some items were not in stock
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I made the purchase, some of the items were not in stock. I was never notified that the items had come in. Apparently these items were returned to stock, and part of my purchase was nullified.

Move on
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This isn't useful unless you're paying for the pro service. The service is setup to get you a push notification, but you can't have that unless you pay them. Which means that they're going to call you anyway, so why have both or neither? They're really missing the mark here by not offering that as an entry level option. Otherwise I'll give them for ease of setup. I wish I could actually disable the chimes from the keypad though.

Posted .Hi there. We won't lie, our system really is best with Monitoring Service enabled. Our Interactive Plan not only enables 24/7 dispatch and cell backup, but also Smart Alerts to phone and email, unlimited recordings for ALL cameras, and smart home integrations, all for just $24.99 per month - still beating our biggest competitors without a contract. But the system is still able to function as an offline standalone system, for scaring off intruders and keeping an eye out for other hazards.

Works well
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Works very good, no issues. However it is expensive compared to other systems. I would say wait for a deal to look for other available systems.

Monthly payment isn’t what most will get
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Setup was relatively easy. Returned because of no ability to have multiple user accounts and because monthly payment for what most people want is 25, not 15.

Easy to setup and run yourself
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Simplisafe Shield system is a good starting point for a home if you have lots of windows, doors etc. Overall the setup was pretty easy and the alarm system is responsive. The devices all come with tape adhesive on them. I wouldn’t trust a sensor to just tape. Thankfully, all of the devices have the option for screws, and a bunch are included in the kit to use. The base unit has 4 rechargeable batteries in it for power outage coverage. Setup can all be done over the web or through a phone app. My unit wouldn’t register that way and I had to call support. It wasn’t too bad getting in contact with them. They were able to connect my unit and everything worked fine after that. Easy to deal with. Once found, all of the devices in the kit automatically appear in your account. The motion sensors can account for pets by being installed upside side down from their normal position. On the keypad or online, you can completely customize device names and how they function. I set the base unit up in the center of the house. Devices on floors above and below connected with no issues. In testing alongside my current alarm system, the Simplisafe reacted and reported its status slightly quicker. No interference with my network or other wireless devices. The device connects by the cell phone network and can also connect by WiFi. One warning on the WiFi connection. The device at this time, March 2018, can only connect to WiFi networks with names, SSID, of 13 characters or less. Passwords can be longer. Hopefully they will expand the WiFi SSID it can except the amount of characters in wireless standards. I setup a different WiFi network for it, I wasn’t changing all my devices just for this in what is hopefully a temporary situation. There are more sensors on the website. Smoke, glass breakage, water detection, freeze detection etc. So, expanding and customizing the system to your needs is easy. They have CO detectors and outdoor cameras coming soon too. The best thing about it and over a big name company I current have is: - it cost no more (probably cheaper) than a system by a big name and has all the same features. - I’m cutting my monitoring bill in half with the same features. - Lower cost to modify, replace any units that die, or add new ones. You can replace the units yourself. No waiting for tech with the super secret master code only the company has and wasting a day waiting for them to come to fix or replace something, and possibly paying for the visit. - The batteries are all off the shelf and standard, no special shapes or voltages, you can get them anywhere. - Cellular network connection is included. I am going to expand my Simplisafe system to meet my needs, and then dump my current alarm company.

Great system with professional monitoring
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The SimpliSafe system is super easy to install and setup right out of the box. Simply plug in the base station, setup the keypad, and then setup your sensors (it walks you through this step by step .. I had no trouble at all with this part). After the initial setup is complete which takes literally only as long as it takes to stick the sensors up, it's ready to work as a standalone system or ready to activate for professional monitoring. Note that the sensors have hardware so you can mount them and come with adhesive pads which are the pull tab kind that remove easily (a huge plus). The adhesive is strong so for my installation no screws were necessary but the system does come with them if you need them. With a paid subscription, this system is probably the best out there, however, as a standalone system (not paid) it will work as a local alarm, but probably is not the best because there is absolutely no remote notification of system events or alarms via an app or text message that other "out of the box" standalone systems offer when connected to WiFi. It's clear that with this system in order to get the most out of it you will need to subscribe to the monthly service. If you don't subscribe you'll be very disappointed with it if you expect it to do anything more than sound the siren alarm (which is very loud). The app for the iPhone is as disappointing as is what I mention above, it's a complete waste of time to download it unless you subscribe to professional monitoring and even once you do the app is very basic in terms of what it does. The reviews on the Apple store for the App also indicate many people have problems with the app functioning properly and notifications working correctly when they do use it with a subscription... however, the point of professional monitoring in my opinion is to not need the app for anything anyway. Summary: In short, after having installed and tested this system, I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for an easy to setup/use system with a professional monitoring service (i.e. alarms, notifications go to a command center where real people notify you then dispatch, Fire, Police, etc. automatically depending on what sensors/alarms are tripped). The professional service is what you'd expect to have when you pay for professional monitoring so I would definitely recommend it for this feature! If you're looking for a system that offers remote notifications, and basic features without professional monitoring with no subscription required like other similar systems, then I would not recommend it, as there are other systems that offer more in terms of features with app notifications, phone call notifications and text messages with no monthly subscription.

Poor Quality...defective base station.

Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Brought it home the night before we went on vacation for peace of mind and the base station was defective and didn't work. Called customer service and they couldn't fix it. Had to send a replacement that got here AFTER we got back from vacation...useless.

System is great. Disappointed with installation an
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Since we already had a system installed in our other house we know how to operate the system. However there were other things that were never reviewed with us concerning options that are available to us like length of time for alarm to set, blacking out areas of camera so that a flag etc doesn’t turn on the camera etc. they never installed the sensor on our back door!

Posted .Hello, Joep. Sorry to hear about your experience. If you need to learn more about your system, we do have a Help Center here with everything that you need to know: simplisafe.com/help-center
As for that Entry Sensor - do you mean that there was never a sensor there at all, or do you have a spare sensor that still needs to be installed? Of course you can install that sensor on your own, but you can also give us a call at 800-548-9508 and we can guide you through it.

Good Home Security System, But Contract Necessary
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a decent home security system that seems to work very well with pets. We have two small dogs who don't seem to set off the motion sensors, although we do. It was easy (dare I say simple) to install and connect. I would guess it took no more than a half hour including setting up a monitoring plan. The Shield kit contains enough sensors to secure a large house against break-ins, but does not contain the fire or water sensors. The hardware is attractive and appears to be very robustly built. The system uses proprietary communications and does not interoperate with or control other vendors hardware, such as Honeywell, Arlo, Samsung, Nest, or Phillips. It has both wifi and cellular backhaul for monitoring, battery backup on the base station, and a reasonably intuitive control panel. There is no 'panic' button on the control panel. There is a 'duress' PIN that you can enter if you are being forced to disable the alarm. If either the control panel or base unit is smashed, the alarm is sent. There are two levels ($15/mo and $25/mo) of monitoring. Both include professional monitoring, but the more expensive one enables smartphone alerts and control. The base system can't be used for self-monitoring (notification and control on a smartphone) without the more expensive plan. Without a plan, the system is simply an old-fashioned alarm system; The alarm will sound in your house, but there is no notification. With the less expensive plan, the Simplisafe monitoring team will notify the police or fire department, but you will not receive a smartphone notification. In order to enable smartphone control and notifications, you must subscribe to the more expensive plan. There are several nice features of the Simplisafe plan. You can stop and restart it on a month by month basis at any time, so it can be enabled for vacations or other times when the home is unoccupied. After 11 months of continuous monitoring, you get the 12th month free. And finally, there is no per device charge, the monthly charge is the monthly charge. Conclusion Is this the system for you? If you are looking for a self monitored system, or one that will integrate with other vendors' hardware, then there are probably better solutions for you. But if you are looking for an all in one package with simple installation, smart phone integration, and a professionally monitored service with a relatively low monthly cost, Simplisafe should be a top consideration.

DIY install-able Central Station monitored alarm
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is truly a do-it-yourself install-able , central station monitor-able burglar alarm system. *** My existing alarm is hardwired. Eight years later they finally came out with wireless sensors for added coverage.Wish they had the wireless sensor from the beginning to avoid the damage to walls etc., and the string of wires running through the basement and the cost of an installers time. The SimpliSafe System is just that, a user install-able and expandable wireless system. You can even add sensors to silently send you a message say a certain drawer or cabinet in you home is opened. Great for monitoring the medicine cabinet or your gun safe OR closet. Installation was straightforward. First a call to SimpliSafe's friendly and very helpful customer service center. I was able to order my yearly monitoring ( or you can go monthly) and additional sensors per my residences layout. A few minutes latter, my system was recognized my the central station and I was ready to set up my sensors (doors, windows, motion). The kit sensors were already populated in my app awaiting my installation and renaming. With the keypad and the SimpliSafe app, doors, windows etc., get a friendly NAME they base station can announce during a walk-around test. Perimeter doors/windows can be set for OFF, HOME (your at home with perimeter doors and windows still protected, but motions deactivated) or ON (away from home). It allows you flexibility in how you live. So, 1-2-3 I'm done. **** Great system for renters. All the sensors can be installed with 3M removable tape (included). No holes to repair! Great idea!

Great, Affordable, Easy-to-install Security System
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The SimpliSafe - SHIELD Wireless Home Security System is my second product from SimpliSafe (I've been using the Defender series at another location). Therefore, I'm already familiar with how surprisingly easy these systems are to install. This was no different - and I'm still impressed by it. The two most time-consuming steps are 1) deciding on the best location for motion sensors, and 2) connecting with SimpliSafe to complete set-up (I did not experience any significant wait time, so this was just the actual time needed for this step). Interaction with tech support folks was friendly and helpful. Once installed, alerts and call-backs are immediate and clear. After turning off the 'test' mode, I tried the panic button and then stopped it. I immediately received a call from SimpliSafe checking to see if assistance was needed (and also received app and email notifications). All of the parts went up quickly with the included adhesive strips. Set-up instructions were simple and easy to understand. Because this was my second unit, I was able to see the improvements implemented since the first one I installed. There have been definite refinements that tell me the SimpliSafe folks are genuinely committed to making their systems the best in their category. This was reinforced by the fact that the added capabilities promised with my initial unit have already been added (the camera in particular). I continue to be very impressed with SimpliSafe systems. They're a great idea for an affordable solution to security needs. They are also very well thought-out and exceptionally easy to self-install.

SIMPLEST SECURITY SYSTEM EVER!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First off ... I wish this product had been around a few years ago when I bought my new house ... I would have purchased this great system and installed in my home versus going with an expensive system installed by the vendor, and no say so in where and how the devices (sensors) were placed! It's fantastic, accurate, simple to use, and even my husband can use it without setting off the alarm! A lot of thought went into the simplicity of the product, it's packaging, completely understandable instructions, and ease in setting up each device that comes with the system. I'm going to buy more sensors and 1-2 cameras (that didn't come with my base system). I liked being able to set the volume of the alarms/signals and even being able to turn certain ones off. The keypad and Fob worked great and were very responsive to the touch. The product seems well-made with sturdy plastic casing. I liked being able to put the system where I wanted, so it was convenient to get to. The only thing that was confusing to me and I couldn't find anything in the manual about it - but I couldn't figure out HOW to turn off (i.e. no power) on the base unit. I know that sounds odd, but sometimes you just want it off completely. Once the power strip of paper is pulled out of the base, there is no way to reinsert it so the battery is not live. I'll have to check online because maybe it's just me that wants to save battery life... You get a lot of bang for your buck with this security system. I love it!

The worst alarm system made!
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a terrible alarm system. It does not detect motion well. If you don't want to pay the $25-$40 per month for the rest of your life don't buy it. Other systems will notify your phone if you have a break in. This one will not!! It is also completely worthless if you live in a rural area without good Cell coverage. And as usual there is little to no customer service with Best Buy on returns.
