Installation nightmare

The tech's that came out had no idea how to install a C wire adapter which is needed for my new nest thermostat. They said they were not authorized to install it. They installed the Thermostat which gave them an error message that i needed a c wire to work properly. they put my old thermostat back on and almost broke it, in the middle of summer I was almost left with no air conditioning.
