, which won't cover the front yard very far. It was easy to install, but took a bit of time to connect. I had to update my keypad, but I needed the help of simplisafe in order to do it, since the keypad did not recognize that it needed an update, though the camera told it that it needed one. It finally got connected. It does work with the security system. I have the doorbell camera, and an indoor camera (mounted outside, with the outdoor covering), and I like the "indoor" camera the best. This one will work off an internal battery or wired, but it does not come with the wiring. The camera is magnetically connected to the base, so it will be easy to remove and charge the battery when the time comes.

The camera doesn't capture a single movemen from start to finish. Will break video into short clips often cutting off the important vidual aspects. Ive moved camera into various positions which may/or may not help. Birds, flags, banners alert sensors as well, not just people. In my case difficult to cover street to front door with this single camera - about 25 feet. The camera is placed on soffit above door. Tilted too high it'll pick up street movement but not cover front stoop where packages are left. Tilted to stoop at front door leaves out anyone approaching house. Possibly I need 2nd camera? This unit could be just right for someone else. Cold weather or constant movement by birds & flag, drain battery fast.

Recommended for SimpliSafe owners but have a backup battery. Also if yours is pointing towards the front of the house, make sure you point it where you want exactly. Too much motion will drain the battery quick! I'm considering picking up at least one more at some point in the future. Quality is very good. I don't believe I've looked at any night videos at this point. Overall, I've been impressed with everything I own from SimpliSafe.

Overall an easy install and good quality video. However the reason for 3 stars, is you have to pay for a monthly plan to save videos. Would be nice to be able to review video recordings without additional cost.

Very easy to setup. Great video quality and motion detection. Also like that they have a siren built in so if alarm goes off the siren is sounding outside as well. Very good battery life so far too. Spotlight lights up well at night for a color night vision. Like the fact that I can have one app for security alarm and cameras

Very good camera, very clear high definition at short range, over 40 feet it is not as clear, but acceptable, this is positioned on second floor looking down and out. Super easy to install, The mount is magnet, so easy to adjust. Recommend keep out of hand reach, easily stolen, with magnet base.i recommend buying the black cover that can go on it, I used black tape.

Decent camera for the price. Easy setup and installation. Picture quality good with zoom capability. Motion detection is a little sensitive on picking up everything, even tree branches in the wind, even though you select "People Only" in the settings. Which drains the battery quicker. Overall good camera and decent monitoring monthly fee through Simplisafe.

The camera has very good detail and a fantastic angle of view that covers my entire width of yard. Recharging battery is easy but keep the camera easy to get to as I am finding that I must recharge high traffic areas every month and a half.

I own every Simplisafe product and I'm extremely happy with them so I decided to get this camera. The picture and build quality is really good. What wasn't good was the wifi dropped out a lot and battery didn't last very long. I main reasons i returned it was it was placed on a deck in the back yard and it was difficult to get up there and keep changing batteries. I know I could have purchased a cable or an extra battery but I didn't have access to power and as I said I didn't want to keep going up on a ladder. I ultimately decided to return and I purchased a POE 4K camera system.

Great addition to the SimpliSafe family. It took a few minutes to connect to the system but the picture quality and setting are really nice. If you are able get the power cord to plug it in or you’ll need to recharge the batteries every week or so depending on use.
