I love the app, you can see what doors are opened and closed. You can arm and disarm using the app. No contract, and relatively inexpensive monitoring services.

Within a couple seconds i can get the app up and access the cameras, but the same isn't true for any of the sensors. I was hoping I can access it remotely to check things like if I left my window open or a door is ajar. No such luck (at least not without a $25/ month fee) * AND * Regardless of my network, if Simplisafe has any sort of outage on their end, you cannot access the cameras even if you're not subscribed to their service. They basically go through a third party before going out to your phone or whatever device you're using to access the cameras. It went down for half the night once. So zero protection regardless of if it's paid or not. If I knew that before, and that I cannot record anything unless I pay a monthly fee, I probably would have gone with a different system. It's more of a set it, pay monthly, and forget it vs self manage system. I really wanted something that can do both well so that I can have someone else monitor if I leave on holiday, but still have good options for self monitoring. The latter fails by my standards. If I have to pay $15-25/ month for access to a device I own and self monitor anyways, it really doesn't seem to be of much value.

Posted .Thank you for your review. SimpliSafe's cameras do need to connect to servers in order to function, though they're our own. We admittedly have had some outages in the past couple of months that prevented the use of cameras and other parts of your account. But of course, we are constantly hard are work on improving performance and stability of all our systems. Hopefully you'll never see another outage again.
You're right that our service is designed more as a comprehensive home security where we take care of everything for you. Though we have been rolling out some features that give you more control, even at the lower subscription levels. Keep an eye out for updates in the future!

This alarm system was super easy to setup. It’s even easier to add new devices to the system. I wanted to add a panic button and a few clicks and it was done. All the features are seamless and easy to understand. I even spoke with a customer service agent from SimpliSafe, James. He was super helpful with any questions I had about the subscriptions and the devices. He even helped me with questions I had about other things such as suggestions to help improve my WiFi. Thanks James! And I hope to add more devices to my SimpliSafe system! Absolutely love it!
