I got this free with my alarm system. But even even if I had to pay for it it’s a great add on to the system.

Need to make them wireless. It was a bit aof a deal to connect to bricks.

Setup was very easy. Just replaced the existing doorbell and used the same wiring and it was up and running in about fifteen minutes, including connection to WiFi using the app. It includes a security screw and special screwdriver. My other doorbell does not include those simple but effective tools to prevent somebody from stealing it. It has a minimalist design and I personally like its look. Image quality is good with daylight but also good in the dark. It has a slight fish-eye effect but not enough to annoy me. The motion sensor works every time. I just wish the neighbor’s cat stopped crossing my front door as that causes the camera to send a notification a few times a day. One feature that one of my smart doorbells has and I really like is face recognition but the Simplifsafe Pro does not have that capability yet. Maybe it is because there has been some complaints about privacy but the notification “familiar face detected” would work for me. I wish it recorded videos for at least a couple of days but it requires a $4.99 monthly subscription for that. If you already use Simplisafe Home security system and pay for the service, you may get a discount or make it part of the package to add video recording. SimpliSafe home is cheaper than other services, so you might want to consider that. Here are the Pros: - Two-way audio similar to big brands - Easy installation - Notifications - Good size – not big but not too small - Good camera quality And the Cons: - No face recognition - $4.99/month plan is not expensive but is a requirement to record video - No easy way to change horizontal angle adjustment - App needs some improvement

It seems like these days you are always hearing about someone getting packages stolen off of their front porch. I decided I wanted to have one of the new video doorbell products to protect my home. So I decided to give the Simplesafe a try. I initially had some difficulty getting it installed because when I removed my existing doorbell there were no wires behind it. I discovered that for some reason my house had a wireless doorbell. I didn't even know those existed. But once I got that situation taken care of getting the Simplisafe hooked up was a pretty simple operation. The supplied instructions make the process easy to follow. It took about a half hour. Once the doorbell was installed completing the set up was easy. The camera takes clear pictures. The night vision also works well which I like as I do not leave my porch light on at night. The speaker on the device is a bit clumsy to use however. There is a couple of seconds lag between when you speak into your phone to talk to whomever is on your porch and when the sound actually comes out of the speaker. One thing I wish the Simplisafe came with was an angled trim piece so that I could aim the camera more out towards our walk way instead of only looking directly across from the doorbell itself. I would like to be able to see someone as they walk up to the door. Also the device itself it pretty thick. I'd say it sticks out about 1-1/2" from the side of the house. Hopefully they will continue to improve on the device and future models can be made slimmer. The bottom line is that the Simplisafe does what it is supposed to and does it well.

Highly disappointed with this purchase. The doorbell simply didn't work. Called SimpliSafe Customer Service, and they sent three replacements with the same issue. I would not recommend.

The absolute worst doorbell I’ve ever used. Never stays connected to the internet no matter how close it is to the router. Biggest waste of money ever. Don’t waste your money on something they will never fix.

The installation instructions looked really simple. They just omitted some vital information. Even a licensed electrician ($180) couldn’t get it to work. I’m waiting on an additional part from SimpliSafe but almost a month after purchase it still isn’t working. I’m not feeling very safe

Camera started off good but started malfunctioning almost exactly to the day it was a year old and now 2 months later stops recording and crashes any time the door bell button is pressed making it absolutely useless.

If I knew this thing was gonna be this much trouble to install I would’ve returned it. Bought this back in May and still having trouble installing it. Looks like I’m out of $300. I should’ve just bought one and returned it. Shame in me. Won’t happen next time!

I love the concept of being able to see who is at my front door. I have the SimpliSafe alarm system and everything is controlled through the same app on my phone.

Consistent recording of doorbell events. Much better than the ring doorbell.

I havent been able to install it because it needs mechanical door bell which i think that should change with the new technology. I noticed that this is not only for this product but also for ring and other companies too

We had a previous ring but left at the old house fir the new owner

Does not list events in timeline so if you miss the initial notification on your phone you can not go back and check the date and time that your camera was activated.

This was the first video doorbell I had set up, and required a little more set up to install due to the security system the previous owners of my house put in. Once I got the wiring back in place, the camera was very easy to install! The camera definitely works well enough for me, it does have a decent camera, it's not the best thing you've seen, but it works well enough for my needs. I get a few packages delivered while at work and also use it to check when the kids get home. There is a paid subscription to record video, but being that I just use it for small day to day, I like the two way audio and monitoring features. The design isn't too bad, not as fancy looking as some other products, but I like the faceplates you are given, allows you to have a choice, and not be stuck with what you bought. The SimpliSafe - Pro Smart Wi-Fi Video Doorbell is a good product that well for me, I would definitely recommend it for those looking for an easy product to us with your existing wiring.

Camera keeps dropping internet connection. Unreliable. Go with another brand.

Unless you enjoy troubleshooting electrical systems and placing diodes, resistors, and anything else you can think of to resolve the inherently poor design of this doorbell camera - buy a Ring instead.

Great video door bell the only thing it just work mechanical chime door, not Digital so I had to change my chime.

We've been looking at getting a smart doorbell for a while and was excited to get the chance to try this one out. It looked similar to another one we had our eyes on but wouldn't be able to install. This one checked off the easy to install box, as well as, the aesthetic box on our list. The doorbell was extremely easy to setup. During setup we got kicked out of the app once during activation. After that, the remainder of the process was seamless. We rang the doorbell as a test and were surprised at how fast the app alerted us. The picture quality is pretty good, and the microphone is strong. We noticed that the mic picks up even the smallest noises outside. There is also minimal lag while watching "live" through the camera. There is also a lag with voice. Also, they should have included a left/right angle plate not just an up/down. Very strange and honestly should be added as a free upgrade to those who already have it and included in future boxes. Our doorbell doesn't face the street so we can't see anyone coming towards the house until they reach up to the door. However, there is a huge downfall with the app. The three toggle screens are a waste. The major problem is: We were busy in the house when a delivery man rang the doorbell. Once the app actually opened after the bell was rang, we noticed there is no playback option available. Not only is there no playback, but there's not even a picture, a snapshot, there's nothing besides an almost pointless text that there was someone at the door. With the lag of the app opening you've already missed the person at the door. We figured out that we have to subscribe to the monitoring service to have access to seemingly standard features such as those mentioned above. We think it's quite a step backwards to have a smart device like this without providing the most basic/simple features without requiring a service subscription. Competitors offer playback for a few hours up to 24 hours free of charge. Seeing that this is in the same range as the others, this should be a basic and free add on. Hopefully that comes with any future updates, if possible. Because of the app and lack of screenshots or short videos, the doorbell is almost useless. At least you get a notification with the sound of the bell on your phone (which I like) so you will at most know someone was there. Or be prepared to watch the app 24-7 to catch a delivery or thief in action. Unless you are already invested in the Simplisafe ecosystem, this may not be the best doorbell option for you. Hopefully if a couple of these things change than I can recommend it. Until then look elsewhere.
