    The Simplisafe Door bell camera has a serious design flaw. It only works if it can connect directly to the internet and it doesn't connect to the base station like other peripherals do. So if the internet goes down for any reason (power outage, internet outage by ISP, or various other reasons) it can't automatically reconnect to the internet once it comes back up. To reset it and get it back up and working you have to dismantle it from it's base attached to your door frame using a tiny screw driver and reset it from the back. Over time after after a few internet outages that tiny screw can easily become stripped making it unable to be removed and therefore unable to be reset making it just a dump doorbell like the one it replaced. So disappointed with its design and wish I had gone with another system...

    Trash trash trash trash trash trash. Called customer support, they couldn’t figure it out. They don’t stand by their product and are not very confident when they are talking to you about their product. Had the router one inch away from the door bell and it still dropped connection while none of my other devices dropped connection.

    SimpliSafe Products have a lot of limitation. This (Doorbell) does not support SmartThings, because of this limitations we can add this device to our Samsung Family Hub. SimpliSafe has a very limited integrating with Alexa and support minimal voice commands. It does not allow much customer automation. It looks like SimpliSafe has small team and has limited support. It was my mistake to select SimpliSafe Products.

    The doorbell works well, but with no smart home integration it's pretty lacking compared to other video doorbells.

    Seems to lose connection with WiFi network about once a week. Not sure why but defeats purpose of remote camera. Perhaps issue with network?

    I didn't do my homework. Did not know this is $60 a year when Ring is $30. It could have been the installer but the picture was gray, black & white. No color at all and has no choices like Ring so I went back to Ring. My rating is by my experience you might want to try it yourself. It get's good ratings from others.

      Sorry to hear about your experience. The Video Doorbell Pro can be set up as a standalone unit, with livestreaming and Push Notifications at no additional cost. We do have a Recording plan available for unlimited recordings in the cloud.
      It sounds like your camera might have been set to Night Vision mode, which automatically switches on when there's very low light - but it can also be turned on permanently in the settings. But during the daytime, the image should be in full color. SimpliSafe

    I bought the doorbell because I don’t have a peephole in my door so I wanted so something simple I could do on my own and to see people that come to the door now I got the whole system which was easy to use

    I had to return this item, due to the wiring in by doorbell. It was going to cost more than the doorbell to install.

    Bought one it was dead after talking with tech support, bought another it setup properly but would only detect motion when extremely close with sensitivity set to max. Reinstalled Ring doorbell and returned SimpliSafe doorbell. Just wanted my doorbell to be on the alarm system also.

    This review is more of a warning to buyers of this product. Buyer beware that installing this device may not be as easy as the videos show. The device is now working well but required 2 trips to Home Depot and 2 calls to customer support. Bottom line, this device is not compatable with digital chimes! This fact would have saved hours if they told me that! Everything I learned was from the internet research I did myself to solve the installation issues. Thank God we have U-Tube and chat lines which customers told how they overcame various issues. Overall it was about 5 hours to get it up. Their other products were easy to install.

    I bought this back in Jan/2019. Everything was working fine until I had to recently update the wifi to a new wifi SSID/password. Unfortunately the doorbell won't read the QR code. Support said they would have to replace the device. HOWEVER, because I purchased it through a "third party, i.e. BestBuy" and unless I have an extended warranty with BestBuy and because I don't have the paid services with Simplisafe, they will not issue a replacement device. So the tl;dr is: 1. The audio is hit or miss if you try to do the 2-way communication (most of the time the people on the other end can't hear me). 2. It's app only, meaning you will have to buy another device if you want a chime without the app. 3. You apparently need to purchase their service to get any type of manufacturers warranty. The last one is a deal breaker to me as smart homes shouldn't require their consumers to pay for their service.
