The flying time of each battery is the hover time of the drone. If the speed of the fly is faster or functions of the drone been activated, the flying time will be reduced.

Great for beginners
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As an enthusiast with a collection of high-end drones, the Snaptain e20 presents an interesting contrast. It's a drone that doesn't immediately dazzle with high-tech features but has its unique charm, especially for those new to the hobby. The 2.7K QHD Camera is a respectable feature for a drone at this price point. The adjustable 90° FOV wide angle is a thoughtful addition, allowing for a variety of shooting angles for FPV and Bird's Eye View, which can be a delight for social media enthusiasts. However, the output is not without its flaws. Despite its capabilities, the resulting pictures and videos tend to have noticeable noise, which might not satisfy those accustomed to the crystal-clear imagery of more expensive models. Ease of use is one of the Snaptain e20's stronger suits. Features like air pressure altitude control and optical flow positioning are boons for beginners, making the flight experience more forgiving and enjoyable. This simplifies the learning curve significantly, though it's not without its hiccups. The drone sometimes struggles with stability, tending to wander a bit during flight. This can be a challenge but also a learning opportunity for budding drone pilots. The flight time is generous for its class, with the two batteries offering up to 36 minutes of airtime. This is ample for short flights and photography sessions, ensuring that beginners won't feel pressured by a ticking clock. The transmission range is also adequate, though the lack of GPS means that maintaining line of sight is crucial to avoid losing the drone. The adjustable camera with its own steering gear is a notable feature, allowing for smooth transitions from 0° to 90°. This flexibility in capturing angles is something that even some more expensive models lack, granting the Snaptain e20 an edge in versatility. In conclusion, the Snaptain e20, while not without its flaws, offers a solid starting point for those venturing into the world of drones. Its user-friendly features and forgiving nature make it an excellent training drone, challenging enough to hone piloting skills but not so daunting as to discourage beginners. For seasoned pilots, it might not replace a high-end model, but it could serve as a carefree option for casual flying, especially when one doesn't wish to risk more expensive equipment.

I Have Discovered A New Past-time!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am absolutely a newbie when it comes to aerial drones. Up until I received and tested this one out, I had never actually even held one...so for me, there was a definite learning curve to conquer...or so I thought. The E20 comes with a LOT of stuff! The box contains the drone, the controller, two batteries, charging cable, carrying case (a VERY NICE carrying case!), carrying strap, four propellor guards, extra screws, a screwdriver, and two extra sets of blades. Also included is a quick start guide, users manual, and various other bits of documentation. To their credit, both batteries came almost fully charged, so there was no wait time to actually get started. The Quick Start Guide and User's Manual made the setup super easy. From start to finish, the setup was as straightforward as it gets. There is an app to download, and you have to make sure you download the correct app. You will discover Snaptain has a plethora of apps to choose from, seeing as they have a plethora of different drones. The Snaptain E20 requires the Snaptain FPV app to run correctly. After completing the setup and familiarizing myself with the controller controls and the controls available on the app, I felt confident enough to take my first flight. The controller has a built-in module for holding a cellphone. Just start the app, insert the phone in the module, and the drone is ready to fly once it has been started and connected to the controller. There are a couple of ways to actually start the drone once it has been powered-on and connected...by simultaneously tilting both the right- and left-hand joysticks down at a 45 degree angle, or hold the Take-Off button for a couple seconds. I used the take-off button. Once the take off command has been recognized, the drone immediately powers up and ascends to a height of about three to four feet and hovers. One thing I should mention is that the camera comes on automatically once the unit has been powered on, so there isn't any having to fiddle around with camera controls. Like I said, I used the automatic take off function, and the drone powered on and went straight up. Now anyone, and I do mean anyone, who has ever played a video game using joysticks will have no problem understanding the movement principles. There is up/down, turn left/right, move side to side, and move forward/backward. That's pretty much it in a nutshell. There are a handful of other controls the user should familiarize themselves with such as the camera tilt, camera zoom, auto shutdown, take photo, shoot video, and a couple of other buttons as well. The controller is set up in such a way as to be intuitive and simple, making it quite easy to use. After the auto take off, I oriented myself with the way the drone moved, how quickly it responded, and of course, like I mentioned before, how it handled in the breeze. There was a mild breeze blowing, so the E20 experienced a noticeable shifting. I had to keep steering it away from the tree line and the power lines. But other than that, the Snaptain was a blast to play around with. The first time I flew it, I did not have a memory card inserted. I was still able to take some photos, but as even the user manual states, the photos will be of much lower resolution due to onboard storage constraints. I did take some photos, and they were correct...they weren't just the greatest quality. The second flight I did use a memory card, and the subsequent photos and one video were really quite good. The Snaptain E20 Drone weighs in at a very light 181 grams (according to the specs). This is less than 6.5 ounces. In a still environment this is not an issue. However, there always seems to be a breeze where I live, so outdoor flight stability was a bit of an issue at times. Even indoors, with a couple of ceiling fans on, I experienced a bit of difficulty. But I am going to guess that this is a very common malady for most drones, especially with an entry-level drone such as the E20. I took the drone up as high as I dared, and although I am not the world's best guess-timator, it had to be a good 50 to 60 feet. It was at this point I got a bit panicky as the wind really started to have its way. I ended up doing pretty much a nose-dive, but was able to slow it down considerably before it actually hit the grass in the pasture, and provided a very soft landing spot. And of course, over the next few days, I took it out several more times, and have become quite good at controlling it, doing acrobatics, and scoping out the area around my house from the sky. I have done a bit of research since I received the Snaptain E20, and I have learned that there are a huge number of user levels, weights, varieties of functions, and in some cases, even laws and regulations to consider. Again, as I stated earlier, the E20 is an entry-level drone. And in my opinion, it is a perfect drone for beginners. As I think about it, I can see myself MAYBE upgrading at some point, but there would have to be a compelling reason. It does everything I imagined drones did...it flies, takes photos and videos, and can do acrobatic tricks. I don't think the vast majority of folks who buy drones do so with the intent to become professional competitors, or high-altitude photographers. So for me, I can see myself enjoying this one for years to come. PROS: Easy to use Propellor guards included Two extra sets of propellors included Great app Long battery life, as well as two included batteries A great carrying case!! A very decent camera Great price The drone itself is foldable for easy stowage CONS: No GPS No Auto-Stabilization I would encourage anyone who has been wanting to enter the world of drone flying to go ahead and take the plunge and get the Snaptain E20 drone. It's easy to learn, easy to use, and it will provide hours of fun.

Ultralight drone - fun to operate
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This review of the Snaptain E20 foldable drone is by an absolute beginner. As such, it is for beginners. If you have experience operating drones and taking drone photographs or videos this review won’t have detailed information for you. There are a few reasons for this. First, as I mentioned, I’m a true beginner having never operated any type of drone before receiving this one. Second, from the time I received the drone until now we have had windy conditions that have limited my ability to operate this drone. I will discuss this in more detail later in the review. To start, the drone comes well packaged in a zippered nylon bag with an easy to understand owner’s manual and quick start guide. The propeller arms are easy to fold out for use and close for storage. The foldable arm to hold one’s cell phone on the remote requires removing any case on the phone. For my phone this would entail a laborious procedure that I would not be inclined to do each time I used the drone. The remote comes with a guide that clearly explains the functions of each of the buttons and sticks on the remote. There were two batteries for the drone along with a charging cable and extra propellers. Everything was well packaged, nothing was damaged during shipping, and the case makes it easy to store and transport the drone. The drone battery and remote needed to be charged prior to first use and each one took less than an hour to charge. Propeller protectors were included with the drone and they attach and detach easily. One concern I had was whether I had to download Snaptain’s app in order to operate the drone, meaning I would have to learn how to use the app as well. Based on the enclosed instructions I thought downloading the app was necessary. I watched a YouTube video reviewing a different Snaptain drone and the reviewer said the app was not necessary to operate the drone. Thus, I tried operating the drone without the app and happily it worked. Of course, not having the app limited what I was able to do with the drone but, having never operated a drone before, my goals were to get it off the ground, learn how to maneuver it, and not have it fly away and be lost forever. After fully charging the drone and remote batteries I took the drone outside for its inaugural flight. I followed the instructions and the drone and remote synced up immediately with no issues. I repeated the process several times and each time the drone and remote synced with no problems. Confident that the drone and remote were synced, and following the instructions, I was able to fly the drone in simple up and down, back and forth, and left and right paths. I was also able to maneuver the drone in turns and different heights up to about 25 feet to keep it below the height of the trees in our area. I realize these are the most basic of operations but for someone who has never flown a drone before it was challenging and a lot of fun. The drone seemed very responsive to the sticks on the remote. The instructions said the drone battery has a run time of 18 minutes. I was not able to test the drone battery run time because my ability to operate the drone was extremely limited due to wind. The E20 is listed as being “ultra light” with a weight of 185 grams. In hand the drone does feel extremely light. From the time I received the drone until now our area has had fairly steady winds in the range of 5-10 MPH with gusts up to 15-20 MPH. The light winds in the 5-10 MPH range affected the flight of the drone and the gusts of wind made the drone uncontrollable. For example, at one point as I was maneuvering the drone forward a gust of wind hit the drone head-on and pushed it backward toward some trees. There was no way for me to get the drone to move forward against the wind and the only reason the drone did not crash into the trees was because the gust of wind died down in time for me to maneuver the drone away from the trees. That situation was not due to the drone not working properly. The propellers were spinning at what seemed to be their normal speed but the wind was too strong for the drone’s capabilities. I cannot fault the drone for that. The operating instructions advise not use the drone in windy conditions so, again, the drone’s deficiencies in windy conditions is simply a function of its weight and capabilities. The weight of the drone does limit the use of the drone to very calm conditions and when the wind died down for short periods of time the drone worked fine. The drone does not come with a memory card for taking photos or videos, which would have been useful for this review. I have not been able to test the photo or video functions of the drone because I lack the proper memory card and I have not had a chance to shop for one. As best I can tell, the drone requires a micro SD memory card and the instructions say it needs to be formatted to FAT 32. Overall, this seems like a good beginner, light use drone for persons living in areas where conditions are calm and the wind is generally light. The winds we have been having, which have been consistent and gusty but I would not call them strong or heavy, have been too much for this drone to handle. Thus, if you live in an area with frequently windy conditions this ultralight drone is probably not the best choice. While there are less expensive drones one can purchase if one is just starting out I think this one can serve as a good starter drone that has some expanded capabilities as one becomes more experienced operating drones. For a person looking for an ultralight drone, I would recommend this one as it has worked well thus far.

It's pretty sweet!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Snaptain E20 FPV Drone offers a solid introduction to aerial photography with its 2.7K camera and 5MP photos, though it lacks advanced features like image stabilization or autofocus. With 18 minutes of flight time and a maximum speed of 15.66 mph, it’s designed for casual outdoor use rather than professional-grade photography. Its autonomous flight modes—such as takeoff, hover, and circle—make it beginner-friendly, though obstacle avoidance technology is absent, so caution is needed when flying. The drone's 0.09-mile transmission distance limits its range, making it more suitable for small, open spaces. Despite the lack of GPS, it provides a decent first-person view (FPV) experience with Wi-Fi control through a remote or app. However, the 4-hour battery charge time could be frustrating for those looking for longer flying sessions. Overall, the Snaptain E20 is a lightweight, foldable drone best suited for hobbyists aged 14 and up looking for a simple flying experience without breaking the bank. Just don’t expect it to handle strong winds or provide cinema-quality footage.

Smart Technology and a Lot of Fun
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When the box containing the Snaptain E20 box arrived at our home, my wife, quite routinely, asked, “What’s in the box?” I said, “a small drone.” She looked at me in some amazement and then asked quietly, “what are you going to do with a drone?” stretching out the last word. There was a long, long pause on my part as I tried to find a reasonable answer. I finally said, “have fun” both as a weak statement and a question. It was a prophetic reply. Opening the box, a buyer finds a nice protective zippered case. Opening this, the first thing to notice is the drone itself. It is folded into a compact size, so small I wondered, “How is this going to fly?” Removing the drone, reveals the equally folded remote control. The case also contains batteries, charging cable, strap for the case, blade protectors, replacement blades, and two printed documents, a Manual and Quick Start Guide. These documents were the worst part of the drone experience. Whoever thought a 4-point light gray font on glossy white paper was a good idea, needs to rethink it. While the printed documents were almost useless, the same information was easily downloaded. I was struck by the versatility and ergonomics of the remote. Everything was well labeled, and for us beginners, a nice cardboard cheat sheets fits on top. While the remote is compact, the manufacturer has made it quite easy to use and comfortable in the hand. Additionally, there is a convenient mount for a connected phone to view images. (The manufacturer says to remove the phone case to avoid it slipping. I wish I had followed that advise initially.) After charging the batteries and following the guidance on the video, I tried flying. To do so, the user only has to activate the drone by pressing a button for a few seconds, and the same for the remote. They paired easily. I followed instructions and the drone lifted elegantly and with a confidence that I lacked. In a few minutes I felt like a real pilot. The drone and remote worked effortlessly and I had no problem with elevation or orientation. Because I am a bit clumsy, the video and photo elements worked well and with good imagery, but I will need more flight time to use these functions effectively. In sum, the response I gave my wife, “for fun” was dead-on. This little device was safe, easy to learn, and fun.
